This is the first video to be presented on this channel entirely dedicated to vocal artists of exception. Cristina Deutekom is heard and seen in excerpts of Bellini’s Norma given at the San Diego Opera in 1986. This is a rare live video for the period, unfortunately it was flawed with excessive compression: lowering of the volume in forte and boosting of the soft passages, destroying all the dynamic extremely important for a voice to be able to express music and feelings.
I personally work many hours to give back to the music all the dynamic and power it had lost. Many thanks to person who recorded the video without him I would not have been able to "remasterize" this extraordinary performance that I can now offer on “Great Vocal Performances”.
Questo è il primo video presentato su questo canale interamente dedicato ad artisti vocali d'eccezione. Cristina Deutekom viene ascoltata e vista in estratti della Norma di Bellini eseguiti all'Opera di San Diego nel 1986. Si tratta di un video live raro per l'epoca, purtroppo viziato da un'eccessiva compressione: abbassamento del volume nei forti e aumento dei passaggi morbidi, distruggendo tutta la dinamica estremamente importante per una voce per poter esprimere musica e sentimenti.
Personalmente ho lavorato molte ore per restituire alla musica tutta la dinamica e la potenza che aveva perso. Ringrazio la persona che ha registrato il video, senza la quale non avrei potuto "rimasterizzare" questa straordinaria performance che ora posso offrire su "Great Vocal Performances".
