In October 2021, a church in New Jersey asked Dr. Frank Turek to give a presentation on Critical Race Theory because the issue was dividing their church and community. A capacity crowd of about 500 showed up and heard Frank address these three questions:
1. What does the culture mean by social justice?
2. What are the fundamentals of critical theory?
3. How does it line up with Biblical Christianity?
He then answered questions from the audience for about 30 minutes.
There’s a lot of ground covered in this presentation, but if you want to go further you might want to check out the website of Dr. Neil Shenvi at shenviapologetics.com/

Anytime a person of color even hints at a racial issue and starts to speak on it people lump it under some term like “CRT” and then dismiss it. (If it’s CRT its problematic and therefore we don’t have to listen) My hope and prayer is that people would listen first and then respond. Not every racial issue is CRT, or social justice.

What I don’t agree with is elevating someone’s experience over another or requesting for people to take responsibility for a system or other’s sins. CRT is not asking for us to simply listen and hear them. CRT demands actions.

@@watchandjewelryloft4713 You have been led astray from the truth. Evidence for Jesus Christ’s existence, crucifixion, and disappearance from the grave (He rose from it): The Lord Jesus Christ did exist, gathered disciples, and was crucified and went missing from the grave. To argue about wether He was taken from the grave or rose from it, is an argument a skeptic can make. Because well if you disregard the eye witness testimony of the disciples and there willingness to die for Christ, and humans won’t die for something they know is a lie, when Peter is pinned upside down to that cross, he could have said that it was a fake, but He didn’t because it wasn’t, what care would he have about death in this world if he knew for a fact he had assurance of a life in another, Jesus Christ did rise from the grave and is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Now the evidence for the Lord Jesus Christ’s existence really isn’t hard to find a multitude of non-Christian scholars and historians mention Him within 150 years after the time of His life. One such is Tacitus a Roman historian who reported on emperor nero’s decision to blame the Christians for the fire that had destroyed rome in 64 AD. Tacitus wrote: “Nero fastened the guilt ... on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome…” In this Tacitus makes reference to not only Christians, but Christ calling Him Christus and confirming the Gospels going on to say that He suffered the extreme penalty (crucifixion) under the reign of Tiberius and by the sentence of Pontius Pilate, which like I said confirms the Gospels narrative. Another important source of evidence about Jesus and early Christianity can be found in the letters of Pliny the Younger to Emperor Trajan. Pliny was the Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. In one of his letters, dated around A.D. 112, he asks Trajan's advice about the appropriate way to conduct legal proceedings against those accused of being Christians. Pliny says that he needed to consult the emperor about this issue because a great multitude of every age, class, and sex stood accused of Christianity. At one point in his letter, Pliny relates some of the information he has learned about these Christians: “They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food - but food of an ordinary and innocent kind.” This passage provides a number of interesting insights into the beliefs and practices of early Christians. First, we see that Christians regularly met on a certain fixed day for worship. Second, their worship was directed to Christ, demonstrating that they firmly believed in His divinity. Furthermore, one scholar interprets Pliny's statement that hymns were sung to Christ, "as to a god", as a reference to the rather distinctive fact that, "unlike other gods who were worshipped, Christ was a person who had lived on earth." If this interpretation is correct, Pliny understood that Christians were worshipping an actual historical person as God! Of course, this agrees perfectly with the New Testament doctrine that Jesus was both God and man. You may have heard of the scholar Flavius Josephus who mentioned James as being the brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, which matches what Paul said calling James “The Lord’s brother” and there is another document that Josephus may have written which goes: “About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he ... wrought surprising feats.... He was the Christ. When Pilate ...condemned him to be crucified, those who had . . . come to love him did not give up their affection for him. On the third day he appeared ... restored to life.... And the tribe of Christians ... has ... not disappeared.” Now it’s up to debate wether this is the entirely original document of what Josephus wrote, or if a Christian had edited it. But regardless he wrote about the Lord Jesus Christ. Wether it was negative or positive like the possible document is. Anyways there are many other statements, documents, letters, and writings of all sorts from the ancient world talking about the Lord Jesus Christ and there is not one question if He was a real person or if He was crucified and went missing from the grave. That is clear as day, He is a real person, was crucified, and went missing from the grave. And He did rise from the grave. And for more evidence of the Lord Jesus Christ, there’s the Bible and you see there is no evidence the Bible is corrupted, a lie, created by the Roman government, folktale. It is the recount of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, now wether you want to believe it is up to you. And what profit was there in spreading Christianity, All the early Christian suffered persecution, beatings, and were killed. Another Scholar reported that James the Lord’s Brother was thrown off a building and then stoned to death for spreading the Gospel in Jerusalem. These people went to great lengths even giving their own lives for the Lord Jesus Christ

