Crestron Programming Basic Smart Graphics Example

In this example, Dustin shows how to implement a icon list, using SIMPL code to drive subpage logic. This is a very basic demonstration but if you are just getting started it might help explain a few things around Smart Graphics.

Hello sir, thank you very much for this video. I am a beginner in programming Crestron processors with Simpl, my question is how can we turn on and off a led button using the HZ-KPCN, dimmer and RMC3 processor manual without Xpanel.

Do you mean the LED feedback of a button on the keypad itself, or an external LED? Either way to drive it you could just use a toggle symbol and connect the keypad button press to the clock on the toggle. This will give you an output that latches and flips state on the next press. If you are just driving the LED on the keypad use the output signal of the toggle and connect to feedback on the keypad. If driving an LED you could use the output of the toggle to drive a relay on the RMC3. Hope that helps.

At my job they have a creston panel that was programmed but never gave us the means to work with it. I see the ethernet port for programming but no program. I've gone to their website and made an account and tried to download the program but access was denied. We just want to change the time because it got out of sync and its been 8 years since its been installed. Any suggestions on what I can do?

The software is restricted to dealers and partners, but if it is just the time you might be able to telnet to it and use the timedate command to update it. Note that compiled code is loaded to the processor. It is possible to also upload the source code but this isn't typically done by default. That being said even if you had access to SIMPL Windows and Crestron toolbox you still wouldn't be able to actually edit the program itself without the source code. Time is just a clock on the processor, that should be adjustable as long as you can log into it. The older systems had telnet open by default, newer ones turn that off and enforce authentication.

As i see here , there is no need for analog initilaize..the intelock feedback is enugh to pop-up the sub page

I had to re-watch to remember what I was doing... the analog initialize wasn't for the popup it was to highlight the selected menu item. I don't think I explained that clearly enough around 7:50 You are correct that the interlock feedback is what is controlling the popup itself.

Why after pressing "run as" button, there is no response, even I enter the correct IP address and port ID?

There are some weird things that happen sometimes with the flash (adobe air) based stuff. What I would try is navigate to the folder where the project is, and double click on the .vtz file (after it has been compiled). That *should* launch an xpanel directly. If that still doesn't work, you could try making a test project as type "xpanel 2.0 smartgraphics". When you compile this, in the project directory it copies in an installer for an adobe air xpanel (i think an .exe file) - when you run this, it should install what your computer needs to run an xpanel. Hopefully one of these helps!
