And you very much need to reaffirm consent. Even if someone gives you the okay to have sex with them, they can still feel uncomfortable with a number of things about it, and you should be sure that each step of the way is met with a resounding _yes_ before continuing to ensure BOTH parties find it a positive experience. That's not even just with sex, it goes with literally anything. You never ever _assume_ consent. What if you set some money on the counter and a roommate of yours came over and took it, saying "Oh sorry, I just _assumed_ you didn't need this since you set it down". Or the assholes that steal the food in the fridge. Or the ones that use your shit without asking. Imagine going to use your towel and finding hairs that aren't yours. You know how disgusting that is? 'Don't take what isn't yours' may be a super obvious boundary for most people, but there are a number that would say "If you didn't take better care of it then you didn't really care about it" and think that shit is free real estate. BDSM as a culture is centered around traditionally taboo types of intimacy/relationships between adults being "safe" to practice, especially those centered around one person having a level of control over another. (Hence the anagram standing for BonDage, Dominance/Submission, Sado/Masochism) Naturally, such practices have a major potential for all kinds of abuse. So the biggest tennant in the community is that all parties are agreeing to behave/live in this way, have the right to stop behaving/living like that whenever they need, and everyone's top priority is the physical, mental, and emotional health of everyone involved. That's still a very simplified version of it. I'm probably not best equipped for a full lesson on the subject. Talking to and asking people who are into it is the fastest way to learn though.

First Story: Would've walked out a lot sooner. As soon as she stripped, I would've been packing my things up and leaving, never to return. Please keep your fetishes for private matters. Second Story: Rape is Rape. "We tried to open you up because conservative." He flat out said he was a recovering PORN ADDICT, his discomfort had *nothing* to do with his religious beliefs. You never, _ever_ have a recovering addict anywhere *near* the vices that they are, or in OP's case were, addicted to. It's like giving a recovering alcoholic a sip of beer. It _never ends well_ as it can cause a relapse. For his ex-fiancée and the DM's wife to pull that stunt shows how little care the former actually had. The second story was definitely the thankfully now ex-fiancée attempting to get him to give permission to sexually engage with other people (while having him think it's his idea as to not admit the cheating), with at least the DM and the woman she was cheating on the OP with being in on it. That's what the "opening him up to a bigger world" thing was about. It puts it in a much, much worse light when you realize this, the entire thing was a set up to retroactively give legitimacy to her cheating, inviting him into a game putting him in a really bad place for her personal gain. It's probably a good thing the OP didn't seem to realize this.

It & its rules are explained at the beginning of the game, and work in conjunction with stuff like setting boundaries in session 0, but is for mid-game stuff. The X Card sits in the middle of the table between players & GM, within reach of anyone. If someone gets uncomfortable with a topic/ etc, they can reach out to tap the card, and the subject is dropped-- no matter what it is, even if it seems silly, and no questions are asked about why, and only asked about what if it's not clear. In a virtual tabletop, I think it would have to be something said in the group chat, or maybe there could be a virtual token too? Idk. It's *like* a safe word, but less easy to miss in cross-chatter that happens during a game.

Intimacy is one of those double edged swords. I think a general rule is to go with the person who has the lowest desire as the base line. IE if someone is flat out uncomfortable with it you avoid it where as if everyones generally okay with the idea so long as it's 'fade to black' then go with that.

To be honest, "pornography addict" is a made-up thing. Humans have a pretty strong natural sex drive and sexual curiosity, and it can be managed responsibly as long as you don't try to cut it off completely - that's when you end up with the weird opened floodgates effect. In other words, don't get all guilty over looking at porn. Who's it hurting? No-one (unless someone was harmed or had their human rights infringed upon in making it - in that case, absolutely _do not_ look at that particular porn or anything like it, obviously). If anything, feel guilty if you marry someone you barely know just so you can avoid the temptation of extramarital sex, then end up both miserable because once you do know each other properly, you don't love each other. I think in Catholicism (not sure what denom the guy was, but just using it for a full scope analysis), divorce is still a mortal sin even with just cause, but given the circumstances described, he could still have applied for annulment, since the evidence he was shown clearly indicate that any vows she would have made would have been deliberate lies, making the marriage ceremony null. Okay, leading in with only having finished the first story but I've got /Thoughts/ and like any good denizen of the internet, I am compelled to spew them. As someone who participates in the kink lifestyle, everything about that was negligent and gross. My first instinct is that he has zero control over his pet (she's clearly a pet player, what with the cat-girl thing) and they likely never went over how dynamics shift within the house when company arrives. Personally, her throwing a tantrum and being a brat over not having the attention she wanted, letting her sit outside to stew in it, would have been my choice, too. But I'd -Also- have excused myself from the table to pull her aside /privately/ to reprimand the actions as not acceptable in what was essentially a public forum, and probably sent her home to be dealt with at a later date. Everyone handles their kink dynamics differently, but there's just common courtesy, and one of them is control your fucking pets, make sure boundaries are set in place, and do -not- for the love of god, rope people into your play without their consent. Sure it's your home, but you made the decision to have guests over, and if you didn't discuss with them beforehand about what might be happening there, then don't fucking do it. This kind of behaviour irritates me to no end, and the DM's absolute pisspoor management of his play partner was unacceptable at best. We might be a bunch of sexually deviant fucks, but we shouldn't be irresponsible, inconsiderate degenerate fucks.

As someone who is actively in the kink world, that first story is incredibly troubling and out of line. One of the main things that are pushed is outright consent and that includes people who are actively adjacent to the scene as well as the folks in it. The DM should have hit his players up and asked them ahead of time if they are comfortable being around this situation, or even further, actively wanted to take part in the D/S play as well. Rather than ambushing and assuming folks would be cool with it. Also, if there is one person who says no, then you'd have to respect that and hold off on it until a later time.

Not gonna lie, but I'm exactly in the second op's shoes, both personally and religiously. I don't know what I would do if my fiance betrayed my trust like that. Not to mention the aspect of the dm and fiance not respecting op's beliefs and views and believing their own to be so much smarter and greater than his own. Stories like these are precisely why I came up with a set of rules for whenever I DM any campaigns. My rules regarding adult themes: Anything can be brought to the table, but ONLY if everyone gives their consent/approval beforehand. Especially for kink-related things!
