The collapse was indeed perplexing. It was the day for the typical English grit and their legendary stoic approach to the battle. I was sure India would lose. That India bowled magnificently is beyond doubt. I was thrilled but, at the same time, I was baffled why the they English had not dug in, formed the squares and met the Indian Cavalry charge as their forefathers had done successfully often in the past. They could have blunted India and won the day. It was an un-English approach to a reasonably attainable target. It appeared to me that the English Batsmen had not fully shaken off the ghosts of T 20. English batsmen seem to have poor footwork, playing both spin and seem. Go back and look at the fall of wickets in the whole tournament and that emerges as a common denominator. Hitting through the line or presenting a good defense gets easier when the footwork sorts itself out. Cricket 101. Could be mental too.

Im thoroughly disappointed with England this world cup. I would have liked to see a strong England showing. Mark Wood is the single player i wanted to see bowl in India, given how good his spell to the Aussies was in the ashes. 150 kph bowler. Butter, Bairstow, Malan averaging 52, Stokes, Wood... any of which could have a day out any time. No bowler could find their lines or lengths. Bats ALL garbage. Average captaincy, d9nt seem to know anything about the conditions, no luck. No nothing for England. Abysmal. And a boody shame for cricket. Imagine a firing Eng, Sa, Aus, India, Nz, maybe Pak. Would have been cracking.

Reasons for England loss: 1)Poor spin attack in sub-continent conditions (need 2-spinners like Ind/Afg, moen ali not used) 2)Poor seamer attack (Archer missing,need strong seamers) 3)Bowlers/Batters not adapting to pitch/conditions. Butler (inform batsman) should OPEN, not Johny baristow 4)Bazbal type batting/T20 style wont work in ODI of 50 overs (need to play full 50 overs) 5)After Afg loss,morale fully down & confidence lost.Real Winners spring back, but English pride makes them think "how can i lose.." and that PRIDE is not helping them to forgive themselves 6)qualification for Top-8 for champions trophy has to be motivation. Come on England you can do it !!
@1andtheOnly Жыл бұрын
Lucknow pitch has again exposed and again confirmed that england cannot bat on seaming, turning or swinging pitches. england had been making flat pitches with short boundaries on one side in england where their batters can hit sixes. english commentators are trying to cover up by saying that they are out of form... when actually the reality is they are ordinary batsmen who can only play on flat pitches and their ordinary bowlers can only bowl in test match conditions. Enough said.