I kind of disagree with Dr. Turek's answer to the last question by the young asian man. I worked some with Hmong in a personal ministry. Their pastor got his doctorate degree after many years and they were having a service to honor Christ and him in this accomplishment. They invited me to attend this service so I did. When I first got there I was standing in the back looking for someone I knew and a gentleman approached me to ask if I was in the right place. I told him I thought so because I was there to celebrate the accomplishment of the pastor. He immediately went out of his way to make me feel welcome and at home. The service was done mostly in the Hmong language with just a few english words thrown in. There was enough english words and references to the Bible that I could sort of follow along. Afterwards I talked to the pastor and the youth pastor and told him he didn't have to use the english because I was there. He told me he didn't; he used it because the youth weren't all fluent in Hmong so it helped them. We then ate. It was a wonderful experience of Christian fellowship. I was pretty much mobbed by everyone welcoming me and introducing me to everyone. Good Christians are Good Christians in any language and we miss out when we don't experience that because of language barriers.

I think one of the major issues we all run into nowadays is a lack of nuance as well. One example is the idea of "color-blindness" that was pushed in the '90s and early 2000s. While the intent was good, it made it too easy for people to ignore the truth of what happened to different groups in the States, and the world at large, because the was such an emphasis on ignoring color. A more nuanced approach would have been to do you absolute best to treat everyone with the same level of respect and simultaneously keep in mind that everyone's *lived experience* is different; you cannot throw out what someone else says just because what you've experience is different.

@@serpentines6356 that is also true. As I said above, everything has nuances. We need to hold fast to the truth of God’s word and understand that people have their own perception of everything. @@serpentines6356 People don’t only have their“lived experiences” but the history of their ancestors experiences. Example: my great great grandmother was a house slave who worked in the house of her enslaver. She was raped by one of her enslavers friends. She had my great grandfather. Here is the experience that she passed down, her enslaver laughed at her condition and said these words “ I gets me a free n____. “ She said no matter where the white man comes from or how money he has, he always feels he’s better than colored people. My experience in the sixth grade I attended an integrated school and sat between to white girls who whispered to me everyday “ you’re a little n______. I told no one not even my parents. I felt it would not do any good. We cannot deny people their experiences because we don’t want to remedy or change . Now in the state of Florida the education department has said Advanced Placement classes that teach African American History are not relevant to teach. That slavery benefited the slaves because it gave them job skills. Christ warns us not to cast judgment on anyone. But I think the word “judge” in this sentence “don’t judge a person by their skin color but judge based on the content of their character” is more about forming an opinion about a person based on their actions rather than their shade of skin. I’m not sure it’s much different, although casting judgement in Christ’s term is saying what you believe they deserve based on their character and actions, but in the MLK Jr sense it’s more about forming an idea about what kind of person they are. Both senses of “judgement” are biblical. Treat a person based on their actions alone, don’t judge based on shade. Two senses of judgement, same idea.

I get what you are saying, but aren't I called to love my enemies? I think we misread that Christ tells us not to judge - instead it's my understanding that we are supposed to judge - however we are called to understand that we too will be judged and that we can't go around ignoring the planks in our own eyes while pointing out the specks in other peoples' eyes.

How far back do we go in history? 1 minute, 1 year 10 years 100 years 1000 years 10000 years 100000 years? 1000000 years? There have been over 22000 major wars in the last 500 years alone. All of those too the Victor belonged the spoils. Up until America put a stop too that in the last century. After WW2 America helped even Japan rebuild. Why? Because CHRIST is LORD and America still had Bible study in the school systems. America was a still a Christian nation. America still had prayer in schools. It took the world about 1800 years after CHRIST paid the price for our salvation,for mankind to finally follow the lead of Christians too love their neighbors too free the slaves. First in England, then America. Then the rest of the sheep followed. Why didn't Moses,Aristotle or JESUS CHRIST get rid of slavery? I'm a Christian, so why didn't CHRIST get rid of it? JESUS says the soul that sins is a slave too sin? What does that mean. If you have a culture of death,slavery what do you have? JESUS came to free us from death,sin and give us life. Because we are sinners, we lust/covet our neighbors stuff. We dishonor GOD and our parents when we covet stuff. As we sin and covet our neighbors stuff,what are we capable of doing to acquire them? We murder, lie,cheat, steal and never stop coveting. If you love your neighbors as yourself, you will only seek their good. Without CHRIST we are what history shows we are. All that evil needs to prosper is for good men to do nothing. It took 1800 years for Christians too stop slavery. How long will it take to stop the baby genocide? A true brother in the faith. Glad he went into the brief historcal overview before tackling the balancing of the issue rationally as many people who dismiss the history do so and then treat it as if it was "OH so long ago" When many of their recent ancestors were at hanging rallies in the pictures, this is a very recent history... Ignoring it as if it does not affect negatively our society in all ethnic groups to some degree is doing nothing but putting it back into obscurity where people can potentially cause issues again, but giving it more power than the SOLUTIONS is ALSO just as bad and unproductive as many pro black people often do. Dont dismiss the issue as if its non existent and not worth still fixing, it is not sufficiently fixed though it is a lot better now, and dont make it your entire identity as it only breeds resentment and more racism.

