that's sounds intriguing. Did you go with 7 inch 6S, like seems to work amazingly for FRFPV? I have had trouble with 7 inchers in the past so I restasked my 5 inch Marmotte with floaty props and Brain Gps and Molicel 4S .. and it is pretty good up to 18 minutes now (no gopro, just Vista).

@@planesandbikes7353 Yes 7" Super G plus, BH 2608.5 1300kv, I used UAV tech recommended tune video for 6"/7" and larger quads ( just the initial settings in beginning of video)(still planning to finish when I go on days off). It's flying very well with the exception of a wobble on descent for landing on the roll axis which finishing the tune video i suspect will fix. I'm fairly new to the drone hobby so rely on great content like Falconrad for direction. I'll get to do extensive testing this weekend and will post an update on results if you're interested. I have a 6" Badger running on 6S and would love to get it dialed in for some mid range missions, I don't think i'll get the kind of flight times you're getting on 4S - 18 minutes is outstanding! Can't wait to get mine finished. I used a GepRC (copy) Mark4 7" frame (I have a 5" and love the smoothness) with your recommended Eco II 2807/1500kv motors. I had an F4 Mamba FC controller in stock and mated it with a Jhemcu 45A ESC. ELRS, Foxeer, AKK Ultimate, and have some Samsung Li-on 3000mah cells to experiment with. Ordered those before I saw your vid re: Molicell. These will serve to tweak the build and see how the motors perform etc. Great info man. Thx! I think I'll upgrade the VTX to something a little more substantial as I've gone through a couple of AKK VTX's. About 3 years ago I pulled my Bugs3 off the shelf (literally my first drone after a tinytoy), and stuck a cheap F4 FC in it with a distribution board, camera, GPS, and was thinking that 20 mins of flight on a 2S battery would make a great LR quad. I didn't take the jello into account so it sat on the shelf lol.

You know, cruising over mountain ridges brings an interesting challenge. The sense of proportions goes haywire up there; it's tough to gauge the distance from those rugged peaks. Check out 7:44 - that's a clear example of how I misjudged it. The drone's shadow reveals you're actually quite a distance from the rock. Before I spotted it, I thought you're was practically brushing it at just 15 centimeters away. The rocks seemed way smaller than they actually are. So, any tips on accurately sizing up rocks when the shadow isn't playing ball?
@FalconRadFPV Жыл бұрын
That's something that I'm always challenged by. Your right, it's hard to tell exactly what the scale of the surroundings is. In a way it's easier to do the flights where I'm in close with trees and bushes around. Like in this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYuTiJ6fbdGMoJY same mountain as this video, the scale is hard to judge, did I actually almost crash, it sure felt like it. I always try and get as close as I can while leaving a little room for a slight correction.
@Wild__FPV Жыл бұрын
Well, looks like I'm not the only one dealing with this challenge! :) When there's no clear reference for sizing up the surroundings, the move is to kick off a recon flight. Take it slow, get up close and personal with the rocks, cruise at a chill pace, and then hit record for the real deal at top speed. Fly on, my friend@@FalconRadFPV

Love your content and your new style of voice over videos explaining your process! It's a huge help to us noobs trying to get into long range lol I do have a question for you regarding the GoPro Hero 6 and Reelsteady... When I record long range flights, GoPro splits the files into 4GB segments that don't seamlessly transition form 1 clip to the next. How do you get around that in your videos?
@FalconRadFPV3 жыл бұрын
You know I've been thinking of asking reelsteady about that. I think there is a firmware upgrade that might make the file size bigger but the hero 6 is supposed to work best with the older firmware that it comes with. Anyways, I don't really get around it, its more like cheating my way through it, lol. In in the editing software (I used premiere pro but most can do this) I go back and forth between the end of the one clip and beginning of the other. I look at how it shifts. If it jumps up and left then I go 2 seconds before the clip change and set a key frame for the zoom and hor. vert. positions. I do the same for the other clip but 2 seconds after it. Now 1 frame before they switch I will move the position hor. and vert. and sometimes zoom 1 to 3 %. I do this to both clips and have them "meet in the middle" so to speak. Now with key frames at each end both at standard settings, when it plays back premiere pro zooms and or pans for those 2 seconds to the slightly offset positions to meetup them zooms or pans again to return to standard settings at the end. It's really quite simple but I'm good at making things sound more complicated than they are, lol. I'll probably do a video about some of my editing procedure in the future... Got some build and setup videos to do for now though.

... that feeling you get when your video goes out & you just cross your fingers, realizing that there is nothing you can do other than hope GPS recue does it's job. I lost a quad a few weeks ago, it's no fun :( Seeing that big chasm with the waterfall at the end makes me want to hike out there and fly the river and waterfall. Any idea if there is any access?
@FalconRadFPV3 жыл бұрын
I know exactly where you mean. I look for trails going there every time I fly over. I have thought about wanting to get to that waterfall several times. But it's carved pretty deep anywhere near the waterfall. I think there is road access to that chasm from the other side but I think not as far up as the waterfall area. That road is pretty rough I haven't been very far up that side. I think it may be possible to get within a reasonable hiking distance to it but the entire area is kindy sketchy rock cover. The sides of the chasm have a couple of huge overhangs and the often found volcanic basalt of this area gets very unstable in spots. It's likely possible but would need to be careful about where you tried to hike if you get at all close to the chasm. (In mid summer that spot is so beautiful, I day dream of camping at the bottom of that waterfall 🙂)

Dang, scary!!! Great to have a voice over! Why is my rssi Always at 30, but LQ at 98-100 with Crossfire?
@evoke21043 жыл бұрын
Don't worry to much about rssi, I believe it's just sending data back at 25mw, so that's why you get telemetry lost warnings etc.. as long as LQ is good then that's all the matters, just have warnings set for them at 80 and 70%

raw rssi will drop by half at a few hundred meters, then is goes down more slowly. Really far away it goes down very slowly.

I had similiar experience when go through the cloud in 3.5km ... lost fpv feed for about 10 sec. and then failsafe Lucky me the rescue mode automatically turn on and my quad RTH. Unfortunatelly I can't get all the dvr file record, somehiw it being corrupted and I can only recover some part of it. I guess Fatshark dvr in default record mode is the cause.

Oh that sucks when you lose footage. I think doing a long format on the sd card every now and again might help.

This is awesome. Building a 7” now hopefully can do some flying like this. What size Li-Ion battery did you use?

Thanks, this was with 18650 cells, I used two 2600 mah 6s packs in parallel. so 5200 mah total. If you trade big motors (power and flight performance) for small ones (efficency) you could get similar range with less mah required.

nice again... would love to fly there, but that's one helluva walk of shame if you crapped out lol

You got that right! Almost all of my flights I would not even try getting it back. Due to lack of access retrieval would be more time consuming and expensive than just replacing it.
