If the QC is the same as the new dawn "pro", then it's not worth $0.01 if it's not working. I will be avoiding any crappy products, and if moondrop makes them, I will be avoiding the company altogether. And I've had the sparks, aria 1 and dawn "pro" and they all failed me after some time passed (sparks was not properly glued, aria chipped away like crazy and the "pro" being the worst of the bunch as it was not even fully working when I got it). The "pro" rattles insides, the buttons are really cheap and rattle as well and the usb c cable constantly disconnects. I wonder if any QC was even done... Some might argue it's only $50 ... well, the tempotec sonata pro DID NOT fail me as these products and it's still working, at a lower price than the "pro" ever was. Hell, even the paint is still there and that is saying something about "the drop" QC.

Chu 2 issues that crin didn't point out: - The same poor paint job as Chu 1, which is prone to chipping off after some time. - The brass nozzle will oxidize and turn greenish, potentially staining your eartip's internal tube. - There are reports of condensation issues blocking the nozzle's mesh and causing imbalance, definitely not an IEM for people who experience this kind of issue or gym/hiking. Yeah, it's cheap and all but I personally don't like to deal with that. I'd rather buy a burger idk.

Got a pair of these before the New Year. Sound is overall pretty solid, although the upper midrange is on the forward side of things. Makes the soundstage a little smaller than I'd personally like, and winds up making my brain focus on that instead of the bass. Even though the Chu 2's bass graphs as being stronger than the Hola, I feel more bass presence on the Hola because of how much more relaxed the upper mids are on that. But aside from that, considering the $19 price tag, the package is very impressive. Metal build for the IEMs, good cable, decent eartips, and a nice carry pouch. I think it's an absolute steal.

I bought the original pair of Moondrop Chu, but due to it's metal body it trapped humidity. So after wearing it for a few hours, sometimes half an hour, they would get more and more muffled until they stop working. The solution was to let them rest and "dry" every single day. Since I sleep with earphones, they had no rest and on that note they were uncomfortable to sleep with - due to the metal body. So I assume the same issue will happen with Moondrop Chu 2. Buy with caution.

After like 5 minutes it works again! Now I always do this if I accidentally got it wet from rain or shower water (yes,.. I use them while showering noew). So yeah, this might also work with your wired earphone too if the water/humidity is the problem. Just don't put the hairdryer on it for too long.

I have been using this iems for a couple months and there is something to say: 1. There is a lil bit or lost on the volume when condensation covers the iem with the spring tips. 2. The cable obviusly turns in a yellow color with time. 3. The most annoying one, a lot people have sulfate issues in the nozzles, there is no replacement of this part, even if u can unscrew the nozzle. I don't know if that can be harmful, but the green color around the spring tips and the 'new' chrome color that the nozzle have because the sulfate ate all the golden film in the nozzle looks awful. The one thing I dislike about the Chu 2 is the brass nozzle. I really wish they made it out of steel or something else because the corrosion is real, I put mine away in the case with some Springtips on the ends and about 2 weeks later they were green and the springtips ruined. It turns out if you want to store them you should clean them down with rubbing alcohol first otherwise they can destroy things. The cable too got some minor damage. Aria 2 and Kato suffer the same fate with the brass nozzle. I honestly wish Moondrop would go back to stainless steel or continue with the Beautiful World and use Platinum. Such a nice metal even if the wear and tear is quick to set in, it's a metal you can work with alot easier. Prefer my BW over any other Moondrop IEM currently. Purely because of the material and design elements. Sound is basically the Kato but more refined. Cleaner.

I'd like my moondrop chu 1s better if they weren't fouled by a horrible hissing that is present no matter what source I use. I've plugged them into pretty much EVERYTHING (including a Gen 3 Ipod, an Ipod nano, 2 different Dacs, 3 different computer monitors, 2 tvs, the WORKS) and whenever they are plugged in, there is a hiss. While an impedance adapter helped, it didn't totally eliminate it, although it did highlight it as being more present on the left than on the right. Outside of that, they were relatively comfy, didn't make my ears hurt, and sounded okay, especially for the price point. Then again, I've generally had such terrible luck with IEMs that I went back to the 'clip-on' style cheap panasonic/Koss headphones for when I can't/don't want to use a normal set of headphones. They are just as portable and don't tend to have as much issues with source sensitivity or build issues, and I don't have to worry about them causing ear infections in my 'busy' ear canals.

just noticed the switches in the background, mechanical keyboards probably fit in well with your usual shenanigan's (I have owned the original chu's for almost 2 jears now, one of the sides stopped working, but moonrop sent a new pair out after some chit chat between me and the support)

Detachable cables are great for reducing wastes, since you don't have to throw away the whole IEMs if the cable is faulty, but having to pay a new lowest-end cable $10+ for a $20 IEM stings a bit.

Why is your Freqency Response curve here 7:35 so different from SoundGuys'? SoundGuys also measured Chu 2 with BK 5128, and their curve looks more similar to the older measurement done with 4128 from WoodenEars, while your curve looks significantly different, why is that?

Nevermind, it's a "compensated by target" curve, a de-compensation is needed to get the original curve.

