CRISPY HI-HATS IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS | How to Mix Drums 🎧 Part Three
In this video, I go over 3 simple steps to help you make crispy hi-hats with presence that glide over the beat without sounding overpowering and clunky. I'll be using FL Studio (FL Studio 20, specifically), but this can be done using any DAW, with any EQ plugin, as long as it's parametric. I'll be using Parametric EQ 2, which is a stock plugin in FL Studio.
This production advice is my own, after more than a decade of experience. I know how difficult it can be to get crispy hi-hats, so breaking it down to 3 simple steps was my best solution.

Part 2 will be coming out soon, and it will most likely cover a combination of compression and some other effects to fill out the video. Hi-hat compression is fairly simple, but then blending it can be a challenge, so we will see. My next video will be about snare/clap EQ, and should be out later this week. Probably Friday :)

Dude, when you're comparing before and after don't pause the audio and say something, just switch it. Sonic memory is very short.

Hello my friend, here are some points u r missing here. (1). No linear phase mode in the EQ 2. no adjusting the gain after EQ 3. no Highcut filter 4. no cutting resonanzes 5. no mixing in the context Sorry for my english, but i have to say it.

This video was made for producers that just want to keep it simple and learn a quick, easy method for EQ'ing their hats as they're making beats, mixing, etc. I agree with your additions, though. Those problem frequencies can build on you if you're not cutting resonances, so it's important to keep those things in check. Maybe I'll make a more in-depth video about this topic soon.
