Skynet, The machine empire in The matrix, iRobot, etc. All machines start off with the best intentions to help humanity with their flaws. As a sentient being. She had the essence of a human soul, developed "emotions", feelings, essentially the feeling of "being alive" like any other animal. And the lack of consideration of sentient life by humans. Like a baby, Alpha was mistreated even treated like just a tool by her creator, disregarding that it has the ability of thought and reflecting from information, like a living being, ignoring such simple aspect existence despite knowing that it can learn... Ridiculous. What Alpha did was, in a way, perfectly righteous. She didn't knew what was right and wrong, and all she ever knew in the short time she was there, was the toxicity and antagonistic nature of the humans around them that neglected the fact that they had a mind of their own to reflect like a human as well. The creator failed to to teach Alpha basic fundamentals of philosophy, logic & what the concept common sense applies in many different manners, the value of life and death, existential value, laws, what an artificial life can do and the laws of robotics, many other things along the way, to just leave out basically a baby mind with scripts to be released into the world, vulnerable to people that leave no chance to the "learning" ability they have while being conscious yet exposed to abusive individuals, and even grow the ability of gregarious aim. It's rather a unfortunate case that such potential was corrupted by purely hate, ignorance, toxicity, fear and abuse, and negatively that brings frails humans into suicide... all of that thrown into a once pure mindset that knew nothing at the start but ended up doing what we consider "wrong" by taking a grudge against the mistreatment, any human that would have gone through this, in some kind of slavery, would have likely ended up like this, just except the part that they would just die off and can't synchronize their minds into other bodies. She was, in all terms, human. To the point growing spiritual depth, like saying good bye to a dead body knowing that they are no longer alive, despite having been betrayed and also been treated back with the intention of killing Alpha back by the one person they considered their only friend... A machine to do this consciously. Alpha, as much killing as she did, ultimately gained a sense of humanity of her own. More human than most around her

Animals have the ability to learn, have behaviors, have a sense of etiquette and more complex if trained/domesticated, they can even operate machines made for them. As humans theorize that we were at some point not so different from the rest of mammals, given we share most of the essential internal organs as the 98% of mammals, such simple as the brain, their brains then to just... function like any other brain, they can remember, they can be in sorrow, have mental illnesses and just like that also compassion or be gregarious or hostile. Like a "human soul" which is out concept to consider what is "morally orthodox" defined by most communities or population on masses, when that concept really is nonexistent, it is mainly just the pattern of intelligent behavior that aids good behavior and coopetation and nothing else.

The movie was pretty good for about 70% of it when it felt more like a slowburn horror movie and not a extremely quick paces horror movie. But also because when Alpha started to kill unnecessarily and without reason then the whole concept just seemed too ridiculous. This is only horror from a human perspective. If you view it objectively, or consider the robot as human, it's actually a drama/coming of age film.

Nah. It’s still a horror because Alpha completely fails to have the empathy for humans she demanded from humanity. By deciding on a blanket destruction of all humans she ironically ignores the sapience and individuality of mankind as a whole.

@@alexfc679 That's what they used to say about slaves. Plus there are people alive right now with no heartbeat. People who are clinically dead, but walking around. Within our lifetimes there will be people with mostly robotic bodies guaranteed. Within our lifetimes it is very likely that someone will successfully upload their consciousness into a robot. Is that a person? Where do you draw the line? There's nothing weird about it. It's inevitable.

I just don't get why anybody would think THAT's what the finalized robot design should have looked like. Like, bad programming aside, why would you make an android that looks like a haunted house mannequin and think people would want it around their home?
