I had an extra hour during my recording session with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, so I decided to record an arrangement for my favorite works from one of my favorite anime shows. The mix is very rough as I don't plan to monetize or release this on any streaming platforms.
DISCLAIMER: I have no intention of putting this on streaming or plan to monetize this re-orchestration/arrangement as I am not the composer and do not own the rights to this amazing piece! I am merely a crazy fan who loved the music so much that I spent my own money to conduct and record it!

Amazing! Pick up clarinet as well since there's some overlap between saxophone and clarinet as well as clarinet having a large role in studio orchestras. Saxophones aren't usually too utilized in studio orchestras but you can always be the first one to change that!

Lo veo 1 año tarde esto pero el hecho de que usen violinistas(disculpen si no se distinguirlo ante otros que se parecen) me da a entender que en el caso de la serie anime se quedaron cortos y suplantaron instrumentos para arreglar o es que ustedes son tan magnificos que agregaron y supieron adaptar instrumentos para hacer esta version tan magnifica apesar de tan solo aprenderla en 1 hora

オーケストラの構成のため、クラがヴァイオリンに、ユーフォの代わりにチェロが入ってますね。その他パーカッションがほとんどなくて、原曲から見るとちょっと寂しい。でも演奏は見事です。

Yah the main issue in a recording studio session where the musicians are sightreading so the need for a click track in their headsets is basically mandatory. One problem is that the solo trumpet part of this piece is pretty much done kind of like a concerto in all the wind band recordings, not to mention some of them don't follow the written tempo marking on the score. Since this was done with a click or tempo track, that's likely why it's 1.5x faster. But do no worry, I am going to re-attempt this piece again without a click track and much more rehearsal time.

I have a question: Did you do anything to prevent problems with copyright stuff? I ask this, because I wonder what it takes to play this piece, in terms of licenses and stuff. I started playing euphonium, and I wonder if I could just recommend this to an ensemble, and play together with them, without too much headache.

This was a "private concert" and I don't have plans to release this anywhere for monetary gain. I've seen lots of ensembles perform this piece and I am pretty sure they didn't get the rights to do it. I have a friend who has reached out for authorization and he's able to do it. The main issue is the rightsholder is in Japan and they can take months or years to get back to you. I would also like to think that the rightsholders of this piece wouldn't want to sue a bunch of student ensembles considering the anime is about a student ensemble.

@@Alexdengmusic Thank you for the reply 😊🙏 So, you think that if it's not for money, and especially if it's private, it shouldn't be a problem? I'm currently in a wind ensemble. So it's essentially what the piece is for. I thought "if they are ok with adding stuff to the repertoire, we/they could play it"(I'm in the "Monaka" of the ensemble, the novice group). But I'm not sure if they can play this on concerts. The members are volunteers, and everyone is paying for the membership. So it might be ok, or not.

Yah I haven't heard of the studio or the rightsholders ever going out of their way to sue a school district or a volunteer group for performing this piece. Usually as long as the concert is free admission, they wouldn't really care considering it's also free promotion.

At first, I thought "they play like they need to catch the last train", because it sounded too fast. Then, I read that they did all the learning in 1 hour, and respected everyone involved here! They just showed how good players they are. 😍 For such a little practice, they played very well!

The performance still sounds like the original piece 👌 A pianist friend says that if he becomes a listener while playing, and start enjoying the piece; he does more mistakes. I imagine that there's no way you didn't become a listener while conducting this 😄 And who can blame you for that? I think it's a great experience for you. Now, you can learn from this, and do better, if you have another chance of conducting in the future.

They did learn this in like 40 minutes and I was really pushing them. Also some weird decision I made in the arrangement for ease of recording in that shorter time frame. There is an updated version with percussion with some different takes spliced in. :)
