no it wasn't.........india were just atrocious away from home. the year before this series, new zealand and south africa had beaten the WI at home, and the WI would lose to australia the next year 3-1, 3-0 to england the year after that and 2-0 to SA in 2005, 3 years after this series

​@@juanestadian8471so what. the Indian WC winning team too was beaten comprehensively by the WI, just after the WC, that too in India 5-0. All knew which was the better team & by far. The fact remains that WI, SA, SL, AUS, ZIM, NZ, PAK were a much much stronger team during Dada's time as compared to today's standards and beating them at their den or anywhere indeed was an achievement.

@@hirakmohanray667 exactly...and this was indias first outside subcontinrnt win (except zimbabwe)since 1986..for an indian cricket fan growing up in the 90s,this ws actually indias first overseas test victory..after this we got to witness the 2002 edgebaston,2003 adelaide,,2004 pakistan etc

Yes I remember, it was difficult to beat West Indies. And after this win, we lost next 2 tests to lose the series 2-1

@@hirakmohanray667 the indian wc team did not face an ordinary side. they faced probably the greatest cricket team in history. and they were rank underdogs for the both the series in the caribbean, which preceded the world cup and battered again at home after the world cup. nobody went into both series thinking that india could win even a test versus lloyd's team. its not the same as a very good indian team at home coming to play a very poor west indies team. as i said before, west indies barely beat pakistan and zim at home in the 2000 season, lost to both SA and nz at home in the 2001 season, lost to australia 3-1 in 2003, lost to england 3-0 in 2004, lost to south africa 2-0 in 2005, could not beat pakistan at home in 2005 as well and lost to india in 2006 at home. The only series the wi won against major opposition for 8 years was Sri lanka in 2003. india were bad travelers, that is why they lost. not because this wi team was difficult to beat

@@nsundu123 Dravid & Ganguly had a string of good scores in the series but Laxman didn't do enough justice to his reputation. The real problem were the opening batsmen. S S Das was a total flop as was Deep Dasgupta ( in two tests that he played) Wasim Jaffar had couple of half centuries but not consistent enough...
