Mike, few words to let you know that I truly appreciate your videos and wisdom. Your no non-sense, pragmatic, get-it-done approach and tips resonates with me. I hope you realize that your work matters. Oh, and yeah... DxO Pure Raw is a real treat. Files coming out are pristine. Greetings from Canada.

You're right about dxo software, it's great. My favourite thing is that you can put images in light room first then run it from there as a plug in.

Hi Mike. Thank you for the information about the software you mentioned in the video. I downloaded it and gave it a quick tryout and it makes a massive difference to noise. So a massive thank you for it. Yes it’s a bit expensive but wow the noise in the pictures I tried came out really much better.

Thanks again for a great video 👍🏻 you certainly work hard to put a new one out every week, respect. I have been testing Pure Raw for a week or so after you mentioned it in one of your videos and am blown away with the quality of the dng raw files, amazing. Like you say it’s so much easier than Topaz. By the way I see Olympus aka JIP are teasing new cameras, interesting 🤔 all the best Doug

Another reason I hate the BBC . How much of my money is wasted on an army of credits that role after an episode of springwatch,and then there are people like you who go to all this effort to give us free content without employing dozens and just as professional..Long live KZbin.😁👍

Hi Mike, great video as usual. DxO also works wonders on older images. I have re-processed several of my older files to great effect.

Yes I have another YT video coming up where I process a 2007 image that is extremely noisy and it comes out perfect.

Sorry I didn't understand: DXO also removes the noise automatically or after using Topaz? Congratulations again for the beautiful videos of technical perfection that you show us. Greetings
@MikeLaneFRPS2 жыл бұрын
No connection to Topaz. Pureraw you run on your raw files and it cleans them up. No need for Topaz which you would normally use after raw conversion.

Great video, Mike. I live near Glenmore, and have feeders there. Anyone visiting would not have much time to wait if they started to feed for cresties and don't even need a hide, because as you say they are so confiding. I use Olympus with DXO, which is a gamechanger for M4/3 and the inherent noise at high ISO. I like the recent addition of whether you can sharpen after processing, as initially I find some images over-sharp. Keep the videos and tips coming please as old dogs like myself learn new tricks!

Another excellent video Mike , what is the make of tripod head you are using and do you use it for stills and video
@MikeLaneFRPS2 жыл бұрын
A Vinten Blue 5. The tripod I hand the feeder off will be a Benro 8 head. I use both for stills and video. I have tried several gimbal type heads over the years, but quickly go back to video heads.

Hi Mike , after using Pureraw do you still use Lightroom, adobe etc to process the pictures , thanks.

Yes. I convert to a dng raw file and open that in photoshop.

Nice video, thanks Mike. I am also a big fan of DxO Pure RAW. I came across it early last year and found it to be a lifesaver in many situations. I was interested in the "making money" from photographs you referred to on several occasions and would love to see a video on how best to go about it.
@MikeLaneFRPS2 жыл бұрын
I must mostly mention it in the past tense, as I no longer make a living from it. Prices have dropped too far. Not sure I could do a film on it. I will think on it.
@wildcat10652 жыл бұрын
Agree that DXO is brilliant but on my fast-ish computer it still takes 3 mins per pic to process compared to a few seconds for ACR so I use it mainly for noisy images. It makes a fantastic job of Olympus images that would otherwise contain a lot of noise and really extends the usablity of micro fourthirds.
@MikeLaneFRPS2 жыл бұрын
It takes much longer to do my Sony A1 files than my smaller Olympus files, but I usually do large batches of perhaps 100 images and just leave it to run in the background.

I use DxO PureRAW with low light images from the Z7 & Z7II, excellent results. Unfortunately it has not been updated for the Z9 as yet. Cheers from Australia.

Hi Mike excellent film as always and very interesting. Did you set up on private land or were you able to set up somewhere with public access? Interested as when i head to Scotland i might give it a go and take some feeders with me. Thanks.
@MikeLaneFRPS2 жыл бұрын
I did set up my own feeders in the pine forest with public access, but all the pictures in the KZbin film were taken at Neil Mcintyres site. I list his web site in the description under the video and mention it at the end of the film.

Great film as usual Mike. I’m up to the Cairngorms in March so hoping to get some shots of the crested’s myself. Thinking of giving that DxO a try. The dng files that you process them to are they ok for posting on social media sites or will I still need to use JPEG’s. Thanks Ian
@MikeLaneFRPS2 жыл бұрын
A dng file is a raw file so no you need to convert to jpg. You can go straight to jpg in DxO Pureraw instead of dng.