@@peck7067 all the children of the flesh can be born again as a spiritual child of God. The gospel goes to the unsaved, who are saved by grace through faith in Christ. The vision is a vision to show that God is no respect of person. But once you believe, you are converted (born again) as a spiritual child of God, not of flesh and blood with skin. That is the temporal carnal beggarly things. All of this world and people represents carnal Israel, not just the lie of the Middle East. All who believe the gospel are CONVERTED to Jews from Gentiles. The true Jews are born from the Israel of God, which you must be born again (converted) to enter into, as Jesus said. They have eternal life because they heard the voice of the shepherd and didn’t harden their heart. There is no three Abrahamic faiths. There is not salvation outside of Christ. There is no “chosen race”. The children of the flesh are not the children of God. The lying signs and wonders are the same lies told when Christopher Columbus, who claimed he was a Jew and claimed that America was Israel via “Manifest Destiny” to justify colonizing the America’s with New Haven (“New Heaven”). It is all lies to fake prophecy for worldly gains. We are to believe that God lied when the scriptures say: my sheep have eternal life, never perish, are a light to all nations to make convert of all men and His kingdom is not of this world, which is why you cannot enter it unless you are born again into it because flesh and blood cannot enter. And without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God. But we have carnal wars for carnal treasures of this world and dying “sheep” who entered the so-called promise land in unbelief with the help of colonist spin offs. That is what people believe. They want you to support carnal war for unbelievers that are perishing daily. See the deception? The so-called Jews are waiting for the Messiah, which means Christ, but the Christ(Ians), who are supposed to have Christ IN THEM and are IN CHRIST don’t know where the Saviour is, who supposedly saved them and is IN THEM? Wow! So, is Jesus in YOU? If so, Jesus is HERE in the flesh no matter what color you are. Paul said, since you seek a proof of Christ speaking IN ME. Today if you hear HIS VOICE… See the deception yet? See the blatant contradiction yet, “Christian”. What is your mission??? The enemy is death, the solution is eternal life IN CHRIST, from the ONLY WISE SAVIOUR, JESUS. From FAITH TO FAITH, the just shall LIVE by FAITH. What is FAITH? Without FAITH it is impossible to please God. Here is a hint: Philippians 3:3 (KJV) For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Romans 8:9 (KJV) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Why should the Christian care about Critical Race Theory? Is it as harmful to the faith as the politicians say it is to education, society, and human relations? It’s a good question, and without spending lots of time researching the issue, most will just move on with their lives, caring little about its impact on the Kingdom of God. I had one such individual come to me and ask me to narrow down my biggest complaint with CRT. Here’s what I told him: Critical Race Theory is antithetical to the Gospel mainly because it is not redemptive. To put it another way, there is no forgiveness in CRT. Whereas the Gospel heralds forgiveness as its core centerpiece, CRT is an open-ended analysis of guilt, shame, and blame; never allowing the offender or the offended an opportunity to assuage any wrong. Further, the Gospel has a goal. CRT does not. The end goal of the Gospel is redemption - justification before God and peace with fellow man. The end goal of CRT is undefined - never able to bridge the gap of hate, injustice, or sin. Instead, CRT offers its adherents a cyclical pattern of pain, vengeance, and oppression. Lastly, the Gospel has good fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control - against such, there is no law. CRT bears fruit of bitterness, guilt, blame, animosity, and division - against such, there are an abundance of laws. So, choose for yourself how you will see CRT, especially in light of the glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For the Christian, the Gospel is sufficient to address the problem of sin. It does not need analytical tools to help it. At a minimum, remember what's been said here. If you know nothing else about CRT, knowing that it is not redemptive is sufficient for the Christian to reject it wholly.

