1:42 and 2:51 finally! :D after a couple of years using CAD programs I hear someone who understands what's going on when you edit or make a change to a feature or geometry (even uses same words). I consider myself a beginner but always try to learn a bit more. Thanks for your videos!

Hi Dave, I still don't understand the interest of the multibody for mechanisms since it's still necessary to redo the assembly after... Do you have an explanation please? Thanks

This was a static PART with non-moving features that was turned into an ASSEMBLY with moving components.

@@CADPLMGuy Thank you for your answer. But why not build the part directly into an assembly?

@@gabyrob1479 I don't understand your question. I explained the scenario at the beginning of the video. I had a part that I did not create that I now wanted to be an assembly.

@@CADPLMGuy Sorry Dave, I'm misspoke about about my question. Yes I understand your scenario but my question about the multibody is general. Basically what difference and advantages are there between a design in an assembly and that in multi-body, knowing that it will be necessary to redo an assembly afterwards? I do not understand why PTC has developed that or the interest of this way of doing things. I was just wondering if you had an answer. Thank you so much

I recommend you watch one of Martin Neumueller's videos on Multibody. He outlines 13 use cases for Multibody and not all of them - in fact most of them - do not involve assemblies. For example, Multibody can be used to define parts with cavities / subtractive geometry, multi-shot injection molded parts, and are used extensively in Generative Design. If you only think of Multibody in terms of assemblies, you are severely limiting yourself in terms of the capabilities of this toolset.

Thank You Dave. I'm wondering if we can change the multibody base part dimensions (or even parameters) in the assembly level relations (in the assembly which is created from the separate bodies and which may also include some other parts assembled which is not created within the multibody base part) . Is it possible?

Yes. See my earlier videos where I show how this is controlled via an External Copy Geometry feature.

Would love everything about assembly component interfaces. Often confusing and not enough documentation. Nice video!

Have you watched my basic and advanced videos on the subject?
