CRF300L | Chasing a Beta RR at the 2023 Midhurst Trail Ride

Great day out at the 2023 Midhurst Trail Ride hosted by the Simcoe County Off-Road Riders Association (SCORRA). Also had a chance to ride the last half of the 125km event with an old racing buddy on his Beta RR!

I made a guy feel bad once because I said a certain SCORRA trail wasn't that hard after this guy said it kicked the shit out of him. He rode a very nice Enduro. I was on a DR200.

He raced at the pro level for a "few" years. What he's doing on this bike is pretty mild to what he did racing. He's talking through it. Like mild exercise.

Making that 300 dance! I was hoping to make it out tonthe Midhurst ride but missed registration this year. What section was that with the bridge? I have ridden a binch of SCORRA trails but I don't think i have ridden that section thats like a mtn bike trail.

Have you done any mods to the crf300L? That exceeded my expectations. Hoping to get one for my first bike but a lot of owners need to throw lots of mods at them to get it to where they're happy so im not sure but it ticks the most boxes

How would the 300l compare to a crf250rx? I have a 300l with similar mods as yours, I don't ride it on the road anymore. Pretty much all single track Enduro riding. Was thinking about a 250rx but don't have any place to test ride one.

Did you get a special horn? Use of the horn is not cool, this is not a race and people can get messed up trying to get out of the way because you are in such a hurry. Chill and let them find the spot to move over. Good video, nice work!

The “gentle” beep beep as you catch someone is a fairly courteous way to let someone know you are coming up behind them. Better than dropping a rev bomb on them when your on their back wheel. It’s not like he laid on the horn for seconds at a time. And as it isn’t a race a polite heads up sound allows riders in front to move out of the way at ease without panicking because you’re breathing down their neck.

I disagree, a little beep let's those ahead of you know you're going to be passed. Like he says "everyone takes it at their own pace." A faster rider can't be expected to spend the day behind a beginner. With a bike as quite as his you might never know he's behind you. He did the right thing. Beeping the horn is a whole lot better than being passed unexpectedly. Ride a bit more. You'll begin to understand.
