Hi Kate! All of the old carts connect to Design Space.... Keep in mind that the Cricut Explore works with this online program only. So far, it's been really great!

Now that I think of it, I wonder....was there a tools portion that I missed? I had been wondering about blades and such? Do you need to use a different blade? heavy duty? or medium? specially made for vinyl?

+Jeanne Ritz You don't need a special blade... use the one the Explore came with. Just make sure you changed the setting to vinyl. You've probably figured that out by now :) Hope it worked!

great info! I have a Cricut Expressions and really want to upgrade to something that would cut my stamped images. I've looked for videos that demo how to "stamp and cut" w/no luck. after watching this, I'm assuming I would have to do something similar to how you got your words to cut.

+Mary M. Hi Mary! Thanks! The Cricut Expression only cuts whatever is on a Cricut cartridge. You will need to purchase the Explore to cut out original pieces... It really is worth the price!

This video is awesome. I just purchased my Explore Air a month or two ago and I love it. I tried to do this with a single word, simple design. It worked well until I saved it. My screen is slightly different than yours. Now when I go to insert images it is not there. Even though I did everything and saved it with tags and everything. Do you have any ideas for me? Thanks!

Hi Julie! I will always keep my old Expression because I have all the cartridges you need to cut. It’s more of a collector’s item at this point however. You are not able to use your own designs. I’m glad you have the new one... you must use your laptop, iPad, or cell phone to design & cut. I’ve used vinyl of various brands including Cricut and JoAnn’s brand. They’re both good. Just make sure it’s labeled permanent if you want it to remain in place. The type you want just comes down to the kind of project you’re doing. There’s even iron-on vinyl! Enjoy your new Cricut! Have fun with it! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. 💖

I purchased Oracal 631 vinyl on Amazon, but I've also bought it at JoAnn. This vinyl is good for items that you may wash. However, I'm pretty sure that the vinyl that I used in this video was Cricut vinyl... it's been perfect. Have fun with your new Explore! Merry Christmas!

Jennifer Love Hi Jennifer! You may have figured it out by now, but just in case, here's a little help... Click on "Layers" and make sure you have also clicked on your object on the mat. In "Layers", click on the pen next to the object image. "Line Type" will pop up. You can then click the "Cut" button at the top of the pop up. Things have changed, updated & improved since I posted this video...now there is the print option. Hope this helps!! :)

Hi Alyssa - I was never able to do anything like this on any other Cricut machine. The previous machines only allow you to cut out whatever comes on a Cricut cartridge. The Explore is near unlimited! It only requires your imagination! :)

Dianna Flowers I loved creating with my Expression, however, you are limited to using only Cricut images. The Explore is pretty limitless!! I'm excited for you...I recommend using the Cricut Craft Room to get started. Enjoy!

+Shay Harrison Hi Shay - I actually have 3 cake machines... 2 mini machines and one full size!!! I tried out one when I first got it years ago... it worked fairly ok. Since you make cakes, I think you'd find a lot of good use from it. Let me know if you try it out!

Once a cartridge is linked to someone else's account, typically, you are not able to link it to any other. You can contact Provo Craft to be sure.

After I was able to do it so easily with the Explore, I gave it a try on the Silhouette... I couldn't figure it out! I could probably search for a tutorial on youtube, but it all seemed too complicated compared to the Explore. I think the Explore is much easier and user friendly.

Actually... I like/love it even more!!! I've been able to do so much with it! I've had many projects that have required multiple cuts of the same shapes...it's saved me so much time, and it's allowed me to be more creative.

Hi Casey - You don't need to connect your iPad to the Explore or the computer....I simply sent it via email. Hope you're able to give it a try. You can get real creative with this! :)

You can use any size paper... as long as it covers the area you need cut. The great thing is that you can look at the mat in design space and match up the paper on your actual mat. Hope that helps!

Julie Santiago Hi Julie - I was able to cut both on the same mat by utilizing "Sync" located at the top. Click on the object, then click on sync. In "sync" you can move the object to the same color row as your signature. It should then cut on the same mat. I hope that helps.

Hi Keri - Hopefully by now you've been able to work the program or find a comparable program to do what you need. I recently used Skitch on another project and found it to be a bit more complicated... I just had to play around with it a bit to get familiar with the Skitch updates.

adisneydesigner Hi! Make sure you click on the image in design space, then click on "layers". In layers, click on "Unflatten". Once you unflatten your image, you can click on the "scissors" image to cut. Hope that helps... if you haven't already figured it out... sorry for the late reply. Have fun with your Explore!

Haxpatty I figured it out! VERY IMPORTANT on STEP3: When you are creating your uploaded image, there is a new option that says, "preserve original image within shape. recommended for printing." You need to DISABLE this option as it automatically selects it. This will stop telling the software to print the image before cutting. It will crate a cut template "outline" and not an actual image to be printed. Hope this helps everyone having this problem!

Hello. I am trying to cut my name, but it is not cutting at all. It cuts like it is but nothing there. It promted to print (and I did). Why? I did download the app Skitch to write my name. My cricut is Explorer Air 2. What am I doing wrong? :(

+Anita LaTour Check your material dial...are you cutting vinyl, paper, fabric? Other than that, I would suggest contacting Cricut to guide u through step by step...they could help you find what step you may be missing. You'll get it...keep trying! :)
