Pema Chodren has meant so much to me over the many years I've read and listened to her. She is the essence of humility, which to me means always telling where she has failed and struggles. That kind of honesty is what makes her my great teacher. She is only human but spends her life sharing and evolving into a more compassionate person.

Being that I am Native American, I wonder that special feeling that was felt what Native Tribe lived in that area? As you know all Native Cultures have a close relationship to the land. Thank you for the video! It was so beautiful.

Thanks Janet, you might also take a look at "The Bloodless Valley" on our channel, an early short from Crestone Films about this area. It's the only place in the West in which an abundance of Native tribes consistently gathered over the centuries, always without bloodshed...

Oh my gosh. Being into silence is a sense of timelessness for me. It has only been the last 3 years that I have had full internet. It is like have a huge party in my head. I have recently gone back into silence for the 1st half of every day. The silence is quite satisfying.

i love Pema but sometimes when she is speaking about the many ways in which we run from our deepest fears I have this thought, that her whole beginning was to become a nun after he husband, her trusted friend and lover and children's father betrayed her deeply ... so what would be the best way to avoid EVER risking having to feel that betrayed again, emotionally, sexually, in the most intimate sense ....by a man ... well, become a nun ! .. and in this respect , does her Buddhism itself become her biggest 'escape' from the groundlessness of suffering ... ? because it was in relationship itself that she met her worst experience of losing her ground, and suffering .... spiritual practices can also be a way to avoid the feeling of groundlessness, ironically ! if she knew TRUE 'forgiveness', true healing, wouldn't she have been able to return to a relationship again rather than running into celibacy and spiritual retreat ? Its just a question really.. when she speaks of our fear of groundlessness, I wonder if behind the path and the spiritual journey, the feeling she is most avoiding, is a great loneliness ..? But I can imagine being part of a community where the men have all taken vows of celibacy would feel very safe after such a terrible experience of betrayal by a man .

Con todo respeto una cosa es un retiro para meditar y otro es la soledad y el aislamiento no buscado con fines espirituales. Lo digo x personas que sufren de depresión. No nacimos para vivir aislados ojo, somos seres sociales, comunitarios, por tanto los budistas tienen el deber de aclarar esto. Por otra parte admitir que renuncian a su parte animal dando la primacía al intelecto y a la represión de sus impulsos. Lo que los hace personas no violentas. Pero un budista que tiene Naturaleza sociopata puede llegar a ser muy peligroso para la humanidad porque normalizara los horrores de los sádicos, dictadores y genocidas, pidiendo su perdón y compasión quedando libres de todo castigo. Si pertenecemos al reino animal hay que considerar que el humano es potencialmente corrupto y peligroso a nivel cultural, por tanto no se deben justificar sus malas acciones. Un abrazo

Perhaps he was appealing to the sense of 'I AM' within us .. the I AM THAT I AM that Moses heard - our own direct experience of GOd within us A lot of people seem to be too busy worshipping something or someone outside of themselves, instead of working to find the truth within.. If you truly felt such a presence within you , people would flock to it .. He said to BE like him, not to tell others to worship him ....but some spend so much time judging others for their faith, instead of actually LIVING what Jesus taught ... like NON-judgement , compassion, self-responsibility ...

True peace only comes through God the Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only way to Heaven. There is no other. Repent and believe or you will spend an eternity in hell. For all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.Know the truth and it will set you free.

Pushing your beliefs on other people shows a deep lack of true faith , not to mention a deep arrogance thinking that every bodys path must be the same .. ... It's nothing to do with what Jesus taught . Wasn't he trying to direct us to our connection to the 'I AM' within us .. our own direct experience ... .Much of his meaning may have been lost in translation, as often happens with language ... He urged us, above all, to BE like him, not to tell others to worship him ....Sometimes people seem to spend too much time judging others for their faith, instead of actually LIVING what Jesus taught ...non-judgement, compassion, self-responsibility. Buddhists have never started wars, or oppressed people of other faiths or forced them into believing, Nor do they sit in judgement on others ..they dont go on other peoples talks and tell them they should be Buddhists ...they simply WALK THEIR TALK and live the the words, and share what they have learned. I feel many Christians could learn a lot from this . Christian history : ... persecution, burning people who didnt believe in the resurrection, decimating indigenous peoples, taking their children away and putting them in schools where they weren't allowed to speak their language, destroying communities in order to push Christianity on them, even raping their children...and as for the massive number of paedophiles in the church ....In too many ways Christianity ahs become synonymous with the State, and authority ... whereas Jesus, if anything , was a barefoot revolutionary. Preaching Truth is different to living it. Preaching is holding a position of superiority, of wishing to be 'more right than' others. I never have the feeling people making these comments as above, genuinely CARE about anyone, they just need to be in the right, and make others wrong in order to sustain that feeling, which must be a deeply uncomfortable way to live. .and certainly not compssionate... note : 'or you will spend an eternity in hell' !!! bullying and threatening language for starters ...
