How many times was Brearley out like that! Hangs his bat out, gets a nick, a rapid head turn to see the keeper/slip catch it, tuck the bat umder his arm and trudge off.

I still think Jock Edwards is the worst international keeper I have ever seen. Club wicket keepers were/are better than his standard. I saw New Zealand play several times during the '78 tour. At Canterbury against Kent and two days of the second test at Lords (my first visit there age 13). I have an autograph book full with the names of the NZ tourists, who included amongst their number some who can't have been well known in their own homes! Of these autographs one was a particular puzzle for years. It read as "Gory Trup", but was actually that of a player named Gary Troup (though he will always be 'Gory Trup' to me).
