Laurent was a good choice, cause people need to be reminded that ALL THE SHIT YOU SEE LARRY DO, LAURENT CAN DO IT TOO, and MORE!!! He's dangerous but he lets LARRY shine in his lane and Laurent stays in his Lane to show diversity. When Laurent starts to get TECHNICAL like Larry, Laurent almost looks INHUMAN!

Laurent literally scares me. There are moments where he will completely zone in on the entire sphere of the music, and nobody can touch him. From the different instruments, to the vocals to how they conform in tandem. Waydi to me had the ability to tap into that “zone” more often then Laurent, but not as well as Laurent. He felt like the most complete dancer of criminalz. Larry is the king of beat kills, probably always will be, but he’s never felt as well rounded as both mentioned previously. You wanna win 1 round I’m picking Laurent hands down. You wanna win an entire battle im going waydi. Currently in 2021 is rubix in my mind is vying for that spot. An of course ggwab :D. On a side note the criminalz vs cergy battle dropped today. It might be worth checking out.

The best dancer in criminalz is Laurent. It’s always been him. He’s the most gifted. Larry is the most technical. He has moments when he’s on the zoNe and where it doesn’t find himself. Waydi is a monster

I would definitely agree with your hot-take. I think most people would agree. Of course this video is older and they all have grown but Waydi was always the special one in that crew. When I watched it when it first came out, I was sooooo fascinated by the beatkilling and only lookedfor that. Now.... I need to see more. Bouboo always amazes me with his ground work and how strong his knees are. My second favorite in that crew but sometimes he gets caught up in doing the same ol. Laurent is just different. Unique style and stays consistent in that. Larry is great and is just as versatile as his brother but sometimes he gets caught up in the beatkill and likes to show off him hearing various aspects of the music instead of dancing to the music in its entirety. Regi is on and off for me. I'm starting to warm up to Laura's dancing. Haven't seen much of Deyvron but from what i have seen is he's cool. Baddmachine (not sure what he goes by now) is diving more into Hip-hop but keeping a little bit of Krump "flavor" in his dance. Look forward to that. Don't know much about Perf. Reina is great. Love her groove. Slim is.... Slim muthaf'n Boogie, no need to say more. Now Rubix is the next in line for Criminalz Crew. So much potential and a risk taker with his style. A wild card but amazing. That's my current take on Criminalz Crew.

