This is my favorite Tim Curry role that he played!! He is such a great actor. If this episode and the previous one (This episode leading off from the last one) were put together and released as a movie, Tim Curry would've made a MAJOR comback movie. It would have been called "The Prince Of Darkness" or "When The Lights Go Out" or something like that.

Tim Curry was known for portraying villains like Rex Pester (Rugrats Movie), Prof. Calamitous (Jimmy Neutron), Pennywise (IT), Billy Flynn a.k.a Prince of Darkness (Criminal Minds), Goblin King (Scooby Doo and the Goblin King). Tim Curry’s roles are very convincing in every way. Although the Goblin King wasn’t really bad, he punished the evil magician, Krudsky for usurping his throne and for kidnapping his daughter, Willow. The Goblin King later took Krudsky back to his realm so he couldn’t cause anymore havoc on the human world.

Hotch avenged his ex-wife’s death by beating Foyet to death in “100”, also he got his revenge on Foyet for stabbing him multiple times at his home and for putting him in the hospital. In “Route 66”, Hotch had to undergo emergency surgery due to the stab wounds inflicted by Foyet. Hotch was in limbo and he saw his ex-wife, Haley and his arch-enemy, Foyet when watching home movies. Hotch and Foyet were later on neutral terms, he advised Hotch to loosen up and smile more often. Haley advised her ex-husband to move on and she knew that Beth was a perfect woman for him.

Umm JJ Nine yes, I saw it. And solely based on that, I’d have loved to kill him, myself… “Sorry”, but you can’t accuse me of being a racist, without evidence. That’s just offensive.. I made the deduction of him being repentant, based on his body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice - which not even pure psychopaths can fake. ESPECIALLY not to an expert “behavioral analytic”. Because of Derek’s - not massive - but still, slightly, unnecessarily enlarged, and damaged ego - due to his past (seeing his dad getting shot - and himself being raped) - he overreacted, because he was overpowered and tortured, in the previous episode.