I bought a few IEMS around the 20 euro mark. I was expecting miracles from this one based on all the reviews. However, possibly due to my absurdly large and deep ear canals, other typically less respected models sound more pleasant to me. Not that the Chu2 is bad. Collecting is fun, and maybe a friend or musician colleague finds a new favourite when they try these.

these are my first IEMs (18 bucks) paired with a Tripowin Zonie cable (20 bucks) and a 24bit/96kHz capable dongle i had laying around (10 bucks) using android and usb audio player pro (8 bucks) total starting price of 56 bucks...and wowzies...the sound stomps my 300+ bose qc35ii and all these ~200+ ANC wireless earbuds. even the passive NC i get from the smallest tips that came with the Chu 2s is freaking awesome compared to the fancy ANC of Bose and Sony...insane bang per buck. next order will be a F.Audio KS01 DAC/Amp (210mW, unbalanced 3.5mm, flagship chips and an OLED for 40 bucks) and some time in the future a planar IEM crinacle will rate top tier in the sub 300 price range. future is going to sound great thanks to crin ❤😂

I bought the Chu 2 in China for only like 13 €, that was an amazing price. And they sound pretty good, not as good as the Aria, but at a fraction of the price, pretty nice. I also just bought the not mentioned IEM, aka Salnotes Zero (2), they are also really great. Still have to do a direct comparison between them.

gotta agree on the wan'er, i picked up a pair a couple days ago alongside the two generations of zeros, and in a vacuum it's an outstanding pair, and the mic is a standout, but it's got that sorta veil over it like you mention on the chu2 in comparison. the original zero's probably my favored sound of the three, but the angularity of the casings on those are murdering my ears. probably going to put a set of the original chu's in the cart at some point. worst case it's a set of springtips.

Does the Chu 2 have the same issue as 1 with the weight? The biggest problem I have with Chu 1 is how it keeps slipping and falling out instead of having a tight grip in the ear canal due to its weight, and one of the wire near the bending point where the wire connects in has also been stretched over prolonged period thanks to the stress imposed by the weight and as you know, the cable is not detachable so it is unusable at this point. I am currently using the Truthear Hola and it is a lot lighter and more comfortable to wear compared to the Chu 1.

these IEM's are best value for the buck. Compared to Sennheiser IE 200 they are a blast. I will try to use them as IEM's for live gigs (I am a bassist) and with the spill coming out from FOH they should be great for live use.

As a previous Chu 1 customer, I'm chu-sing once again to purchase the Chu 1 over the Chu 2 for one reason majorly - free spring tips. They really are unbelievable until you've tried them. Normal eartips really don't compare and I always feel like I'm getting a compromised experience without them. It doesn't make sense to me to spend an extra $13.00 on spring tips when I can get them with the Chu 1. Also that the oem cable on the Chu 2 can't be optioned with a microphone was really annoying.
@somethingcool550211 ай бұрын
Just to put it out there i bought the chu 1 and sometimes one ear would make less sound(due to the inner filter doing something idk)so keep that in mind If you want to fix that problem it is known to suck on it so that the filter gets away from the driver but it mostly does not last much until u face the same problem I like the sound of these iems(when they work properly) since they are my first experience with good sound quality devices

The only issue I had with them is that the included ear tips are pretty much impossible to actually fit on the IEM. The part of the ear tips that fit around the IEM are way too narrow, which makes me think the wrong ear tips might have been included? I tried for 30+ minutes to get it on one of them (let alone both) and eventually gave up because I didn't want to go through this again if I ever had to clean them. Unless it was a mistake do they really expect people to fit those ear tips on these IEMs? Thankfully I had a pair of old ear tips from really old ear buds that fit the Chu 2 pretty well. The ear tips are old and not the best but at least I can use these IEMs now. The Chu 2s are pretty good, first pair of IEMs I've ever owned and they're great so far. They are still comfortable despite using mismatched ear tips.
@nathanlarson653511 ай бұрын
@@skrebzilla10th You may not believe me for some reason but I'm telling you, it's not just a tight fit or that they barely fit at all. It's not even remotely close. It's not a matter of strength, the ear tips are silicone and therefore soft. If you compress it, it will fold in one direction and that method does not work. If you stretch it, it makes the already too narrow "base" of the ear tip (the part that fits onto the IEM) even more narrow which also does not work. The outer diameter of the "base" of the eartip is identical to the diameter of the IEM, but the inner diameter is less than half the size, it is absolutely tiny compared to the IEM. There is no possible way to stretch it to fit. All three pairs of ear tips that were included were like this, which leads me to believe the wrong ear tips were included. Every other pair of earbud (wireless or otherwise) I've ever owned in my life came with ear tips that you could put on in just three seconds. Very easy. But not the Chu 2. Of course, you can buy standalone ear tips to use but I decided to use old ear tips I already had because it easily worked, I didn't have to wait, and it was free. It still sounds great so it really doesn't matter to me.

Moondrop has several QC issues they need to sort out. I've had 3 repeat cable failures on my Moondrop Chu II's. This is to the point that Amazon has stopped letting me request replacement cables under warranty & I have given up on using the IEM's. They're budget IEM's; I shouldn't have to buy a set of cable to use them. My 5 pairs of KZ IEM's have lasted years & they each came with 2 pairs of cables.
@yo342911 ай бұрын
By the measurements (if they hold up in my ears): It's a big, big win to have a smoothed out region from 5-10 kHz. A very critical region, that's really important and not seen often in any price range! No problem to get the slight hump around 180 Hz down with EQ. I guess I need to try this thingy, this could be the new star in the low price segment. If so, this review is on the understatement side.

The right driver died in both my chu and in my chu 2 after about 3 months of using them. At least in the chu 2 I can tell that it was the driver and not the cable or filter because I could check those on the 2, at least. Makes me hesitant to buy Moondrop stuff.
