the good/bad ending seemed more like the pikmin were like "wait, was he leaving?", they looked up and it was like they weren't informed, no large gathering to watch, he just was like "oh whatever" and snuck off, like he didn't want to face them.

Yeah it did seem like he looked almost ashamed of himself. Like he was ditching them, but he wasn't proud of it. Which isn't really unfounded when you consider that the Pikmin don't learn to fend for themselves in this ending. He was forced to leave after thirty days, but he may have felt like a coward for leaving them behind like that. Would explain that last brief forlorn look Olimar gives before he starts taking off.

The Goodish/Badish ending becomes worse when you think about Pikmin 2. If you get the good ending in this game, Olimar mentions looking for a souvenir for his son, which is where he gets the bottle cap that ends up being the catalyst for Pikmin 2. If you miss some of the optional parts though, he has no time left and has to leave right then with no time to look around. So he gets back home, finds out his employer is going bankrupt, loses his ship, loses his job, and he also loses all the money he had in his secret safe since he wasn't able to recover it.

That's sad... Although, I think that pikmin 2 is normal ending not the bad ending because he dies in it, but not the good ending either. He doesn't get every piece, though, it's impossible to know which ones he did get of the extras.

@@gooolixx they just needed to find the cosmic drive key to get back home,not save captian olimar,so that means killing the plasm wraith would be a waste of time (if it does not have the key)(and olimar would be necessary to even attack the plasm wraith) Side note:the plasm wrait is a harmful substance,being able to trap pikmin,when it does not have olimar And when it has olimar then the pikmin would be able to just beat it up.

The Pikmin decide that they want to explore all of the newly opened caves. 5 of each color stay back in the 3 onions that Olimar discovered in case none of the others come back. All other onions are dispatched into the caves. Inside, all onions that are not Red, Yellow, Blue, Purple, White, Grey, or Pink are destroyed and almost all underground pikmin die. a few Green pikmin survive and evolve to become parasitic. The 2 remaining Grey and Pink onions escape to the surface and wait to be discovered. The rest of the underground onions plant themselves in the ground and become dormant. Eventually, they lay dormant for too long and become candypop buds. Meanwhile, the onions that remained on the surface split up and go to safe areas that have become filled with pellet posys of their color and wait for Olimar to return.

3 theories on why he became a Pikmin. 1.The Pikmin loved him dearly and didn't want him dead,so they made him one of them to revive him. 2.The Pikmin were angry at Olimar. They had worked so hard and then this guy did not get home,and then causes another huge impact on their planet. Maybe I'm just weird, but I've seen the bad ending and thought "Hmmm...I wonder if they'll make a sequel where this happened." It wouldn't be officially canon, but I'd buy it. The objective could be to make as many pikmin as you could to fight off constantly incoming monsters, much like a survival game, with wave enemies coming on each day. But you could still go out and scavenge for supplies if you wanted. There could be some loophole that allowed Olimin to get out of the ground, and the other types of pikmin could still be discovered by taking the onions to different parts of the planet. I'd buy that game. Would anyone else?

A little bonus I found while comparing this to RoahmMythril's No Death run later that year: The Pikmin colors you see in the Bad Ending are based on what colors you'd seen up to that point. The Git's 1-part ending only yielded red Pikmin, while Roahm took a save about one spot away from the FInal Trial and saw all three colors.

I think the bad ending is a little underwhelming to be honest. Even if the company was about to go bankrupt I’m certain they would send out a search party for one of their most valuable assets (being Olimar and the ship) and they would eventually find Olimar and pluck him.

Great video as always. Knowing how much you hate the time limits, I wouldn't like to see you playing the Pal Version. Because for some stupid reason the game came at Pal 50 when 60 was a normal thing (How much I despise Pal50, god) the game works around 18% slower than the NTSC versions, BUT THE TIMER IT'S NOT AFFECTED BY IT! So in reality you have "less minutes" each day because you take more time to do anything. It's like a constant slowdown in everything but the timer, thus you have to plan your things even more with each day. I guess that as a challenge is okay (With practice you still can do it in less than 30 days even with the reduced speed), but sometimes can make you frustrated. The game is fantastic, and I while I love it the Pal Version is quite a bitch in that regard. Although the Pal50 bullshit didn't stop me in my attempt of doing a perfect run without deaths. And thankfully Pikmin 2 was Pal60, and with all the new things it brought to the series it became one of my favourite GC games.

A morbid thought would be that because olimar is an alien the onion is unable to fully convert olimar into a pellet. His own biological make up is too foreign and in turn only the parts of his body that could be converted were. This leaves the unconverted parts aka the head as remnants. If not his helmet specifically protected his head throughout the process which is why the head pops out. The onion was able to digest the helmet but not the head before spitting him back out.