I don't know the way others feel but this scene was emotional for me... I get a bit annoyed that Morgan seems so contemptuous towards him. Most people don't realize that most 'criminals' are suffering in ways that other people just don't understand. Which is sad because in this era of information and perceived 'intelligence' you'd think they would or could. Morgan speaks as if he 'knows' the unsub just because he profiles him but this isn't true at all. When he tells him that he doesn't kill because he thinks its 'helping' them its as if you can still feel that he is human. He knows he was only doing all of that because he suffers. When he finally commits to the act that would kill him... It's a bit of a heartbreaking relief. You hope for him on some level that he really will be released from his hell once and for all despite what he did.
@DevilGeneImbued5 жыл бұрын
Well, as much as I agree with you there is a great difference in other unsubs compared to some of the other mentally ill and devious ones. You're talking more about the cases where psychotic breaks force people into doing what their altered mind thinks is best (example: Father who believed his daughter was kidnapped but alive, or the soldier who thought everyone was an imposter) and when you learn about this, the twisted thing is that you understand why they do things. The Prince of Darkness is different in the fact that he took people to die and made families suffer through murder, rape, and exposure to it all. He did that because of the pain he was given as a child, and when they told him, some part of him always knew that. It's why Derek asked if he thought he was helping people, the prince knew that too. He was using his baggage as reasoning to inflict pain on others. There's sympathy and there are lines you don't cross. the Prince was a sadistic, evil sonofabitch who finally understood why in the end, but that doesn't change what he was. I always agreed with Morgan on his choice, even if he was itching to kill him.
@melissarupert49255 жыл бұрын
Daniel Forrester yes while illness may cause these criminals but that's just life kill or be killed in many senses if we let people do what they want because we let our compassion outway what they've done wrong then what will stop them when it comes to criminals like these they should be stoped at any means necessary no matter what mental illness it has because life isn't fair but the fine line is if he would of shot Morgan do you think that couple would of lived. Fine line is it doesn't matter in that moment what happend to him where here he's killed people and we need to stop it. The whole point of the show was to show mental issues with criminals and how they cause this but that there still criminals and they give them chances to surrender because of what they've been through trying to stop them but when ever it comes down to the ending of episodes and the climax ist always mellow to show the complexity of the situation and how they may be mentally ill but that doesn't give them any right to do as they see fit because when it comes down to it no matter what caused this it's no right to hurt anyone who had nothing to do with any of this.
@terrawhitfield43174 жыл бұрын
Morgan wasn’t necessarily showing contemp at the end of the episode. He was showing no fear. The guy wanted fear, a reaction from Morgan, and Morgan (knowing this based on his profile) led him to act the way he was towards him so that Flynn wasn’t getting what he wanted. There is a fine line between contemptuous and not letting the bastard killer get the best of you. Not just that, but throughout the whole series, you see that that is just dericks role. That is his part. Every episode (mostly) that is how he is. It was a little amped up in this one, but what else do you expect from Morgans character when he promises something like he did? And the quotations around criminals? Really? You want to tell me and every other person who watches this series that Flynn wasn’t a criminal? How many families did he murder? More than 30? More than 50? At least since 1968 right? I think that makes him a criminal yeah? Maybe in a decent amount of these shows some of the criminals are suffering in ways that you proclaim they don’t understand, but if I recall correctly, all the ones with some thing wrong with them or whatever it may be, the team finds their stressor, they UNDERSTAND then. And that’s all that matters bc they still understood. Morgan speaks as if he knows the unsub because he does. Based on the teams profiles, they find out everything they possibly can about the unsub. Which leads them to know enough about them. Would you wanna get all cozied up with a man who just killed someone right in front of you? Find out his entire life story and really FEEL for him? In the end it’s not that Flynn KNEW he wasn’t killing them to help them he REALIZED that as soon as derick mentioned it to him and asked if thats what he thought. “I guess not”. Flynn’s words. He assumes he isn’t helping them. He didn’t realize that til Morgan pointed it out. He was doing what he was doing not because he was suffering but like every other unsub throughout the series he wanted to. He beat the women, raped them, etc. he knew what he was doing and the way he did it didn’t show any sign of not wanting to. If he was suffering from his childhood, ofc he’d do what he was doing. But it wasn’t necessarily because he was suffering. It was because he wanted to. He wanted the power he was getting from it bc he was narcissistic. Simple. He didn’t finally stand up and point his gun at someone instead of dropping it so that he was released from all the wrong and guilt he felt. When he did what he did in the end to be shot dead by derick Morgan it wasn’t bc he finally felt remorseful or anything along those lines. It’s because he knew what he had done and how he wasn’t getting out of it. Just as every other unsub that does what he does at the end of episodes do. Just because he was “crying” in the end of the episode doesn’t mean he is automatically the good guy and should be empathized. If I was to shoot someone you knew, or even someone you didn’t know, if I started crying and blaming it on my mental health would you suddenly forgive me and feel bad? If it was vise versa my answer would be hell no. I’d shoot you right back. Not out of spite but bc like Morgan, I would not feel sorry for you one bit. Not after what you’d done. What if seen you do. You did what you did and that’s that. I wished on some level that he would of been put in an even deeper hell for what he did as a murderer. A criminal. Shooting him saved him from a hellish prison. Where he should of gone. If you were Flynn, I would say the exact same thing. Wrong and bad are just that. Wrong and bad. And everything he did after being released from juvi was wrong and bad and no matter what pain was going on in his head, he still did wrong and bad. Which ultimately, I believe was just what Derrick knew as well. The murderers aren’t the hero’s. And Morgan wasn’t gonna let him keep believing he was. Why feed a narcissists ego?

Morgan is shown to be very protective towards children. For example, Morgan killed Flynn in “The Longest Night”, so he wouldn’t harm Ellie or anybody else and Morgan spared Jeremy in “Safe Haven”, and he was put into custody for attempting to harm Carrie again and Morgan promised to attend Jeremy’s parole hearings and make sure that Jeremy will receive a life sentence in prison.

IT DOESN'T EXCUSE HIM KILLING PEOPLE 😄morgan had every right to be pissed off and aggressive. He literally took a CHILD and could of done god knows what and they wouldn't of known. Sure he had a bad past, but killing people is never EVER an excuse. Hurting others because of your pain can never be an excuse.

It’s Tim Curry he was Pennywise in the original It and was in movies like Congo in 1995, The Hunt For Red October, Home Alone 2, among other movies where usually plays a villain.

Tim Curry’s roles is shown to be very convincing, especially his villainous portrayals like Rex Pester (Rugrats Movie), Prof. Calamitous (Jimmy Neutron), or Pennywise (IT). Although, in real life, Tim Curry had coulrophobia also known as a fear of clowns when he played the role of Pennywise.

Knowing the unsub is the same person who voiced Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys is mind blowing. Upon realizing that, the inner fan of that show inside me went insane!

Tim Curry did a fantastic job here. But I'd never expect any less.

Interesting fact: Tim Curry's character was inspired and loosely based off of Richard Ramirez aka The Night Stalker.
