I'll say he was about to hurt my mother if had to fight him to protect us I would...even though he was pretty bigger and much stronger than me I would have had to fight him off with all my strengths and might even if I bleeded a little I wouldn't have let him hurt her, my grandmother wanted to fight him she was older so she wasn't as tough as I would have been. Not only that I've gone through emotional abusive bullying P.T.S.D from a work place the punk named Jamal was a bullying manipulator out to get what he wanted if he'd hype you up,he'd put you down to make you feel like a fool... he'd twist things around just to throw you off from the truths smh...that time when he tried to set me up to fail at work to get me fired I pissed but I had to stop him...or else I would have had no choice but to beat his ass,luckily I'm not around him no more I'm with nicer people and if I see him I'd say hi and bye like he don't even exist...he was lucky I didn't lay him out in front of my other supervisor charelle. I served in Law Enforcement for over 18+ years. Arrested many a domestic violence abuser. Many sent to jail or prison. A lot of cases dropped by the abused spouse. We would get called back to the same residence over and over again. Until ultimately the women would either be killed by their abuser husband/boyfriend. I believe women should learn self defense. The abusers never stand up to a real man, they are cowards. In later years in my career we seen an uptick in men getting abused by their female partners and didn't want to report it ( until neighbors or family called us to report the incidents). The cycle of violence has to stop. Men should never lay a hand on a woman ( and the same for women). But ladies, please get out if you can, these abusers are manipulative and will do it again. Get yourself some training or self defense. Protect yourself and your children ( if you have any).

@KadaCombs I agree. I never thought it would happen to me, but I also was a male victim of domestic violence. My ex spouse was physically and emotionally abusive and violent. Even though I was a cop, I tried to report it to my supervisors many times ( had physical injuries, which I took pictures of and documented dates and times). I was told by my supervisors, "can't you take care of your own s**t in your own house." Not only was I a victim, and tried to do the right thing, I was turned away. I attempted to report it to the Sheriff's office. Was basically told the same thing ( I documented who I spoke with, dates, times and rank). Yes, today, law enforcement is taking actions against female abusers. Back in mid 2000's, they sure didn't. It had to get when she made statements and attempt to shoot me with my own duty weapon ( her two children heard what she said as well), and she further added, "I can get away with it, since I'm black." I was able to sleep at a fellow officers house due to the violence I was dealing with. Then she used the "race card" and attempted to file bogus charges against me. Cost me $15,000 in attorney fees. I was completely cleared ( her own children testified against her). My attorney also went after the Deputies and investigators ( along with supervisors at my own department). Three Deputies lost their jobs and two at my Agency. So it definitely put a target on my back. I had notes left at my residence and vehicle threatened with "taking me out, making it look like a suicide." I turned everything over to my attorney. It was never discovered who made the threats. So yeah, I know about men being abused by females. You can see all over YT women getting arrested for DV or abuse. It's about time. I went through a living hell for three years. To the men getting physically abused, document everything, take pictures, install surveillance cameras ( covertly) in your place, call law enforcement. Like I said, it's about time female abusers are being held accountable for their actions.

Mitch acknowledged that if he lands one good time, it’s over, so the movie acknowledges exactly what some of yall are saying and thinking. But this scene is just another example of a big guy with no skill, no training and no stamina against a small woman who is trained and was prepped for everything he could do by a big man who specializes in this type of training. If you see the training video prior to this scene, it showed everything that Mitch did in this scene and she was trained well to be ready for all of it. Also there’s a few things to remember for this scene in particular… 1) The movie did a pretty good job of showing how tough Slim was since the beginning with taking punches 2) She was coated in vaseline so he couldn’t grip her during this scene 3) She had on timberlands (likely steel toe) so those kicks would be nasty and that’s why the one she landed knocked his head back. 4) She also had big rings on under those hand wraps so those punches and slaps were like wearing brass knuckles so even if he blocked, that would still hurt.

I'm a young adult dude, and I will say while it has its good qualities, I consider this movie fairly unrealistic in its depiction of domestic violence in quite a few ways. I always felt like the movie was nothing more but building up to the concept of an abused wife giving her husband a taste of his own medicine, as opposed to before she actually kills him in "self-defense". I just think the audience is simply supposed to cheer at her kicking the shit out of his ass. I also think it makes abusive men look far more evil than it has to. Felt very Hollywood/Lifetime indeed.

Actually, it is realistic. Mitch is an untrained abuser he goes for the easy shots that use his strength against his much smaller opponent. Slim, on the other hand, had a trainer working with her who was bigger than Mitch, who showed her how a fighter with no training fights and how to get free of the holds they use. Untrained fighters, for example, go for the throat, a quick choke, and an opponent is down. A trained fighter KNOWS it's too easy to get out of a neck grab and would use a different method, the good old fashioned choke hold which is arm around the neck rather than hands, it's easy to break out of a hand hold when the fingers cannot go around the neck, but the neck inside an elbow crease with the rest of the arm locked around it is much harder, not impossible, but harder to get out of. Being prepared to get free of the moves that untrained fighter use is the first thing they teach in self defense course for women. We also learn how to get out of better holds such as the choke hold and even the splayed position we're usually held down in when assaulted

A lot of guys overestimate their fighting abilities when they haven't been in an extended fight or played sports since high school. The average middle aged office worker is no killer. I went to a BJJ class for the first time since high school and after a few minutes I felt dead on energy and weak. I would stall and then try to fight in a 3 second burst before I was dead again and I was clearly bigger than the dude I was grappling. It sucked. People like that are so obsessed over their image that they will beat, torture, stalk, even kill, to maintain the lie they’ve made everyone else believe about them. @@NavyGuy2OO7 like I said, in general women aren’t strong enough to beat up a man, but there are exceptions, for example if the man is smaller and lighter than she is, or if he’s out of shape and she’s a bodybuilder and trains in boxing or martial arts of some kind, or just the rare chance that she’s just genetically stronger because of her parents being strong and passing those genes on. My point wasn’t that women can’t beat us up, it was just that it’s very rare for them to be stronger than us because basic biology has dictated that men have denser bones and a greater durability in general, women beat us out in pain tolerance but men can take as well as fish out more punishment without complaining too much
