Regarding the harman tuning and Crin, he explained in his video about this iem that it uses the dual DD configuration with real crossover. Basically, the idea is to let the 10mm DD taking care of 20-200hz like an actual subwoofer and the smaller DD taking care of the rest of the spectrum. Since people tend to like harman tuning, which has elevated bass, and they had a DD exclusively for Bass and another DD for mid-highs, which helps to achieve a flatter mid region, it seemed a great opportunity to aim for a $50 true harman tuning iem.
@wiesolos2 жыл бұрын
How does that configuration contribute to achieve a flatter mid region?
@zerorusher2 жыл бұрын
@@wiesolos Since the smaller driver is not reproducing sub 200hz, there's no low frequencies to "contaminate" the mids, this makes achieving a flatter mid much easier.

The low power Behringer interface required higher volume levels to get the same levels of warm bass on the low end. The instruments and noise don't separate as much and it's an overall flatter and compressed concoction of noises. The Amp definitely allows for finer details to shimmer and shine in the background and have their space to breath. I hate to say this but you're doing it wrong, haha. You have it micing your voice off axis. Why? That is an amazing broadcast vocal mic but it was designed to used on axis by the great engineers at EV. You're probably getting a huge bass rolloff doing it that way and it is your show so do it your way for sure. Just saw that and wondered why. Anyhow, nice job on the reviews and thank you again.

I always wonder with the cheaper IEMs and with new brands if the diaphragm materials (compounds) are sufficiently qualified in terms of longevity. Diaphragms or drivers are often made of elastomers (like the driver of this IEM). Elastomers age and so does the diaphragm material. I trust established manufacturers to an extend more (such as Sennheiser etc.) that the diaphragm materials are qualified for a life of 10-20 years. Thus "always" sounding the same during the lifetime/usage. It would be interesting times after 5-10 years to measure the IEMs presented here again.
@katalysis2 жыл бұрын
You speak as if the price of audiophile products are dominated by material cost. Here's a secret: they're not.
@jk94362 жыл бұрын
@@katalysis Thank you for your response. I am not concerned with the relationship between sales price, BOM (Bill of Material) costs, and audio quality. Rather, I wonder whether the products / drivers / elastomers are sufficiently qualified. E.g. by means of artificial aging. It would be a shame if IEMs/headphones, regardless of price range, no longer deliver the same (audio) quality as brand new after 2-3 years, wouldn't it? From my own experience with elastomers in technical products, there are serious differences in the quality and durability of supposedly identical elastomers.

You are definitely not the only one who hears most IEMs are too brittle and forward sounding. Most every IEM I have tried (that is close to in ear Harman) sounds to me like there is a huge elevation from 3-5 kHz, like 7-10 dB more than it should be. Doing sine sweeps and compared to my HD650, Focal Clear MG, and HE-500, those over ear headphones have a normal response in the 3-5kHz region, whereas when I switch back all my IEMs, every single one of them is super elevated and shouty in that region. Only 3 IEMs sound somewhat correctly tuned to me, the Hifiman RE-400, Final Audio E5000, and the Senn IE800S. These all happen to have a dip in the 3-5kHz region, so no wonder. I always use EQ even with portable so it's not a major concern for me, but it kind of sucks that EQ is necessary or else most every IEM sounds wrong to my ears. But I'm glad someone else out there agrees Harman IEM target is much too forward sounding, it could be that our ear pinna and canal shapes are very similar.
