I am very happy to follow this podcast because I too believe that the ideal of Collegiality is a great danger to one of the Doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church already defined as a Dogma to believed by the Roman Catholic Church universally.I am a Catholic Priest by the Name Fr.John K.Kipruto

Dear Father I use to be a Religious for SSPX for 12 years. I have received alot of graces to persevere up to now in the Holy Faith after a past fill with mortal sins. The SSPX is still very much in my insignificant sacrificial prayers, and I have kept up a fervent Christian life owing to the Holy Sacrifice that you offer. Your priestly duties have profit me spiritually and doctrinally. It helps me carry my cross better, at least as a common reminder to keep trying increasing in Charity. Deo gratias et Mariae.

What a lucid and eye-opening explanation of just how far and deep are the errors of Vatican II. Don Tranquillo was also very pleasant and with excellent English. The questions were deftly put and well-timed. God bless you! Anthony, SSPX Wimbledon, UK.

Outstanding explanation by Fr Don Tranquillo - a brilliant theological explanation oozing truth, clarity and precision in the great confusion of our times made manifest by the errors of the documents of The Second Vatican Council including Lumen Gentium. Well well done Fr. May Our Lord and Our Lady richly reward you for defending dogma of The Church - the Papacy as instituted by Our Lord Himself!

The fallacy of the modernist position is easily seen with the situation regarding Bishop Strickland. If authority is automatic with ordination, and ordination is an indelible mark on the soul, a bishop could never have his jurisdiction or teaching authority revoked. And, of course, Episcopal authority can be revoked, even when it's by the error of the Pope, and ordination can't, so they must be separate.

One great tragedy of the abandonment of Catholic tradition is the neglect of the magisterium and the bulwark of scholarship inherited from the Angelic Doctor. The SSPX is living proof of the intellectual excellence of the true faith. To cast this aside is to become an irrelevance.
@jimsember35283 жыл бұрын
This is analogous to the modernist way marriage is considered. In rejecting that there is an hierarchical order to governance of the family, the wife and husband are considered to be equal and nobody has the final say. This has contributed to the dissolution of the family, as it led to the original sin.

Great explanation. It’s ironic that the SSPX in reality is more ultramontane than the Conciliar folks who accept the notion of Collegiality. They accept this but then they also accept unconditional outward obedience to the Pope for bad things and condemn AB Lefebvre for resisting attacks on the Faith. To them the SSPX are the only ones not taking advantage of this notion of subsistence. Can’t help noting the “zingers” coming from a certain Pope.

Perennialist traditionalists like Rene Guenon make the argument that all traditions and religions carry on (were born) from 1 tradition so in that sense all religions carry something of truth, and some may claim that the Catholic Church carries the "fullest version" of that tradition but yet they can all contain "truth" and in that sense the concept of the truth "subsisting" in the Catholic Church becomes possible and plausible. But that destroys the concept of Revelation by our LORD Jesus Christ, and the concept of Building his Church on Saint Peter (The Rock).

Wow! I had no idea what this Lumen?? Was really all about. I always was under the impression it wasn't very good teaching. The contradicts what Jesus Christ said..indirectly, Does it not? I'm going to paraphrase now upon this Rock, speaking to Peter, I will build my church. And I give you the keys a reference to Isaiah 22 is it not? Thank you thank you so much for exposing the error. Now I need to look into this more. Rosemarie 🔥💕

It's good to see a more thorough covering of collegiality. Religious Liberty and to some extent, ecumenism, have received a lot more coverage, but collegiality usually gets a small nod and perhaps a brief recap of history during the council, but not much is said about it otherwise. Me personally, I'd like a couple books written in a similar fashion to Religious Liberty questioned for both ecumenism and collegiality. As well as for the new mass. Each of then doing a simple explanation of the Church's teaching both from scripture and tradition and the fathers and doctors etc, and then an attempt at a definition of the new theology's erros on the aforementioned subjects, and then finally a final part whereing the two are contrasted. That was my issue with the problem of the Liturgical reform. It was a little all over the place and hard to follow. Perhaps some of that is due to the translation from the original language to English but even still. Although I do understand the challenge because the modernist erros are always so murky and hard to process, so it'd be a literal headache to do the proper research. Funny story: I got a headache from trying to read Ut Unum Sint several years back. Lol. That was some confusing, fluffy stuff. No precision or clarity at all and very difficult to wrap my head around.

What is the difference, if any, between collegiality and conciliarism?
@Iesu-Christi-Servus4 ай бұрын
Conciliarism is a radical form of collegiality, where the Council is directly invested by Christ with the powers to both assemble itself, define and promulgate decrees even without the pope, but it is always discussed within the context of General Councils. It takes root in a maximalist interpretation of the fifth session of Constance and the early Basel sessions. Collegiality can refer to some of the doctrines, spanning from heterodox conciliarism, orthodox healthy relationships of the episcopal body of churches, and an ultramontane harnessing, muzzling, and neutralizing the inherent powers of bishops to external elements such as regional councils, synods, episcopal conferences, etc.... Francis is clearly going the third way.

Does anyone know why this good priest recently left the SSPX, and/or where he is now?

I'm not a SV, however I always understood that supplied jurisdiction derives from the Church and not the Pope? In the case of emergency the Church Eternal provides the authority, even if the person of the Pope expressly disagrees in the specific instance. In a state of emergency the Church provides authority to save souls. I'm no theologian I'm simply interested in this point if anyone can enlighten me please do so.
@siderumtenus Жыл бұрын
Dear friend, forgive my english, I'm italian and I go to the priory where Father still is, Turin. The supplied jurisdiction is not ordinary, not stable: our sspx priests and bishops riceive it just for the single thing that is necessary to save a soul, for confessions in particular, not in a stabe manner, as ordinary jurisdiction would be

The Council had no authority to define doctrine. Therefore defined teaching remains and cannot be otherwise.
@thebarbelllifestyle14782 жыл бұрын
It's not that it didn't have the authority but that the council refused to exercise its infallible magisterium and chose to be a pastoral "re-expression" of the faith, in which it failed miserably at many points.

Well, I'm curious if the "bishops" of Victory Church is also part of the College of Bishops under the light of Lumen Gentium. Because if they are part of it, then... *facepalm... I'm actually surprised that this protestant sect have their own "bishops".

But sspx has no jurisdiction from the Pope. So where does this leaves us?
@jimsember35283 жыл бұрын
You say that Lumen Gentium defined the jurisdiction of a Bishop being conferred by ordination. But Vatican II is a non dogmatic/pastoral council. As such, it cannot define anything legitimately and it is certainly not legitimate to redefine something that has already been defined. Please clarify.
@westtex36752 жыл бұрын

Bishops conferences are useless.
@SSPX3 жыл бұрын
Not really
@SSPX3 жыл бұрын
Episcopal conferences are not something unheard of in the history of the church. They existed before Council, but were mostly just advisory bodies, for mutual support, and to help find solutions to problems posed in a certain region or territory, etc. Since the Council, they have been given authority effectively to bind the bishops within the conferences to obedience to their directives. And since there is a progressive majority, this has ended up restricting the ability of a conservative Bishop to rule, even in his own diocese, effectively. One conservative Bishop summarized his position thus: “As an individual bishop, I am absolutely powerless. Matters have been so arranged in the Church today, that an appeal by a bishop would be ridiculed as well as being unheard.” (Quoted by Romano Amerio, Iota Unum, Sarto House, Kansas City 1996 No. 234)
