Coin dealer was probably a crook, and did a lot of business in dark car parks. People who aren't crooks wouldn't do it.

The bath attack reconstruction is this the infamous bath attacks that was reconstructed in January 2000 and mentioned during the Melanie hall reconstruction. It feels strange that with the amount of publicity and with D.N.A this guy has not been caught (unless he has)

I would loved to have known if the coin dealer robbers were ever caught. They clearly had some knowledge of coins and you’d think that it would be a small community of people with that interest and that a culprit would be known in the community.

Thanks for posting Andy. I wonder if you have the February or March 95 episode featuring the Margaret Wilson murder (that was mentioned in a progress report in the January 96 episode)? It was the first Crimewatch I ever saw (I remember the nutcase running up and attacking her on the country lane that was shown in the clip in the progress report show).

They do that once the suspect has been arrested . After the arrest it could be deemed prejudiced to repeatedly air the photo should the case go before a jury .

I tend to forget thet Fiona Bruce took over after the death of Jill Dando but I stopped watching Crimewatch regularly in 2005 when I started working 4 on 4 off nightshifts. I only watched the odd episode here & there between 2005-2014 I wasn't as interested then.

In its final few months crimewatch was abysmal .One episode had a 10 minute segment with Jeremy vine showing viewers how to drive their car.

I remember the episode they were at the location where Stephen Lawrence was murdered & there were chavs waving at the cameras & twats in their souped-up cars revving the guts out of the engines & tooting, I just thought this will never go for long.

A crimewatch appeal in January 2000 resulted in a call suggesting the son of a diplomat who came in and out of the country.Police travelled to speak to him but won't give any more information concerning this man.It's all gone quiet apparently since then.

Jacqui Hames on the identity theft woman: "She may come from the Irvine area of Strathclyde." Irvine is in Ayrshire, whereas Strathclyde is Glasgow, two completely different cities.

There used to be a region of Scotland called Strathclyde which included a huge area, basically most of west/central Scotland, so Jacqui Hames was correct at the time to use that description. See the map on this page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strathclyde

I grew up in Glasgow and that’s correct. I expect Jacqui said Strathclyde because the police force covering that region was called Strathclyde Police. We used to go swimming in Irvine in the 80s.
