A lot of times there is a dot on the tire marking the lightest spot (you can actually see it on the rear in the video. If you figure out the heaviest spot on the rim, put the lightest spot of the tire over it and you will use the least amount of weights.
@cyclerider56522 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, few know of this. My CRF300L came with the dot centered over the valve stems as it the dot is designed for. I recently had tires put on my car and the dots were all over the place and not centered on the valve stems. smh

I have been doing a lot of research into getting this bike for trips exactly like this. Get all kits and bags on it and slink right into the desert and around Canada. Been a fan of your videos since way back in the day and this is probably the first video I have watched of yours in a year or so hehehe even the image for my KZbin account is still your picture from what has to be my freshman sophomore year in highschool. Going into my senior year at college now man and finally its time for a nice bike seeing this video really gets me jived out

Hey Jake! Small tip for the rotopax. It tends to sand off the paint of the rear rack if you drive around in sandy areas. I would recommend putting a couple of bolts with some washers in the 4 holes you have left, which will raise the rotopax up from the rear rack. This will prevent your paint getting damaged! I used carriage/coach bolts.

Looking good. I didn't think I'd need a tank bag until I took my 2.8k trip on the Tenere, last month. I got the larger Nelson Rigg tank bag and it worked great with only a couple downsides. I was hitting rain often and if I was running my maps while charging my phone under the rain cover, it would start getting overheated. And the raincover isn't stored easily, rather bulky so I had to store it in another bag or else it would take up space in the tank bag. The TUSK brand one seems alittle better but they were out of stock at the time.
@TheGardenSnake2 жыл бұрын
In general I've given up on having a phone out while riding. They overheat with the sun hitting them, breaks the camera if on the bars. The Garmin XT is the way!!! So much better, worth the money.

Do you work for SpaceX ? I did (Cali). Fell just short of the 5yr ‘threshold’, which is the general target (though few achieve) ….. Miss much of the experience. Tiny Tip for viewers: any nut/bolt that has a semi or fully vertical orientation, Always put nut on BOTTOM. If you were ever (for some odd reason, but …) to have them come loose you want the Nut falling off. At least you have minimal holding of (part) while bolt is still in place. The opposite ensures that you have Zero holding of said part …. ymmv

Hi Jake, How does the CRFL300 compare to a XR650 on the the trails, around town, on the highway, ...? I am looking for bike that I can use for trail riding, back country fun, and commuting. It looks like an XR600 weighs a little less than the crf300L and noticeably less than the 650 and I have wondering if an upgraded vintage bike works about as well as an upgraded CRF300L....

I actually don't know if it's a good idea to add so much liquid / weight so far back so up high... Same with the panniers. As far forward towards the center of masses would be the better option. You only need space under your butt and to the aft, so that you can weigh/deweigh the bike properly in narlier terrain...
