as a leopard gecko owner, i also reckognized how the tail looks like the leopard geckos tail, and you actually were right! many geckos and lizards store fat in their tail, and some can even detach it for self defense.

Relating to the Ice Chunks snack thing, it in theory also aids the incisaur to obtain water, as once the chunk of ice melts inside it's body due heat and the grinding it has to pass through to basically chew the food, not only the incisaur solves 2 problems at once, but they also stay hydrated, cold and with enough electrolytes to keep going Edit: What if, the Incisaur tail absorbing nutrients and being able to detach is not as an escape mechanism, because it is basically given that it has no natural predators, but rather, is a survival system, where, if food is very scarce, the incisaur will pop off it's tail and eat it, the tail grows bigger in size the more food he has been eating and the more nutrient rich it is, think of it as a survival food kit
@dharrison6504
@dharrison6504 Жыл бұрын
But it wouldn’t need to eat it… camels don’t need to eat their own humps when food is scarce? Bears don’t need to eat their excess fat during hibernation?
@dotheearthquake
@dotheearthquake Жыл бұрын
@@dharrison6504 You see, food is sort of scarce at times, Especially that these are t-rex sized predators. So they eat their own tails.
@dharrison6504
@dharrison6504 Жыл бұрын
@@dotheearthquake ok, that is VERY rare when animals actually eat themselves when they are hungry. Normally this bodies naturally use their fat storages with out any need of eating and digesting the body part in which the fat is stored
@micahplunkett6500
@micahplunkett6500 Жыл бұрын
Maybe instead of being to eat, it drops only part of its tail to attract smaller carnivores to eat it, which the Incisaur then eats? Like a lure almost.
@dharrison6504
@dharrison6504 Жыл бұрын
@@micahplunkett6500 I suppose is doesn’t have to drop it at all? It could be used like the spider-tailed horned viper, where most of incisaur is hidden (maybe underground) and then it wiggles it’s tail about to attract prey. That is my second to biggest pet peeve about his monster biology series, is that he seems to disregard convergent evolution… I get that they are designed by people and therefore take inspiration from real world things, but just because incisaur’s hail looks like a leap pars gecko’s tail, does not mean that they are used the same, AT ALL

I always interpreted the spines as ice crystals, like horns, hairs or quills except they're made entirely out of frozen water. Maybe they're a strange version of sweat, being used to cool off (though I don't know if having solid sweat melt would have the same effect as liquid sweat evaporating). Maybe they're ice reserves the Incisaur saves up when it's cold and uses up while it's warm, heck maybe it's solid pee because it eats so much ice. That or they could still be sensory organs Also perhaps Incisaur barely has gums to begin with, with its teeth being rooted almost like wiggly ball joints so they can move, but there's no danger of them falling out despite having little to no gum tissue. Its gums could even be frozen solid, so they rattle just as much as bones do

I love incisaur tbh also I think the crystal spines on it's head are a kind of crystal looking plates that resemble or even have a similer structure to a real world crystal they'd be similar to a stegasaurus plates as we see them on the Tail as small spikes so they might be usefull to attract mates same with the horn on it's head that could also act as a defense mechanism and the plates could make it look like sharp Dimond spikes to intimate despite thier size they don't look that intimidating without the horn that resembles the rhino beetle that looks like it could shovel snow and do massive damage and the crystal could also help with intimidating foes