Honestly, I don't think that's an unpopular opinion. Perhaps it is but I can see why most people who are familiar with Criminalz Crew would definitely say Waydi was the best in that crew. You said Waydi and possibly the only other contender is Laurent. Personally, I think Bouboo is easily the best. And Waydi easily takes second. If we take into account Waydi in 2018 at Summer Dance Forever (I choose this because this was the most recent Waydi where we saw multiple whole battles of him IN his bag) And if we take into account what his strengths are, I would say: Musicality (As in..the embodiment of the textures of the sound. Not necessarily just the embodiment of when the sounds happen.) Timing ( Waydi always plays with different timing in his dance) Concepts (It seems like Waydi just has a big ol Santa claus sized bag full of concepts and he can just keep pullin em out. All the time. Never comes off corny either) Presence (Waydi to me is ALMOST...like a showman. He knows how to make his dancing very watchable and connect with the audience through this. I think this quality is what makes people love Waydi so much even without them realizing it in my opinion.) I think that's a fair assessment of Waydi's strengths. Now for Bouboo: Bouboo has an INCREDIBLY versatile bag. Many different styles. (Perfect example of this is that 7 to smoke. I think if you rewatch that it'll refresh your memory some) Bouboo has such seamless transitions. (I think if you asked people about Bouboo..No one would say this. However, this is CRUCIAL. Bouboo manages to connect moves that you would have never expected to be connected. A great example of this is when he battled Alex. I forgot which year but Alex was wearing a grey long sleeve shirt. Bouboo's first round...he did this move where he stepped forward and swung his leg behind the other and did a pistol squat kinda thing. It was incredibly unorthodox but he did not miss a beat despite this. And he always manages to do this in his rounds.) Bouboo never loses the pocket. (I put this as a strength because Bouboo DOES NOT fall out of the pocket. To be able to do all the top tier challenging stuff that Bouboo does and STILL manage to NEVER fall off beat while seamlessly transitioning between your moves? That's unbelievable imo.) Bouboo has groooove. Flavor. (Bouboo always has that bounce or that rock. But he has flavor with it. You have used Dykens as an example before of someone who's groove gets repetitive. Bouboo's groove is ALWAYS there but I dont think it has ever been seen as repetitive. It has flavor but he also stays in that pocket through his intricate stuff.) Bouboo knows how to seal the deal. Meaning, he knows how to put that period at the end of a sentence. He knows how to end a round. (7 to smoke battle but ALSO another random battle of his I saw a long time ago but have no idea what its called) I gotta throw in concepts. (When Bouboo ran though all them in that 7 to smoke he would NOT stop pulling out concept after concept. Concepts for days.) Lastly, his floorwork. (No explanation needed...ACTUALLY...Think about this. Bouboo has all these other things on LOCK that I mentioned up there.^^ Right? And then to have TOP TIER floor work on top of all that? Goodness gracious. That's ridiculous) So I think if we took Bouboo's skillset against Waydi's...Bouboo would have more consistently good rounds. So when I'm talking about dance...I'm not necessarily thinking "Who could beat who?" (I'm not saying you are either) But I'm thinking who can OUT DANCE the other. But not just once. I mean...who can OUT DANCE the other out of 10 times. Bouboo's skillset keeps him on beat no matter what even while doing incredibly intricate and challenging moves. And Bouboo's skillset has more groove and flavor in that groove. So for this reason I think Bouboo puts out more CONSISTENTLY good rounds. With the right environment...right song...one round...could Waydi smoke Bouboo? Yes. Its possible that could happen. However, out of 10 times. Who is going to put out more consistently good rounds? I say Bouboo. Easily. For example, Waydi and Rochka battled these two girls..I wish I could remember the name of them but Rochka went CRAZY that battle and it looked like they were outside. You'll know it when you see it. Waydi's rounds weren't all that great there. Even though he knew the song. Waydi's rounds are either cool or AMAZING. Bouboo's rounds are either dope or fire. A really dope round of Bouboo was when he was in a 2v2 and battled two poppers. And he danced to 'I neva go hard - Maru Nara' You'll have to search it up. That round was fire. I think Bouboo's skillset let's him put out more consistently good rounds that capitalize on the FOUNDATIONS of street dance. Groove. Being in the pocket. Transitions. Timing. Flavor. Things like that. I think Waydi's skillset capitalizes more on concepts and some MEAN musicality. Btw, When I'm speaking of these two dancers...I'm talking about these two dancers from like the last 10 years. I'm speaking on what they do most CONSISTENTLY. That's my reasoning for choosing Bouboo as number one best in Criminalz. And Waydi for second best. Laurent is dope. I've battled him before actually. But, I dont see him on the same freestyle level as Waydi or Bouboo. Laurent got washed by Paradox and would get washed by Paradox again. I think if Paradox went against Bouboo or Waydi that would be a dope and interesting exchange. I could not see Paradox washing either of them. So that's my reasoning. Depending on what things you value most in dance I can definitely understand why one would choose Waydi as the best. But I value the simplicity of the way Bouboo approaches dance. Groove. Flavor. On beat. Concepts, intricate challenging moves for days, and dope transitions. Some prefer Waydi's skillset and that's cool too. (P.S. I use the 7 to smoke example a lot because that's one of the few times you actually get to see and realize like...Wait a minute...Bouboo can go 7 rounds in a row...not get even a tad bit winded...do COMPLETELY new moves each round. Never get repetitive or boring. Stay in the music no matter how different the tracks get, and continue to be creative and put humor at the end of each and every round? And make ALL THAT look easy?! Yo. It's like you finally got to see how good he actually is.) That's just my take. I actually have watched more Waydi than Bouboo lately. But, they're both greats of street dance regardless.

