Funny you mention that, I was actually thinking Genji (the first game on PS2 not its sequel the meme'd to death PS3 launch game) should be featured in this video too. It's a beautiful game with nice combat similar Onimusha but with jump button. The only negative is that the game is way too short. Thanks to that crab meme, Genji will be forever associated with PS3 launch woes and the original game in PS2 forgotten.

Beetle Adventure Racing on the N64 is a pretty fun game even that gets overlooked. I know I rented it four times before I finally bought it on clearance at some small game store. Beyond Oasis is a great game. Collecting hearts buffs your health, collecting gems buffs your mana. You can use breakable weapons of different power, but there are also ways to get infinite powerful weapons if you pass a challenge. Maze-like dungeons, puzzle-like bosses. Some hidden mechanics like summoning spirits from enemies and inventory items. Very nice animations. One of my favourites. Happy to see it mentioned.

The blonde-haired woman replacing the Borgman character in the western version of Cyborg Hunter looks kind of like she could be "anime Bonnie Tyler". I feel like Beyond Oasis is more accurately described as "formerly overlooked". Deeper in the game, with access to all moves, weapons and spirits, Legend of Oasis for the Saturn is something really special, like Beyond Oasis before it, the only thing it needed was a sequel later in the Saturn's life so it could turn into an amazing trilogy. In fact, all overhead SEGA games from Golvellius onwards are great games. I like how you can combo while dashing with Guy in Final Fight 3, it's also possible to moonwalk and double tap < while holding R to dodge attacks too, it's indeed a great game for the SNES, nice soundtrack but no much variety, and letterboxed like all Capcom games on the console, indeed the best FF game for me.

So glad you mentioned Skyblazer, as it really doesn't get enough love! Though I think it's funny how you mentioned the game being difficult in spots and often frustrating, as I found it to be quite possibly the easiest 2D platformer I've ever played -- I rented it from BlockBuster back in the day, and literally beat the whole game on my first sitting. But I liked it enough that I went out and bought it afterward, so I could replay it again and again! Definitely didn't find any part of the game even the slightest bit challenging, though, nor was I ever frustrated for even a moment. If anything, it was kind of a relaxing game to play, since I could almost just zone out and beat the whole thing without even paying attention to it. I also think it's funny that you mention hating the stage with the wind currents, as that's -- again -- quite possibly one of my favorite stages in any 2D platformer, ever. I LOVE that there's not a single piece of solid ground in the entire stage, and you just have to ride wind currents to get to the exit -- it feels so freeing and fun, and is such a cool change of pace from other platformer games of the time!

The ladies on the back of the Virtua Racing Deluxe box are truly "Out of this World".. as in, they look like they came from that game. 😅 Seriously the best thing about the Japanese release is the inclusion of SRAM so you can save your lap/track times and also keep mirror mode unlocked when you beat all the stages. Sega was insane removing this feature from the USA version, after having folks pay a $150 premium for the half-assed 32X addon and the high game prices on top of that.

As far as criminally underrated games go, I would have to suggest the Way of the Samurai games on the PS2 / PS3. They are sandbox samurai games with a "choose your own adventure" twist with mild rogue like elements. I will admit when you first start playing you will likely feel lost as you are just kind of thrown in, and the controls are a little clunky, but after getting accustomed to it there is a lot of enjoyment to be had. Each run is relatively short, and even if you die and lose your stuff you are still gaining points to unlock cosmetics and game modes which keeps the momentum going. Highly recommend.

I like to bring up Biker Mice From Mars on Snes when appropriate. It has a Rocking Soundtrack, and it shows the people who made it really cared to make it a great racing game. Also Vinny in that game with spinning around corners and using powerups can really go fast.

Wurm really reminds me of Golgo 13 on the NES. Like Wurm, it had a lot of different play styles such as first person shooting, side scrolling shmup levels, and even dungeon crawling.

It’s nice to see Dragon Valor on here. I definitely enjoyed that game. I can’t recall if this game has ever been mentioned in a video, but Battle Hunter for the original PlayStation was a lot of fun.

Great video as always. I used to love Hook and Sky Blazer for SNES. they are not great games by any means, but I rented them many times over childhood weekends when I had nothing else better to do. right before you said it and like 30 years later, I realized that Sky Blazer is using the same engine as Hook with a lot of the same graphic assets, just look at Blazer's jumping animation, just tweaked a little bit. Should have known you already had picked up on this a while ago. Again, thanks for all you do.

You should play Ardy Lightfoot on the SNES for this episode format. Definitely a criminally overlooked game.

My two most underrated games are Mystical Ninja 64 and MK: Shaolin Monks. Two of my favorite games ever that deserve a ton more recognition.

Thanks for another great "Game Sack" episode!!! \m/ A couple SNES games which I think should get more attention are: "X-Kaliber 2097" and "Robocop vs. the Terminator."

@@TheyCallMeBruce13 Thanks, man! I've always enjoyed it. It's pretty difficult, too. The two-player street fighting mode with the main character and almost all the bosses is a nice addition, as well.

It's hard for me to imagine games flying under your radar with all the really good games you've shown me through the years that I never even knew existed. I even made a mameui playlist called GameSack that has all the games in your Left in the Arcade series

Wife and I got Wurm as part of her late grandfather's collection years ago. Didn't think much of it at the time but might need to try re-exploring it.

So happy to see Dragon Valor make it on... I feel that I made that rec a while back, since I'm one of the only people I know that talks about that game. A great selection of games on here!

Cyborg Hunter was really fun, back then it took me a while to figure out the inventory because I'd only rent it. Once I did I was hooked from start to finish, though I never destroyed the I D cards. Didn't even know that was possible
