Exactly how I feel about The Criterion Collection. I want to SEE all of the films, but I don’t want any to own 99% of them. However, for those who DO want to own these films, this is often the best or only way to own them. They restore and archive films that shaped cinema into what it is today.

Great haul! Dazed & Confused looks great and great packaging as well. I just watched Night of the Living Dead last weekend, you’re right, it holds up really well. I don’t mind Criterion, they’re kind of the OG when it comes to boutique labels but I’d love to see them step up their game in terms of packaging. Definitely lagging compared to Arrow, Second Sight, Vinegar Syndrome & Umbrella.

I remember when they were the place that you could get a lot of laser discs in the late 80s lol...they have been around!!! I think they do need to step up their packaging...not improving packaging kind reads as they think they are better and above it -while in my opinion, great artwork and special packaging should fit like a glove with their brand

@@AVAPopCulture 💯 …..there’s a few decent ones like Videodrome and Dazed & Confused but they don’t hold a candle to the premium sets of Arrow, VS & Second Sight. The pricing for what you get is a little suspect too

During July ALL Criterion are 50% off. Don’t go off the sticker they mark because it’s usually less than what they mark. Also Basketcase is not worth it
@AVAPopCulture5 ай бұрын
I am sure... the 49.99 MSRP stickers come out to being 24.99 BUT they are NEVER ever sold for that 49.99 price...the only time they go by that price is when they use it as the base for the 50% off sale...the rest of the time they are always 20% or 30% off that price at B&N AND when I order straight from Criterion...- th eRepo Man 4k is $34.99 at Criterion for Pre-Order for instance - that is why going by the MSRP is not really "real" because they virtually never actually sale for that and NOWHERE on Earth is a standard BluRay release worth, or should ever have a suggested retail of $49.99 -
@Beetleejuicee5 ай бұрын
@@AVAPopCulture i see what you are saying now but I think Criterion and Barnes & Noble do full MSRP throughout the year. During July Barnes & Noble sale Criterion also lowers their prices to get some buyers. All pre-orders however are sometimes more. For the most part all Blurays from criterion are $19.99 at 50% off. Repo man 4K is a brand new pre-order and is in 4K now for the new release but is also a Digipack (which are always more). However all 4K releases are $24.99 at 50% off. Any prices higher than $24.99 at 50% off are more expensive 4Ks that are Digipack releases. I have see. Criterion full price and branes and noble does full price but none of them are full price during July. Wait till August and everything on both sites will be full price. Criterion might sell for slightly less but that’s a discount from ordering directly through them. All other sites will have at full price except for Criterion. I see what you are saying but you are not getting these for cheaper than their 50% off sale. Furthermore no other studio puts ALL of their titles for half price. Can’t think of any studios. Usually pay well over $30 for 4K from boutique labels and usually $30-$40 on a bluray from a boutique. Criterion Barnes & noble sale is the best sale that I have ever seen on physical media every year. Wish other studios did that so I have to give props to whoever allows all these titles to get 1/2 off. Not only that you get the 10% AND you get $5 and $10 off of tons of stuff you buy to just add to more discounts and free money off. I usually end up paying well under 50% off for titles at B&N during their sale. So they might be tricky with the sale but it really is 1/2 off or more if you play your cards right. The best prices in my opinion out of everyone in the market.
