Let’s also not forget what the US has done to disrupt the global trade since 2018. There is no country that can survive a suppression from the strongest economy in the world and still maintain growth. Look at what Japan, Russia and Germany did after the US started suppressing their economy. Of course every country will need to solve its own problems no matter what the external environment is. China has done well and will continue to do well because of its leadership and its people.

Back in 2017 China chief Justice Zhou Qian famously declared that China must show its sword against judicial independence and to have confidence in CPC leadership and unique path to governance. Politics precedes capital or anything else in China. And so it’s gonna be like it has always been.

Here are some of the critical chronic issues that the majority of the people in that country are facing: Economic inequality, inflation, stagnant real wages for the last forty years, costly healthcare, an expensive education system, student loan debt totaling $1.7 trillion with an average balance of $38,000, poor public transportation systems, racial inequality, mass incarceration, the militarization of police, deteriorating infrastructure, housing affordability, homelessness, the opioid epidemic, and gun violence. Their internal contradictions will cause their collapse within the next four years.

Let me guess which country that is. It's the one which goes around doing regime change, imposing sanctions on others, interferes with other countries, invades other countries, with a rigged electoral system controlled by billionaires and etc etc.

this top-down approach and upward approval system is also the main issue in the west, although maybe to a lesser degree than in china. But our governments also overreact to many issues, exaggerating problems: lockdowns, inflation, war, climate policies, etc.. i personally don’t see much difference, only we in the west accept all this nonsense because most of us still believe these policies are created in a democratic way.. i believe china will overcome and I’m invested accordingly.

This comment seems to assume that the economy is prioritized, doesn't it? However, when security is the main concern, a centralized decision-making approach is often preferred..? With security is more at the forefront having a centralize decision is preferred. Xi Jinping clearly believe the time a head will be hard a kin to a 100 year storm.

It was very strange that Angela did never once compare the Chinese regulation system with the US one which many feel is broken. The regulatory agencies in the United States have largely been neutered by successive administrations operating on neoliberal lines. Similarly, the big tech companies in the US are a law unto themselves. Lastly, Angela's comments on China's growing success in high tech industries were mealy mouthed and highly biased. She seems to criticize everything in China without any balanced assessment. She comes, across more as pro western political activist rather than an academic. Very disappointing...
