Thank you for uploading the race. We have all made the same mistakes that you talk about during the video. To me the most interesting part of the video was at 12:48 when the winner of the race was right in front of you! Had you been up front the whole race you would have recognized that this rider (no club kit) was the wheel to be on. I was up front most of the race and could see that this guy was the best rider in the group. By being up front you conserve so much energy as you can pick the right line through the corners and never touch your brakes. See you this summer and practice throwing water bottles this winter. wink wink

Water bottle as extra weight? That’s nuts...you need fluids! Always.

There are many reasons not to sprint at the end of a race, and few reasons to sprint at the end of a race. Sprinting can be dangerous, and if you're the last person in the pack and you come charging through the pack because you want to practice your sprint, you're likely to run someone over. In this case it was literally two people... it's more OK. My rule of thumb is: don't sprint unless you're contesting the podium (or it's the group sprint, and you're contesting top 10). If you really want a workout, lead out a teammate. If you really want to sprint, but you know you're not going to be near the front at the end.... just attack the field.

If you weren't tired at the end, why did you give up and pedal 200w and get passed by everyone? it's the very end of the race. No point in saving yourself to sprint for 20th when you could've caught that group for much less than 1000 watts

6 minutes in. Why aren't you drafting? why aren't you moving up? Why aren't you taking advantage of the slow portions where people aren't pedaling? You keep saying "stay near front" but properly define this first. You should be sitting 8-6th wheel and sagging when there's a surge forward and spinning when they slow. You sit in the wind entirely too much, especially at 25-30mph. WHY?! Looks like none of the turns are really that sharp and you're not going fast enough to pedal strike. Pedal through the corner to carry more momentum.

Good job on closing the gap at 9:20 - but it could be argued that you got used to close it so those other racers didn't have to. You also should have caught the split long before it. Had you been smart and sitting 6th wheel, you would be on the front of the split. .

Cool. Your HRM is broken tho. Real AVG HR probably more like 150-160 bpm...
