16x9: The Real Glee

What started at the grassroots level has grown to be one of the top contenders at the 2013 Show Choir Canada national competition -- a competition that the Wexford "Gleeks" have spent months preparing for. And 16x9 followed them, rehearsal after rehearsal, in the months leading up to the competition.

There's going to be jealousy because of this, but everyone needs to remember that this is simply a celebration of a high school arts program and the people who began it. Let's not make this a fight between art departments and keep the focus on the fact that any positive press for an arts program is positive for all arts programs.

Well maybe because the MT program worked our way to deserve a documentary. we didn't ask for a documentary, global chose to. We've won comps, done amazing in shows, done cool gigs...

and I dont hate the mt kids...dont get me wrong. :I some of my best friends are in it. They are in that documentary above actually. :I Im just saying.....dont forget the artists.

I'm a mess right now. I miss this school so much. fitforsoccer000, I'm pretty sure EFT and Tapping are the same thing. If not, tapping's a part of it. But yes, it does look like it. haha It was only a matter of time they started doing that at Wex.

Even if im not in the Musical Theater program or the spotlight (visual art kid here) i am proud to call this my school and that i see us in media quite a bit since i started to go to this school and seeing my friends in this video made me so happy

Speaking as a now 38yo former "honorary"** artsie, I think it's fan-freaking-tastic that ANY segment of arts education is getting profiled in the media. Even in the early 90s funding was short & it's not improved in the least since then. A piece like this is aimed at adult taxpayers, tbh. ...

so why doesnt the art department get a documentary?? oh yeah cause we are actually really boring and no one cares about our art anymore. :I I do say this with a little bit of jealousy (which I dont like the fact that I am) but....Wex was born a visual art school. The painters, sculpters, and photographers really started it all. So where is our credit?

You know what would be some really good documentaries!?? Why a lot of the MT department hates on the art department. Or to bring it back to the gleeks why they really lost. why did etobicoke really win?? Well maybe it had something to do with the judges. There is obviously something dirty going on in that competition. and if someone say there isnt thats a load of bs. wex should have won.

The performing arts is a more social area of the arts which is why we get more publicity.. You guys do deserve a documentary and a lot, but a documentary doesn't make a program better it just touches the fact that the arts are more than just kids who will be working at McDonalds for the rest of their lives. Like Barb said, it shows off the Arts in general. There wouldn't be controversy if no one started it. The painters and performers are like the introverted and extroverted twin brothers.

Groups like 16x9 film what makes money. Glee got popular, they did a story on this group. Jealousy won't do you any good.
