If you don't want to use whipping cream you can soak some raw cashews overnight in water, and then blend it - it's a healthier alternative that a lot of people in india use.

Thank you Flo (and Dude). This recipe for butter chicken sauce is delicious and so flavorful. I made this recipe the next day I saw the video. My daughter and I love this recipe. She has made this butter chicken sauce several times now but we do add about 2 tbsp finely chopped onion and add about 1-2 tbsp sugar. I really enjoy watching your videos and love the content. Thanks again.

Tip, I keep a jar of 50/50% garlic & ginger crushed in the fridge. Keeps for months and is great for Indian cuisine. Have you tried substituting coco nut milk for cream? I do all the time, much healthier and recommended by Indian chefs.

haha Dude's reading my mind. "speak for yourself" .. I'd eat the whole pot and then some. My issue with whipping cream isn't so much the fat but it's the same issue with tomato paste .. I always end up using some and then try so hard to figure out how to use up the rest. Do you think milk + butter = whipping cream? Indian food still feels super daunting .. not much overlap between Indian spices and Chinese spices. I do notice that garam masala seems to be the foundation for practically all Indian dishes. You guys are awesome! Never stop making videos (and food)! Thanks!

Love the recipe. And I also dislike the waste of flour when flouring meat of any kind. I use a sheet pan, season the meat, then with the meat in the sheet pan shake flour from a shaker over the meat.

The difference between Panko and regular breadcrumbs is that it's toasted crumbs. I'd never tried Indian food but butter chicken was one of the first recipes I tried! Found a very authentic recipe (had to make the garam masala even!) written for the IP so it was a great way to try both Indian and the IP! It was delicious! I'm sure yours is too!

I think people hear "spicey" the think Mexican spicey. Indian is more flavourful, not spicey. There's another word I'm thinking of but someone interrupted me and I forgot LOL Please don't worry about the natural fat in heavy cream. Fat is essential for brain health. It's much more essential for health than rice or naan! Millions of people have returned to good health through low carb, high fat eating. 😀
@mudiekitty25874 жыл бұрын
@@TracyKMainwaring I would add, pastured lard, beef tallow (all farm sourced--non-gmo), organic avocado oil (Chosen Foods- glyphosate free-- tested) and schmaltz. Vegetable oils are highly refined cheap oils and IMHO dangerous to our health. Tons of research and videos on the subject. A great place to start is: The Weston Price Foundation. As far as cream/milk etc. .... non-UHT and farm sourced if possible. UHT destroys all nutrients to make the products shelf stable. Buy local and support our amazing farmers in Canada and US. I will most definitely be testing this recipe. Thank you SO much for your channel. I look forward to all your recipes. Much love! A Canadian living in the United States for over 20 years.

@@mudiekitty2587 I've been trying to avoid vegetable/seed oils this year and that means even more cooking for own ingredients before even getting to the real cooking LOL. Frustrating how many people feel canola is healthy. BUT, for 20 years we were brainwashed by the Canadian Heart Association and doctors, clinicians.... pushed low fat, high sugar foods, margarines, chemical concoctions instead of real foods. So glad to finally see the light.

A number of years ago, I went out with a group of co-workers. I was basically "following along" 'cause everyone wanted to go for Indian food and I had never had Indian food. Luckily, the place we went to was buffet style so, I could pick and choose whatever I thought I would like. That was the first time I had butter chicken and it was delicious. However, I *really* like your take on the dish, Flo, even though it's not traditional! 😋😋 I guess Dude was so anxious to dig into that butter chicken that he forgot to announce that it was "The Taste"! LOL (Not that we really needed to be told, but he always says, "The Taste" before he digs in!)

This dish looks soooo delicious. I would just modify one thing (from a health perspective). I would replace the generic 'vegetable oil' with much healthier fats, such as butter, coconut, olive or avocado oil. Those "vegetable oils" should really be named "highly processed seed oils". By the time the seeds have been crushed, heated, oxidized, subjected to solvents and deodorants, their oil bears no resemblance to anything found in nature. They are high omega 6 ratio, oxidized industrial products. Studies have shown that they are toxic to human cells, being stored in the mitochondria where they do damage. Interestingly there seems to be a correlation between the advent of, first cottonseed, then soy, corn oils, and heart disease, cancer and macular degeneration, among other serious health problems.
