Poor Zack. This moment made me sad, because Zack's my favorite Final Fantasy VII character and this game felt like a maturity/coming of age story. From a carefree and hotheaded upstart to a mellow, mature hero who never wavers. And his death was all the more heartbreaking when he realized Shinra was not what he thought and he was hoping to surprise Aerith when he was labeled K.I.A. "Embrace your dreams and protect your honor. If you wanna be a hero, you need to have dreams." Zack truly was a hero.

Even during his wild and young age, he had heart in right place. He really wanted to help Angeal. While FF series has overly gloomy, depressed characters and ADHD, hyperactive on the other hand, Zack is that balanced one.

There's a lot of paralells between him and the arc of Luke Skywalker, both helpless to save the ones they care about, both being disillusioned by their purposes, both become reclusive despite their forward thinking personalities, both concerned being manipulated and exploited by an uncontrollable inner weakness

What killed me is when the DMW started breaking. I was playing. I FELT the struggle. I FELT the hopelessness when the pictures came up blank. I was fighting back tears the entire time. Everytime I see this I can't cut back the tears. This is the sadest thing I've ever seen. Zack (even though he died) fought like a god. He never gave up. Plus he had the strongest heart. Pushing and pushing to save Cloud and get back to Aerith (that is true love!) And even though he was mocked for having dreams, he keep them. In the end he was more than a hero. R.I.P. Zack Fair.

This was honestly a heartbreaking moment in the FF VII universe, ranks close to Aerith's death for me. We knew he would die but he was so close, skilled, and powerful out of that army he cut their numbers down to only 3 soldiers. I hope to see this scenario briefly revisited in the Remake. just finished the game. and must say it made me tear up. what a totally flawless way to put together a ending. this game was truly amazing. i really regret getting rid of the buster sword later in the game when i get other swords, now that i realize how much true history that sword holds. makes me want to play VII again and keep the sword for the respect of Zack and Angeal.

Here is Zack Fair, 1st class SOLDIER, fighting an army of infantrymen from Shinra, the company he works for, and all he can think about is protecting Cloud, his friend, and about the woman he loves, Aerith. @g3ntlepanXDa Basically, Sephy went rogue at Nibelheim, yet Zack and Cloud were both found alive at Nibelheim. Realising that somehow Cloud and Zack had driven Sephiroth off before they collapsed, Hojo decided they would make perfect test subjects for the Genova project. Zack however, is SOLDIER and has already gone through Mako processing before, and his body managed to reject the Genova cells, and he woke up earlier than anticipated, breaking the comotose Cloud out and fleeing with him.

no, while they were going through Nebelheim (sorry if i mispelled it, i'm tired) Cloud was visible to the Shinra troops who did not shoot at him. they only attempted to drag him back to the lab, if needed, they most likely would have killed him but at the time their orders were not to kill Cloud

I saw Advent Children before playing Crisis Core, and before playing much of the original FF7. I saw Aerith and was like hey... I know you from the movie. I kept remembering a guy who's face wasn't really shown, with her just standing as she'd talk to cloud. Zack changes his hair after Angeal dies, I sit there and say to myself, "Fuck I'm dying at the end aren't I...."

You have to think, though, in between the period of him lying at the ladder and this scene, Zack (along with Cloud) had been imprisoned in mako-filled test tubes for four years prior to this. That's plenty of time for wounds to heal.

In order to cover up the incident, they decide eliminating them would be the easiest method. The Turks, upon discovering Zack was still alive, desprately hunt for him to capture him alive before Shinra could kill him, but they fail to find him before Shinra catch up. Killing Zack, they beleive Cloud is dying from the poisoning and leave him

@Kidelixr It is indeed, but whats so tragic, is you know he will die no matter what from knowing FF7 first, so the whole game is simply a journey to his death no matter what. Combine that with how well they did the flashbacks in battle, and the last little section with the near death Zack struggling, just being pumped full of bullets no matter how hard you try and attack the soldiers, you can't kill them.

He Mentions Zack in the beginning when he stabs Zack's Buster Sword in the ground and says ,"I promised I would live out both of our lives. Looks like I lied." Then it flashes back to Zack asking Cloud what he was going to do when they reached Midgar and Zack yelling "Cloud Run" Then he also sees Zack at the end with Aerith.

Before playing this game, I never really cared about Zack, but now he's my favorite FF character of all time. I thought Cloud was a hero, but Zack showed us what a true hero is. This scene is a WHOLE lot more depressing than someone people give it credit for. Most people say, "I feel so bad for Zack. He died, fighting, knowing he'd lose." Well of course he did, he was the valiant SOLDIER. He kept his SOLDIER honor, unlike the others. What really hits me hard is the fact that through FF7 on, Cloud never tells anyone about this incident. Zack's parents will never know what happened, nor will anyone else but Cloud. It's Cloud's personal burden he's lived with since.

I tried not to cry when I played this last, infamous battle. Zack, fighting with every fiber of his being, and with every last shred of his soul, to protect his friend, Cloud. Not only that, but he still needs to learn Cissnei's real name, and on top of that... all of those letters from Aerith. Tseng kept them all, but now, he'll never get them... Kinda getting emotional right now, with this music in the background... He'll never find out what she meant by 'final' in Aerith's last letter to him
