this is really informative! and he explained it in a simple manner that can be understood by everyone. I’m a first year biochemistry student, and this particular topic caught my interest!

Fascinating talk. My concern is the costs for all the laboratory work and the cost of the drugs. It is all in the realm of Pharmaceuticals. In parallel, we can look at natural therapies, dietary therapies, many non-invasive treatments. Many are successful therapies with or without scientific investigations as to why the therapy is successful. For lay persons, it helps to be well-educated on both main stream medicine and complementary or alterative therapies.

Complimentary = without evidence of efficacy. Allows quacks and charlatans to make money.

We could develop a biotech with quantum dots enveloped within gold nanoparticles enveloped within liposomes enveloped within exosomes and then gene-edit targeted organs and tissue without systemic side effects

Look into focused ultrasound, a very rapidly progressing therapy. I am on the waiting list for it for treatment-resistant OCD in Toronto. Hundreds of studies are being done on it, right now, after the first study was done in 2013.

Looks like we are still going to need biochemists but some of the work is now going to be automated. Hopefully this is going to change the medical industry forever.
