I have recently received a call from a Chinese national speaking in Mandarin claiming to be from a local bank, I instantaneously knew it was a scammer. I spoke to him in Mandarin to advice him to cough once if he has been tortured by someone and was forced to make the call, I said confidently that I know the situation they were in, and would seek help for him if he did so. To my surprise he paused for a second, coughed stealthily before deciding to hang up on the call. (I believe they were on a constant scrutiny). The entire call was placed on loudspeaker on my phone in the presence of my colleagues, it was shocking to witness. I believe many of them had been a job hunt victim and were abducted into Myanmar/Laos and tortured if they do not scam a certain sum of money per day.

Recently I received many spam calls, immediately I hung up and blocked them. WTF. These scammers should find a decent job please, don’t go around scamming innocents

And also the one who voluntarily did this for all I am to guess they must have first been through some very nonsensical problem to become like this so in a way involuntarily too just like some of us only want to work and get our paycheck but unnecessary obstacle keep getting in our way and we end up feeling fedup and decided to scam as either revenge or get income hence could explain why they don't feel anything since they could have been be once victim to something too

Once a scam caller threatened to send police to arrest me so I thanked him for his kindness. He was shocked and asked why. I explained I thanked him for giving me enough notice to escape. He cut off the call. 😂

With all the impersonation scams going around, it's making the work of real police officers even harder in different ways. A while back, I got a call from someone claiming to be a police officer, saying I was involved in a case. I actually told them to f*ck off because I thought it was another scam. Turns out, they were an actual officer, and I had to go through the whole hassle of going to the station, only to find out they needed my witness statement. So, is there anything the police can do to prove they're legit right from the start?

I can't believe I had fallen for an impersonator who used deepfakes to fool me given my first encounter with those who use a different method to execute their modus operandi. Now I've understood how they convince others' hearts; I now know what to do should I encounter a similar situation.

Our government also have responsible to improve the situation you know. Like educate us more on scammers tactics. I have one time almost get scammed I go make police report. They say if they cheated your money then can make report. I means we should have the right to make report even the money is not being cheated right. Then have to monthly monitor then can keep up with the newest scammers tactics and warn public.

@clee266 I actually once fell victim for a scammer too, and I lost around S$7000. After that I became a prayer fighter against those scammers. I hope every victim will receive back double, and those scammers shall not steal anymore, but work with their own hands to get an honest living.

After that I became educated about them, and I really hope they find an honest work with honest wages, and pay back their victims. But if they do it not, those scammers will enjoy evil now, but pay a much higher price later.

I know law enforcement are working hard and doing their best. Takes 2 weeks to flag out the suspicious transaction is a little too long, by then the funds are long gone so does the elderly's hard earned savings. Hopefully there's AI going forward to speed up the process of the flagging for all this scams.
