I got a pro tip for anyone thrifting clothing. Say you find a piece you like and think it might fit. But where I live, thrift stores don’t have fitting rooms. So I’ll look at the label and see who the brand is, then find their website on my phone to find a size chart. That usually gives me a better idea for fitting, along with knowing my body shape and what kind of cuts work well.

I'm a little over 2 years hrt, and trying to get more into fashion as I'm gaining confidence in my body. I actually enjoyed going shopping for my clothes now instead of dreading it. It's still a little tough bc not only am I seriously shopping for women's clothing for the first time in my life, but also trying to overcome the hurdle of being 30, so I often feel like a lot of clothes are either made for girls in their early 20s or women in the late 40s and my god is it tough to pick out an outfit that doesn't make me look like someone's elderly aunt while staying away from things that makee look like I'm trying to relive missed high school girl days 😵💫

I agree with a lot of the tips and the changes in the vid. Starting off there was a lot more of my focus on trying to ensure it was a femme style or to hide parts that were dysphoric with layers or different femme clothing styles. After 4 years of transition it just doesn't matter, I wear what I like and don't think about the perception because I just am female.

I do hip and butt exercises semi-regularly but I'm not on HRT yet, and I live by the baggy bottom rule. I don't like jeans as much, but baggy sweatpants also do the job very well. Also, tops that aren't that tight but that are in a specific shape that curves at the waist and opens back up towards the hips. It's all about creating the illusion. I also live by the "new waist" rule, I hate wearing any bottom that doesn't go up to or above my belly button.

@Taigan_HSE7 ай бұрын
Layering is tricky for me because (1) I’m pretty overweight and (2) I tend to run hot. So unless I’m outdoors and it’s below 60°, more than one layer usually means I’m going to sweat. 😓
@carimeslockdownedtree26547 ай бұрын
Very valid! There's no need to layer if it makes you uncomfortable. I don't layer too much myself. However, if you _do_ want to do it, have you considered really lightweight fabrics? Maybe a really thin and fresh shirt and another, also light, layer? It could be a thin cardigan, a light jacket, or oh! A beach wrap! It could be wrapped around your shoulders in fashionable ways while not being too stifling. There's many options you could try out if you ever wanted to! Or maybe one of those small and light scarves tied around your arm. And about the being outside thing, people, from what I've seen, don't tend to keep many layers on while inside, so you could dress up nicely while outside and then take off the extra layers indoors no problem. Hope that advice helps, if you decide to explore that route. But if not, that's fine as well! If you ever decide to try it out, I'd love to hear how it goes :) Either way, I hope you have a nice day!
@blaireshoe8738Ай бұрын
Along the same lines as the other comment, this is why I love sheer layers. Visual pretties with breathability! I really only layer them on top of actual solid clothing so it doesn't touch my skin (sensitive lol), but you can play with contrast or just add a subtle texture over all/part of any part of your outfit. There are sheer tops, shrugs, pirate sleeves, skirts (you can cut the criminally small "liners" out of some very long sheer skirts and put them over ANYTHING), lace, embroidered, plain, the possibilities are endless.

One of the most helpful bits of information I've received as a trans man about my height dysphoria is that an inch or two is not gonna make you not short, so obsessing over finding the shoes that will give you the most height boost is ultimately pointless. I feel so much more confident accepting that I'm a short guy instead of having the perspective that I must do everything I can to try to make myself appear as masculine as possible. And the best part is, that advice came from a cis guy's video with a presumed cis male audience. It's so freeing when you understand that even cis ppl have a lot of the same insecurities about their bodies that we do as trans ppl. Granted, I am in a privileged position as a passing trans guy, but if I could go back in time and tell baby trans me one thing, it would be to stop obsessing over the small things....I was getting misgendered either way, so I might as well have had more fun with it🤠

Normal stores kind of suck when you don't know size and have not come out yet.. I had to find my size 12 years ago way before I came out. Dressing private. Drove to a decent size city and go to thrift store in the early hours. No one there, and workers really don't care. Now Amazon let's you try before you buy, and also buy 3 sizes and just send back l what you don't want.

As a trans women who didn't start until 36, OMG YES, just today I was looked in the mirror at work and was like wow my boobs look great! 11 months on HRT this weekend! That said the shoulder dysphoria is not from appearance, it is from clothing. I will be in a dressing room trying to get a dress over my head and I can hear the seems start to rip as i am putting it on. I cannot physically wear anything with arms because of my broad shoulders and im only 5'6". 100% of the dysphoria is literally from clothes not fitting because dresses with arms are so cute!
