This one is especially disturbing & realistic the child actors did such an Amazing Job.

The son did not even say what that vile trash did to him for me to immediately know and be heartbroken. Both child actors are excellent. I felt like this actually happened to them. 😭😭😭

Same here. Saw it once and that was quite enough for me :l Either I skip it entirely or I do what I did for this reaction: Skip the most gut-wrenching parts and watch the in-between.

I remember a quote from an earlier episode "A shade of Grey" where the detective questions how what happened (Older brother kills younger brother and they discovered the truth) served anyone. What good was it all... to which David Rossi quote "We don't get to pick who wins, detective. Even if that means no one does.". I feel that way in this episode. But the important thing is the smile within the family especially Robert at 19:26

You would never be able to name a punishment too cruel for someone who hurts kids. They deserve the worst of the worst.

I will have to disagree with you, Grace. Now, if the child was murdered afterward then yes, slowly lower the offender in molten steel. But if the child still lives, then death is a bit extreme. Wouldn't it be better for the offender's genetalia be sawed off with a serrated knife then cauterized? After knowing true pain he will live the rest of his life not as a man or woman, just an it.

This is so unbelievably gross! What makes me furious is that people are trying to normalize this behavior and compare it to consensual adult relationships. UGH! EDIT: I like to think that the ones that 'get away' and don't pop up again in later episodes run into other serial killers and become victims themselves. For example, this guy runs into the eastern version of the Mulford brothers from season 2 who hunted people for sport.

I like to pretend Dexter exists in the Criminal Minds universe. All the ones that escape or get off light end up on his table. I'd be cool with that. Massive respect for the actors though, it can't be easy to crawl into the skin of such a freak for an acting role.

This is actually one of my favorite episodes, disturbing and gut wrenching though it is to watch; I have to give major, major props to Gill Gayle (Shane Wyland,) Gattlin Griffith (Robert Brooks) and Emily Alyn Lind (Anna Brooks. They acted the hell out of their guest starring roles, which made it all the more compelling, riveting and disturbing/horrifying. People talk about how this episode was too disturbing and dark. Well, it's called "Criminal Minds" for a reason… I always hoped they'd revisit this storyline either at some point during the 15th and final season of the original run or when it was re-launched on Paramount+. Have Wyland remain active/on the hunt, but maybe have his latest victim kill or incapacitate him in some fashion at the end right before the BAU show up. or, even better (though I know there's no way this would work,) bring back Robert and Anna to help the team search for him and have them present when he's either arrested or killed.

"Do unto others..." comes to mind, so - some form of whatever they did to their victims should be their punishment. If they think that it's okay to do something to another person then they have no right saying that it should not be done to themselves.

Sadly that's a realistic part, only a quarter of murders are solved, and of the solved ones it's not 100% justice in the outcome either. Some get away on a technicality, or the lawyer did great and got lucky with jury selection, or they have information on a bigger fish, some of have tons of circumstancial evidence but nothing concrete, so everyone knows they did it but can't punish it. Also chomos get offensively light sentences in many cases. Hate how realistic the end of the episode is, chances of getting away with it are way too high.

He wouldn't but he should. He definitely was trying to but the kid fought back and then he was going to kill him. I don't believe he was refraining from that lifestyle at all plus he was drug dealing and protecting other creeps so he definitely should get the death penalty.

I liked this video and watched the beginning, but I think I will not finish this episode. This one made me sick to my stomach, when I first watched it. Not a particular fan of death penalty, but these kind of individuals deserve it. Definitely. I see red, when it comes to children and animals being abused.

I wish for those sentenced to death to donate organs if people know what the criminal has done and are still comfortable taking a life saving organ. Viable organs shouldn't go to waste if people know who they're coming from and still want those organs in their body so they can live.
