The Honda crf250l is a dual sport, but with some modifications you can change it into more of a enduro bike. Th e bike then moves from a 50/50 to a 70/30 enduro bike. 1/change sprockets to 13 front and 42 rear. 2/ open up air box. 3/ fit FMF muffler. 4/ fit a pair of Mitas EO 7 tyres and run 10 psi both tyres . 5/ fit alloy bash plate. 6/ remove indicators . 7/ fit tail tidy. 8/ fit after market gear lever and foot brake. 8/ fit hand guards 9/ fit adjustable clutch and brake levers. Making these changes will give the bike more power( about 28bhp) increase traction through the gearing and tyres and you will now have a really capable enduro that still is really good on the road. I am 90 kilos and the suspension handles my weight really well on all sorts of off road terrain. The bike is a little heavy but you only notice this when picking it up. You get about 60 mpg and have a 2 year warranty , also servicing is every 6000 miles.( I service my crf250l about every 1500 miles) because I use it off road about 80% of the time. Considering the bike cost new around £4500, it’s a great alternative to any enduro bike. I am very pleased with mine and weekly go out riding with guys on enduro bikes, I always keep up and the bike will pull you out of trouble 90% of the time.

You should have just started with a frame and motor. All those modifications... Hell... I could have a designed and built a bike for less.
@crazyportuguese22275 жыл бұрын
I agree those mods are good, but if you dont want to or just cant spend the money its still a great bike for off road. Asks more from the rider, makes you better. My crf 250L is almost stock and i do ride hard single tracks, some hill climbs (not to insane), and even go to mx track do some little jumping

10 psi for a 330lb bike? even with the weight reductions that's brave compared to a 250 lb dirt bike.

@@patriotofgod9827 Those mods aren't even really that expensive except maybe the exhaust. Also mod 6-9 aren't really necessary at all. Sprockets are cheap, airbox mod is free, tires are a normal maintenance item, bash plate is cheap, hand guards are cheap. Exhaust, ecu, and suspension are the expensive mods.

Always makes me laugh when people make fun of a 250L. I own one that I bought for a very good deal, I made most of the mods in the book and trust me when I say, the only place bigger bikes go in front is on the highway. In tight single tracks, gnarly terrain and even long steep uphills, I ride the middle of the pack without any issues what so ever. Even climb stuff bigger bikes don't. Riding is 80% rider's skills and 20% bike. I ride with CRF450l, beta xtrainer etc.

What tires do you run? I’m having good luck with a Kenda Trackmaster 760 fr and Motoz Tractionater rear. I’ve been through several different set ups and the Trackmaster rear wears too quick and the Kenda 270 works pretty good until the hills get steep(great for gravel and pavement). From watching you staying with the 450 *(In this environment)* I can see the 450 is moving thru the stuff at lower rpms hence appears more stable , the 250 more squirrely. I'm sure you could of put the screws to him and made it a battle xD It can also have a little to do with experence and driving styles and exuberance xD... But thats my take from watching... The 450 seems more calm and stable since its operating at lower rpms. But I still think the 250 is more nimble and a better choice for trails , unless you're a really big guy and need way more torque to get thru ... My back yard is almost big enough xD But Where I live in NE Ohio Forest Preserve Dicks apparently think forest preserves and trails are only for bicyclers and bird watchers so it makes no sense for me to buy a dual sport.... Wish I had trails like that to ride nearby...
