When I first heard the term "Art lore" , I was excited, thinking it was going to be about random art facts and history. Like how back in the Dark ages or Medieval times, there was an "art meme" of Knights riding horse sized SNAILS! And no one knows why this was a meme back in the day. But no... It's bullying/nitpicking.

Cringe culture really ruins everything. Art, fandoms, cosplaying, even just normal actions that people do in their day to day life! It is stupid, and on every young childs youtube shorts I see at least 1 or 2 hate comments, if not more if they are popular, and it is so sad to see. Especially on children making art on their channels. It is so sad to see people quitting art or other things just because pf stupid people hating on them.

Cringe culture being invented specifically to bully autistic people online all that time ago should already tell you what you need to know about the genre. It's made to make people feel bad for being themselves, liking something, doing something, making something, that isn't considered "normal". And it's only gotten worse, with kids now being too scared to be kids because it's cringe to have fun. I honestly and genuinely think the world would be a better place if cringe culture didn't exist, or was limited to people just intentionally making asses of themselves in public, like prank videos or "nice guys" entitlement to girls. Stuff like that is cringe to me, not cosplays and singing a fansong with other fans. Sidenote, I'm so pissed that I was called a cringe weeb when I was in middle school, and now everyone likes anime. Or when being "alt" was trendy in 2020 and all of a sudden my fashion aesthetics and music were cool. Like "Oh the clue board, you mean my clueboard. That I made? We like the clueboard now?" (Edit: I got into the video where you said you have a tmnt collection, and same. I have so many tmnt plushes on my bed. Blankets and pillows and toys oh my! I got posters, pizza boxes, framed photos. I didn't get a job to save up for college! I got one to get tmnt merch

Not that I don’t believe you, but could you provide some source for the “it was created to bully autistic people”. I’m autistic too and am just wondering where you found this
@screwed_up_screwball
@screwed_up_screwball 7 ай бұрын
@@dachemistofx1667 I came to this conclusion myself after years of observing how people interact and watching cringe compilations in my spare time to try and understand what fundamentally makes someone or something cringe (if it isn't already painfully apparent, I'm autistic as well) given the sheer fact that the baseline criteria for labelling someone as cringe also fits the criteria of someone neurodivergent. These include things such as, 1. Obsessing over characters and media to the point of hording and/or personality changes 2. Abnormal speech patterns and non-verbal cues 3. Verbal tics and stims And a very likely more that I can't think of currently. Most, if not all, activities deemed cringe by the general public are things that are most commonly participated in by the autistic community. Maybe it wasn't created with the inherit idea of being ableist and bullying autistic people, but it was popularized with the intent of shaming people who do these things, whether intentionally or not. And, personally, I don't think there's any way for the intentions to have been good in this case. If you want to know more, here's a study from March 2024 about cringe culture and ableism. I highly recommend it, www.researchgate.net/publication/378848865_Cringe_Culture_and_its_Relationship_with_Ableism_A_study

A cute video of someone doing digital art? " Ai generated " A beginner artist? " Is this the original " Any kind of unusual hobby? Just a bunch of unnecesarry bullying. Tik tok is a place that was made for content, slowly it turned into content farming crap with people bullying and harassing each other all the time with no actual reason. I remember when I was 8, recently joined the furry community because it looked really fun and I enjoyed just cosplaying cute cartoony animals that gave me comfort. I was getting sent endless death threats for just having fun. I cried a lot that day. I don't really care about hate now but it definitely is a big problem in our society. I hate how I see adult ass people saying “bring back bullying” cause it puts cringy kids in their place…sir what??? And you gotta realize that a lot of people who were bullied BECOME “cringe” because a majority of the time it’s a coping mechanism, a lot of the time they create a little bubble where they draw, read, etc things that they like and a majority of the time these interests are niche because a lot of niche fandoms/communities are really supportive and safe (I know I feel that way with the fandoms I’m in since I stay on the safe side) but having niche interests are considered cringe too and that’s where these people start to attack and say stupid ass crap like this

(Long text warning :D) I'm a person who's very affected by what people think, I'm not sure why, but because of this, the "cringe culture" on the internet has negatively affected me for several years since I always try to fit in and don't do what others consider cringe. I find it painful that this is also happening to children, as I feel that people are obsessed with bullying and hating someone for no reason to the point of trying to justify themselves with "that's how the internet is" or falsely accusing the victim to make them look "problematic" and it has happened several times, not only with croaket, I speak Spanish and here in the Hispanic community something similar is happening with an artist who made an infection AU of my little pony, which it's disgusting to me. It's as if they wanted to act moralistic, justifying their harassment with the fact that "the other person may be problematic." I wish people would just let others do what they like and what makes them happy as long as it doesn't hurt anyone :(