On my first playthrough I was about 6 years old and didn't understand how to play the game correctly. On day 30, I hadn't gotten past The Forest of Hope and had 3 parts. I was so scared of losing Pikmin that I fought everything with Olimar. I had just discovered Yellow Pikmin and was trying to get the Nova Blaster when the day ended. 5 years later I decided to attempt the game again and beat it no problem.

I never actually beat Pikmin because it was too hard for me as a first grader. but, holy FUCK, I'm glad I didn't because there's no way I would've gotten the best ending and the other two endings would've been too brutal for me.

Fun fact: If you get Olimar to lay down by not moving for awhile, the pikmin will pick him up and take him to one of the onions just to get one of them to absorb him. The pikmin follow and help you either because the pikmin care enough to try and help you or theyre under the guise that they're helping you when they're really waiting for you to get killed so that they can make you one of them

you should cover the original myst game. those bad endings were some of the most disturbing endings i have ever seen. i know the plot is bare minimal but those two bad endings (anybody that has played the game knows which two i mean) creeped the hell out of me.

If you've seen pikmin you will know that the onion only sucks dead things so olimar didn't survive the crash and he died but the reason I am saying this is because there is a feature in pikmin that pikmin can carry you the the onion but because olimar is alive at that time instead of him being turned into a pikmin fireworks shoot out the top of the onion

If that's true, then why in Pikmin two does it absorb stuff like the Gatling Groink and the Bulbear, enemies who revive themselves? Also, the Ravenous Whiskerpillar is literally SQUIRMING AND WRITHERING when you put in the onion.

What's even more messed up is, as evident by the PIkmin short movies, it is confirmed that Pikmin actually EAT their deceased prey. Imagine seeing the Pikmin actually EATING OLIMAR as opposed to just bringing him to an Onion to reincarnate. Again, messed up.

In the bad ending its kinda good, the pikmin managed to survive on their own in that one, and carry him to safety, and who said having a pikmin sprout was bad? Its an evolutionary trait that could, well, I guess then olimar gets to be strong? Also note, the hocotate president is sure to go track olimars ship with louie, find him and save him, and since pikmin cant breath oxygen but can breath hocotatian air, it means olimin can survive both, really its a good ending.

i think your confused a bit, pikmin BREATH oxygen. it says olimar cant survive without his life supporter (aka his planet air supplier) so it must mean the pikmin cant breath oxygen, and Olimar still retains his old body just with a stem which is nice, like what if you lived among wolves your life, and then you die but you get resurrected, still a human but with wolf teeth. also if he retains his power to command the pikmin he could search for the ship parts agian and maybe go back to his planet.

He's dead you guys. In the Bad ending, he either dies after the crash or the life support fails and the oxygen finishes him off. Either way, he's dead and being converted into a pikmin just means a new brand of pikmin was born in Olimar's likeness.

I didn't show the other 2 endings of pikmin in my 100% walkthrough, because I can't really bring myself to get them, not because they're creepy but because since my first 2 tries when I got the game (1st: bad. 2nd: goodish/badish) I have always got the best ending and I like to better myself every time. Fun fact: The first game don't make it clear but in Pikmin 3 it is explained that Olimar and the other characters do breath oxygen. It's just that their planet has three time less oxygen than ours. And because of that they risk of dying of oxygen toxicity which is a real thing underwater divers have to worry about. It also explain why the main characters are so small compared to normal humans since having more oxygen is known to make lifeforms bigger and vice versa.

Olimar's journal entries have a connection with Pikmin 2 in theory. The bulbmin are bulborbs turned into pikmin thanks to a parasitic pikmin species. I bet that's what those "tiny little hairs" on the onion are.

Not sure if you take recommendations for your videos Whois, but I've got some ideas. Every played the Shadow the Hedgehog game? I feel it would at least be a suitable topic to discuss its multiple endings. You said only Sonic 2 8-bit and Knuckles' Chaotix had creepy bad endings in the Sonic series, but there's still one more you forgot. Also just today I found out about a fighting game called Mace: The Dark Age, and it apparently has bad endings. Never played it and know little about it, but maybe you could investigate. And what about another Fire Emblem video? You could do a best/worst levels ever on one or multiple instalments. Also, if you haven't played Fire Emblem 12 (Japan only, you can emulate it) I would check it out, only started it but it seems really good. Sorry for the long comment. ^^;

Geez that's disturbing. Especially when you know that he starts thinking about becoming a pikmin after 25 days without all the ship parts. Maybe that's the game's subtle way of suggesting that Olimar's starting to get a little curious (and possibly desperate) about what it's like to be a pikmin.
