When a New Yorker try’s to explain everything to a person that’s from Detroit or Chicago

More like trying to explain to anyone from a non-urban area. Too many non-city people listen to the TV telling them all cities are crime-ridden cesspools.

Been to NYC a couple of years ago. Stayed there for 3 days I think and saw first-hand how a lady got robbed. The guy that grabbed her purse (or smartphone not sure) ran right past me and down the street. Right after him the lady came running screaming 'he robbed me' or sth. It was at a Harlem subway station. Complete stereotypes I know, but I swear that's exactly what happened. Soooo ... what are the odds or does this shit happen all the time? :D

It's interesting. Stuff like this doesn't happen all the time here, but it obviously happens. Numerically more, but per capita less than many small cities and towns. The difference here is there is almost always someone (like you) to witness it. If this happened in Kalamazoo, Indiana, odds are there would be no witnesses. Just a police report. Always be aware, but NYC is absolutely NOT the crime ridden heck hole TV News makes it out to be.
