Everyday watching your videos make me keep the hope that someday, somehow my data will be recovered. It may be a false hope but that is my coping mechanism. Thank you bro.

Using cold spray is a neat trick I have not seen before, have been wanting an IR camera to find shorts but... cold spray is a lot more affordable :)
@hddrecoveryservicesАй бұрын
That is the main reason I wanted to show the use. I have IR cam, and yeah it could be very helpful but this works too

What about rosin smoker to determine the bad capacitors ?
@hddrecoveryservicesАй бұрын
I've seen that technique but I don't have a rosin smoker. I also saw it being used for fluxing freshly reballed chips. Very cool, I think I will get one

so, what you say that cap blown up and blown the fuse on 5V line Any reason why you do not have/use a thermal camera?
@hddrecoveryservicesАй бұрын
I have a thermal camera. This is just one of the ways to find shorts

I have a crucial 500GB SSD. Its an older drive. It has gone into read only mode when I had trouble getting the USB adapter I had it plugged into, to stay connected to the PC. Something triggered the read only mode during its plugging in and out rapidly. But the drive has no bad areas and reads fine. Is there any way at all to reset the read only or is this some sort of fuse issue or something that blows internally to the controller?
@hddrecoveryservicesАй бұрын
This is not electrical failure. There might be a utility on USBdev to reformat these on vendor level. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with restoration process. I only get and do data recovery work

Alex, most likely your drive has a very known issue for any WD unit called "slow response". Nearly 10 years ago, I wrote this article: www.hddrecovery.ca/blog/slow-passport-data-recovery/ It explains why WD drives have these issues.