Great analysis man!! Shit I thought my quick breakdown of Criminalz Crew was long lol. Yeah my overall favorite is Bouboo as well. You mentioned that 7 to Smoke event. I believe that put the world on notice on how great he is. His transitions, groove/bounce and quiet but strong presence stand out to me. Waydi has always fascinated me and even in retirement better than a lot of the Criminalz today. But if I were to say who's the most complete dancer, it's definitely Bouboo.

Lmao. But I fully agree. He is definitely the most complete and consistent dancer in CC. I would enjoy seeing Bouboo vs Paradox even though I know Bouboo would WORK Paradox. This is a unpopular opinion buuuut...When it comes to straight Freestyle dance I honestly think Bouboo is the best in the world. And he's not even my favorite. I'm coming from an objective analysis mindset when I say that.

Man that Laurent round and then the reply to it.... Night and day between what I like about hip-hop and what I dislike. You have Laurent doing some moves and rhythms (like repeating that movement to and from the floor) that I've never seen him do in another battle, so completely just for this and it made this round unique. Then the dude for china just ripped their moves and did that "hey look, what you do is so easy" thing. But it backfires so much harder when laurent didn't even do a death drop during the round just before it. It's just so tacky by this point when the game has evolved from on the street battles, to global stages, and I've got to admit that Les twins do their fair share of pettiness in old and newer battles. Usually it only gets in the way of a dancer focusing on their round and really getting their head in the game, and I'm not here for it. I know it's some people's jam, but not me. For some reason it felt like I was watching the chinese team do pantomime compared to Laurent's round. They hit the most basic beat over and over, threw out some cheesy choreography, and then were out of sync even for that. And it's so obvious that they're out of sync because they tried so hard to be in step with each other. When you get Criminalz in this comp doing choreo, they have segments where they each do something unique. When you see them a little out of step, it doesn't feel so bad because they're all throwing their own flavour on the choreo. That China round was actually hard to watch. It's been forever since I've seen this video and it's been great having your voiceover while I rewatched les twins classics because it really puts them in perspective. Like you're right, that larry round without the shock and glamour it had back in the day is a very average round where he does the exact same setup and drop. Les twins were sadly very predictable in earlier years, despite having a very unique set of moves for a long time. The scene caught up though.

Buh Laurent to me can be free as hell or sometimes repetitive. That freeness is why he’s my fav dancer & waydi is just that man wish we can see him throw down even today.

Bro you’re talking facts. I got Laurent on top as the best in the crew but, that’s just a matter of preference. Also because of recent performances/battles. People may get stuck on the comparison you made but, that just means they’re hearing you, not listening to you. The jewel in your statement is that Waydi was the best, all around, Hip-Hop dancer on criminalz: flow, groove, beat kills, convo… etc. It’s like a BOXER vs an MMA fighter. The MMA fight has many weapons and the boxer has 1, his fist. Now on paper it’s looks unfair, but the boxer 9 times out of 10 will have a harder punch than the mma fighter because he works to master one thing, the punch. While the mma fighter can hit you with a punch or a kick or… you get what I’m saying? Waydi worked to master Hip-Hop where as Les Twins work to be a jack of all trades (hip-hop, top rock, locking, popping, house etc.). Both avenues are effective just depends on the ring they’re in. I feel like we’re going to see the same with Slim. Slim works to master only popping. So he’s so amazing at everything popping encompasses that pound for pound he can keep up or even “out punch” the twins at times. At times!!!

As far as who was the best in criminalz I def would say waydi for me based off everything you said. Right around 2015 fusion concept was when it solidified to me that he was the top dawg in the crew. It was a very unpopular opinion around that time cause the twins fame was on the rise and they were all over the place, but like you said if you know you know. That's not to diminish other people opinions if they truly felt that one of the twins were the best, but it seemed like alot of people during that time was coming off uneducated and pretty ignorant towards waydi. They would always say his moves were too "simple" lmao. I used to say aight, try freestyling and coming up with those concepts on the spot with no resets while maintaining flow and control. That shit ain't easy.
