They chose to cut weight “for an advantage” to fight in a lower weight class. They rehydrate and ballon back up to normal weight right after they weigh in.

My God its barbaric how do they have anything left to fight with
@Patrick_Kozma5 жыл бұрын
They end up feeling sick the whole time they fight, if they did not need to cut weight, you would see a lot more skill in the UFC, but no, you end up seeing the drained out version of those professional fighters inside of the cage

The weigh-in is not the same day as the fight. They dehydrate themselves to temporarily lower their weight to make the cut. Immediately after they step off the scale they start rehydrating and regain most of their weight. They may not be at 100%, but having the extra mass/muscle is a huge advantage, and is why fighters are incentivized to carry more mass than they otherwise would. Cyborg could easily make weight if she reduced some of her muscle mass, but she/her team doesn't want to do that because it would reduce her giant strength advantage.

Performance enhancing drugs and this crazy dehydration are on par in my eyes. Both are a way of trying to change yourself in a way to gain an advantage on fight day. They need to stamp out them both as soon as physically possible.

I had cancer in my appendix. Of all the places right? It still took them four years to find it. I lost 105 pounds in 6 weeks. I know exactly what massive weight loss feels like. I got so lucky to be alive. But I shit my guts out and sweated gallons of yellow sweat for months. The doctors laughed at me. They actually thought it was all so interesting. I’m still disabled and I can’t get medical treatment any longer. I guess my times coming to close. Sorry about everything.

This doesn’t really apply to cyborg but for other fighters there should be a re-evaluation of what weight they should be allowed to fight in.
