I was just at KKH Child Development Unit this monday, when a father slap his child, and whip out his belt from his pants. I quickly ran over, and so did my husband. NONE of the nurses intervened. We are at a child development care unit (literally my child's doc was checking my daughter for signs of abuse) and yet none of the nurses did anything to stop the abuse. Im loss for words. Thankfully my husband stepped in and ask him to chill. The father had the audacity to say he is "v chill". My husband ask him to wear back his belt, he obliged, but he shouted loudly to his son "follow me downstairs, i will teach u a lesson!" Imagine what he will do at home, if he is already doing this in public.

Ya, as someone who grew up in an abusive household it's normal to just keep quite, because trying to help only means you suffer too. The thing is, we get berated and called "kaypoh" if we intervene in family conflicts. People end up looking stupid when trying to help victims of abuse, especially when the victims ultimately go back and side with their abusive family because "they are still my family". Perhaps this is the reason why even governmental bodies and NGOs would do so little because abuse victims would prefer to stick with what is familiar, even when it's harming them.
@maydomainАй бұрын
but the thing is, in this case, all of the victims are still CHILDREN. They are not adults in an abusive household, they are children trapped with monsters that didn't even choose to live with their trash parent. With Aisyah, how can they let her go back like that when the household is clearly abusive and not fit, how can they think "oh yea...i dont think we should intervene with this child's clearly abusive household and just let her be abused everyday"...even after that one child already called child protection services several times...why nothing can be done 😭 It could be prevented if only the child protection services or other NGOs are willing to break those boundaries of "internal family conflicts"
@zerodegreescelsiusАй бұрын
@maydomain have you considered the fact that most of these so-called NGOs are just people who do it as a job instead of a mission? They take action by checking off a list and would want to close as many cases as possible to hit their quota. These so-called NGOs are just there to hit the numbers and would never take personal responsibility. That's how it goes.

In a school I used to teach at, there were many kids that were (suspected) to be neglected and abused. But as teachers, when we contact the parents and they act like everything is fine there is really nothing much we can do. If we were to take the risk of reporting it just to be safe, and it turns out to be untrue we would lose our jobs. In this case because the parents did come up with stories to cover up their tracks I believe it was also difficult for the different government bodies to investigate more even if they truly believed that something is not right. Even if there is a 1% chance that the parents are telling the truth and they were to complain, it’s ggwp for whoever that insist on investigating.

Foster care gets a bad reputation, cause unfortunately, some people are only interested in the paychecks that come with taking care of the foster child. In Singapore, foster parents get an allowance of $1.1K to care for the child; the amount can go up to $1.5K for a child with special needs, such as autism. Here is the problem: it is very hard to track how the money gets spent, cause even receipts do not tell the whole picture. Too many times, foster parents will just provide the bare minimum (if at all), and pocket the rest for themselves. It's very easy to "wayang" in front of social workers, children can be easily bought over or cowed to submission. A spider web of lies and deception can be spun just like that.

They should’ve been charged with life sentence… This is an extremely tragic case and I have no words for the parents… they did horrible things to a 2 year old?! They are crazy… I hope they rot in jail…

As a person living with 3 people in a 3 room apartment i can confirm it’s already way too cramped. (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 living room, 1 kitchen and a hallway ofc) and yes i sleep in the same bed as my mom for anybody wondering.

What u mean MSF can't stop the situation from happening? If u know something not right take the kids away from the parents n put them with a foster parents again! The system is such a failure!

The parents are still young....potential to produce more kids...and its not only them...its a sizable figure from this community....so how many kids can you take away from??