It's a painful case, really, I loved mlw 😢

as a preteen, the fact that people say gen alpha is cringe and that they have no life and just act like idiots all day is NOT TRUE..the internet ruined me and many others, but it made me realize this world isnt all rainbows and unicorns. yes, i look like i just threw on a tshirt and some sweatpants, slapped on a ponytail and called it a day, and i sometimes wonder “why is everyone wearing crop tops and jeans?” but you made me figure out they just want to feel grown up and make a good impression on themselves. everyone says that we’re the role models and thst every younger kid depends on us to see how to act, but think about it. who was OUR role model? 3rd grade had so many kids just being themselves(for me) and everyone was happy and always did what they wanted but now we’re all under the pressure of just wanting to fit in. its really sad just realizing how cruel this world really is.

This video was great so you've earned another subscriber! I really like the art is your speedpaint! + the whole "I don't need an artstyle" is so real. I just have a few things to add to the discussion. 1. I feel like a lot of cringe culture is rooted in ableism and even sexism/misogyny. For context I'm diagnosed with ADHD and I'm planning on getting 'tested' for ASD (autism). I grew up masking a lot of my neurodivergent traits which made me also really good at identifying what is cringe so I could hide it. I loved minecraft roleplays but would never admit it. I loved anime but would never rant about it. It doesn't come naturally for (many) neurodivergent people to socially perform and a lot of them get overly enthusistic about something (special interests and hyperfixations). I also avoided girly stuff because being girlish or liking girly stuff is also seen as cringe. A lot of "girly" interests are seen as cringe because it's "for girls" which will be made fun of (this created a lot of "not like other girls"). I myself started using a defense mechanism where I would say that I "ironically" like stuff because that would make me look like I laughed at the cringe instead of liking it. 2. Constructive criticism is not "oh that's cringe" or "that's bad" but even if you gave constructive criticism, I am tired of people thinking they can give unwanted advice on an artpiece when it isn't asked for. You can ask if you're allowed to critique it, sure! It just feels like the more we critique art without being asked for it or given permission, the more we are putting pressure on artists to become good at art. I think we should normalise artists just having fun drawing. I sometimes send art to my friends personally and get unwanted critique for what reason? (Note: I still think criticism is important for improvement.) AHHH this is such a long comment. I apologise to anyone reading this but I also appreciate it. I might have made some mistakes in spelling (english isn't my first language). If anyone has something to add to this or a personal experience, I love to read what people have to say.

I've seen someone make gacha cringe compilations of problematic gacha videos, like ones that fetishize gay, lesbian, bi, pan, poly and trans people and mainly fetishize the LGBTQ+ community in general, that's the only time that cringe compilations are justified, calling out problematic behavior and not harassing anyone specifically, their titles seemed homophobic at first because it said something like "gacha cringe compilation gay edtion" but they were actually adding their own commentary onto the video and showing the fetish stuff that the original person put in there

There's so many ways that cringe culture has stunted my growth as an artist, I don't really create oc's with any sort of story because I was so afraid as a child to make a "mary sue/ gary stu". I didn't experiment in a lot of things cause I didn't like the idea of being bad no matter what is was about. So now I'm 7 years into my art 'career' and I still don't know how to make a story for my OC's and never did animation memes cause the idea of being cringe and bad was enough to stop me (rip animation memes, I wish I knew how to animate). So advice for all artists but especially young ones; don't be afraid to be cringe. Have your oc's be dark and 'weird', edgy and 'terribly designed', go through the growing pains that many artists before you have done. Because the few oc's I did create have been with me through a LOT and I look at them fondly, as if they are old friends. So don't be afraid to create, even if miserable people try to make you feel 'cringe'. I may be cringe, but I am free!

People online just have such a foul entitlement towards an artist’s creations. If it doesn’t appease their eyes, then watch out! Cause here comes the same old copy and paste quips under your video! Ironic how they attack original art when they can’t get original themselves. Also one thing that should be said, is that a fundamental part of constructive criticism is respect. You can’t give criticism if you give no respect. And let’s be honest here, who’s actually going places: the person who leaves thoughtless hate comments on things that don’t specifically cater to their fancy; or the person who expresses their creativity and interests through their own artistic capacities? Also, your art looks so delightful here!! Watching you draw is genuinely satisfying :)

honestly as someone nearing 18, it's so depressing to see this kind of shit, like..when I was 11 I was busy making really "cringe" gacha videos using, the literal presets as characters while barely changing the poses or faces to fit the scene and making the stereotypical gacha story. Nobody really said anything to me about it, but if someone did I highly doubt I would've cared too much (or I would've moved past it quickly). Even when I was regularly bullied by at least one person for being weird, I didn't care because I was having fun; and it wasn't like my parents were punishing me so how could I be wrong for doing it? I look back at stuff I did and cringe, but I don't *regret it,* because I had fun and built positive childhood memories. But now? There's so much peer pressure and so many more bad examples for kids and tweens that it's *practically impossible* to feel proud and happy with being "cringe" in the eyes of other people. I can only hope that society fixes itself before it's too late, and feel grateful that I grew up with little to no self hatred or insecurity.

