To be honest most Australians hate it! They prefer the old days of Richie Benaud and Alan McGillvray where the commentary is more mellow and understated. Harsha Bhogle is really popular too when the Indians visit.

Plenty of other bowlers took more wickets, and few others were even faster than him. But Johnson is the only bowler I can think of who made such an impact on me in a series. That combination of fierce attitude, crowd support, speed, and wicket taking ability made him electrifying to watch and probably terrifying to face.

It's interesting because Johnson wasn't consistently this fast over his entire career. In this series he was red hot but 2 years prior he was bowling mid 130s.

I'm 52, I've watched Aussie quicks from Lillee to Cummins and Mitch Johnson is my favourite. His mongrel was exactly what Australia needed after the loss of Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Martyn, Gilchrist, Warne, McGrath, Lee in a short period of time. On song he was beautiful to watch.

Those few months in early 2014, the Ashes and the test series in South Africa (Destroyed my boys) Johnson was ethereal and absolutely terrifying. It was awesome seeing batsman scared and requiring regular underwear changes again after decades of flat tracks and short boundaries. Brought back memories of the 80s and early 90s.

Thank Dennis Lillee. Johnson trained under Lillee during the preceding Australian winter and got his mojo back. Line, length, swing and control he hadn't had before, while still maintaining good pace and hostility. I think "Fot" may have also given him some tips on the care and maintenance of a moustache, lol.

A fast bowler like him or Shoaib Akhtar are always a pleasure to watch. More than pace, I enjoy their intent and the go for kill attitude. Don’t recall any recent fast bowlers having the same intent and scaring batsmen. From India, I can only think of Zaheer Khan. He didn’t have same amount of pace but the fearless attitude and go for kill intent was always a treat to watch. That’s what you call someone a bowler.

Johnson was at his potent best in the 2013 ashes. Finished the career of Trott, Carberry, Swann, Pietersen, Strauss and Ians Bell in a single series. Never saw this kind of lethal in the 80s windies bowling pack too. The fear he caused, you can see it the Batsmen's eyes. Sadly, he was mostly inconsistent throughout his career. Well many of these were not wicket taking deliveries,many were going down leg side but johnson had made such a scare with his furious spell among these english batsman that they were bound to do mistakes. One of the best exhibition of fast bowling I have ever seen in any series.

Johnson is not that good. He was amazing when he was in form. But he was not in form that often. Starc is a better version of Johnson but he got smashed by India. So Johnson would be totally useless against India this series

One thing I have understood : in Aus you need to have good reflexes to face high pace and bounce (apart from having a good technique) and no team except India (and SA between 2008-2014) have more than 3-4 batsmen in the same lineup with that capability (Eng in 2010-11 also had that ability). Indian batsmen in 2011-12 series were old and had lost their reflexes and got hammered 4-0. Otherwise they (and SA between 2008-2014) are the only teams who have done well in more than 1 tour to Aus.

Australia have always 2 or 3 genuine fast bowlers in the team...and Johnson was one of them, he was a good fast bowler with in & out position in the team...and finally he was dropped because of his form and injuries.....then after he came back...💣💣💣💣 And become two adges sword 🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️🗡️ first one is his bowling and second one is his moustache edge....also he was on fast and furious mode ...🏍️🏍️ After only 3 series he changed the whole scenario of his career..he was good but now he is a legend ....ashes series will be remember by his name .....the lethal weapon Mitch Johnson.😎😎😎😎

bit of a myth is that. The only player who retired either during or after this series was Grame Swann, and that was through his elbow injury