Honestly as a full grown adult on the internet myself with a bunch of my own "cringe" interests, I feel my own generation of internet users should know better than to bully young creators online who like things that gear towards their respective demographic! We need to stop treating kids on the internet as something they're not and let them have a childhood/teenhood for crying out loud! You'll only be young for so long in each life you're given so why speed up the process of aging? To all the young ones out there who are reading this: Never give up on your passion because some stranger on the internet called it cringe or put it in an art lore compilation! Keep growing at your own pace and don't let yourself down if you're not able to do something yet due to your age! I'm almost in my mid 20's and I still struggle with my own skills I would have gained if I lived a "normal" life! So you're not alone in this world! Keep pushing to be better for yourself and yourself alone! You don't have to please everyone you know! Enjoy life as one shall!

I was kinda just having fun w it and laughing abt myself in a non mean way. I normally don’t comment on videos, but this one hit close to home for me (this is gonna be a long one 😅) When I was a kid I had free internet access, (like most of Gen Z) and would frequently watch cringe comps. Specifically Undertale cringe comps, because I was, and still am, really into the game. I would watch these compilations and internalize them, thinking the normal kid and fandom things I was interested in was “cringe”. I often would hide all the things I liked from EVERYONE! Even my mom. For example, I was really into the 2012 TMNT show, but I’d never watch it because I was scared of getting made fun of because it was “cringe”. This went for any fandom I was interested in, MLP, Creepypasta, ect. I’ve thankfully broken out of this cycle of thinking for the most part, even opening up to my friends and family about the things I like (my friends is actually encouraging me to write a story I came with!) but I still have my moments, but hey, who doesn’t? And for anyone who’s gone through being teased for the things they like or take interest in, I think your cool! Continue following your passions, because one day you might inspire someone little kid with big dreams.❤

i happen to be in a bunch of fandoms/communities that are considered cringe, like the fnaf fandom, the furry fandom, AND the therian community, as well as other fandoms (mostly relating to animation, like anime, kids cartoons, and things like that) and the amount of hate these communities get just for having fun and posting silly little things is insane !! i posted a silly video on my pinterest a bit ago and someone commented "i hope you die tomorrow 🤭🤭" and i was just so flabbergasted lol (i of course didnt feel any sort of malice/anxiety from the comment, i just simply told them that what they said wasnt nice and that i hoped they were having a good day) I'm a fim believer that we should fight fire with water, instead of fire with fire. instead of fighting with haters we should just simply wish them well, instead of being hateful back anyways thank you for making a video about "cringe culture" Bre and im sorry for this essay of a comment :3c

(Very long comment sorry!) Man, I'm glad to see others with the same opinions as me! I remember being extremely young, and seeing all of those animation cringe comps and not fully understanding why people liked them, but wanting to fit in I sort of just followed the mob. I regret those choices a lot, especially because I was just, really mean to people for no reason. (What makes it funnier is that I probably would have been one of those people that would be bullied) I'm glad that there are still tons of decent people (and decent sites) that'll support various artists no matter their level. And I'm thankful that I didn't stay long on Tik Tok (art people there are BRUTAL) I feel like we should just let live, so what if you don't like that art style? The artist does and so do the people who follow them. So what if that person is in a fandom that's old and not that active anymore? As long as they're having fun and making new friends I don't see an issue. I could go on but I feel like I don't have much anymore to add. But basically, cringe culture is bad and we should let people live and express themselves how they wish.

Here are my opinions about people participating in cringe culture. The majority of these, in my opinion, are brought on by severely unhappy teenagers who have never considered expressing themselves or interacting with other individuals who share their desire to mature rapidly, which leads to them being depressed or is already depressed and not that expressive as they are slowly growing up. As a result, they disparage those who are expressive, and they primarily target 12- or 11-year-old kids or teenagers who are viewed as "weird" simply for being who they are. They probably believe that those individuals are content and enjoying themselves, so they denigrate them by labelling them as "cringe." OR OR maybe they just wnat to make fun of "weird" kids to get attention from people their age.