CRT was created originally for the express purpose of highlighting the fact of black people being punished for crimes far worse and longer than their white counterparts that commit the exact same crimes. This is a statistically proven fact. Currently CRT has been demonstrated in school of simply explaining the history of America's past and actually including the ugly instead of sugar coating it or outright not teaching it. And for some reason it's look at as a bad thing by white people only. A simply Google search on CRT and it's original would eliminate all confusion. Like once you actually learn about what CRT is and how it's being utilized everything in this video makes absolutely zero sense. I disagree with Ben Shapiro on America being one of the least racist countries in the world. I travel to other countries and you can call people by the color of their skin or the size of their bodies and no one blinks an eye. In the USA, people get offended and you get labeled racist. Other than that, his explanation of intersectionality was well done.

I love Tureks videos. I watch them often. He's great on 'why Jesus is the answer' but I think this was prob the worst presentation he's done. I don't think he did a good job tackling the race issue, I don't think he did a good job actually explaining what CRT is, or give points from both sides. It sounded like he already had a conservative right-leaning perspective on the issue, echoed by using right leaning speech from Rice, Sowell, and Ben Shapiro. And it sounded like he was speaking to a majority white also right leaning crowd. So very little push back on some of the questions. Anywho. I hope to see him talk about this more, hopefully with some varying perspective as a way to fully explain this... better. And I say all this with love. I'm still a big supporter of cross examined and Frank.

I agree. Matthew 13:24-30 New International Version The Parable of the Weeds 24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like(A) a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ 28 “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

I have a major problem with one thing: I've never heard my pastor talk about race, ever, and there's no racial messaging anywhere in the documentation and imagery around the church. Yet, the congregation is composed of many different groups, everyone gets along, and no one ever finds the need to bring up skin color. It's probably majority white, but so is the country, why is that a bad thing? Our congregation well represents the ethinic makeup of the area as a whole, which means our church appeals to all groups equally, and all without ever mentioning skin color. I would not attend the church Frank was talking about, because I believe hiring a preacher based on skin color IS racist, and frankly if people refuse to attend a service with a pastor of a different color than them, isn't that an indication that they themselves have the racism problem? Why would we cater to that? What we should be doing is treating everyone equally and preaching the gospel, not appealing to racists. Honestly, what's so hard about that?

My thought with CRT is that it’s part of history. Historically there have been unfair and biased crimes against all groups of people - sometimes it’s due to race or class. Any wrongdoing against our brothers and sisters should be addressed, should be taught, should be remembered. This is how we prevent it from happening again. This is how we can help people who are full of rage come to peace and leave their life of hatred behind. So I support these issues being taught in schools. Thanks for the video

@@paulajames6149 No, it’s teaching history. People will always get mad, upset, and divisive when they learn such cruel and discriminatory history. That’s what’s happening. People are learning certain periods of American history are far more devilish than they previously thought and some powers that be would obviously like to prevent people from being educated on it and being upset. The only way to stop that is not allowing people to know the 100% truth of the history, which is why authoritarian countries prevent their citizens from knowing certain history. Knowing and teaching history that gets people mad is not the fault of those teaching the history, it’s the fault of those who committed the events that are now part of that history.

Ok I like Turek, I've listened to many of his videos on Cross Examined. Hell I even bought one of his books (I don't have enough faith to be an atheist). And listening to this as a black man frustrated. It frustrated me because of how much he is either incorrectly interpreting quotes (such as his quote from Patricia Collins) and even his points on what critical Race theory is. It's mainly only utilized in law for the sole purpose of revealing how black people are punished far worse and more than their white counterparts, which is a statistically proven fact. Heck even his phrasing of CRT points makes it seem like it's an understating not based on any kind of reasoning. Thomas So we'll wouldn't even agree with his use of his quote🤦🏿‍♂️. I don't understand how it's hard for white people to understand what black people are saying, I'm not even trying to say understand our experiences, just understand our words. I really sat here listening to a white man try to explain CRT when with a quick Google search all of these misunderstandings can be erased. It really sucks to hear a dude who made so many other great points on the bible fumble on a topic that imo he had no reason to even discuss.

Be prepared for all three. “Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ We are all made in the image of God but not all people are children of God. “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. This was an awesome video Brother Turek but to add more to your answer to the black sister’s question of, “How can Christians Unite against CRT?” I would say we can fight it together as Christians, by fighting for it in our person to person situations or better yet, your neighbor! Let me give an example, we can fight against racism by being unbiased in how we treat people of different ethnicities or skin colors. So let’s say your a Black cop and in a traffic stop you pull over a white pedestrian whom you happen to find is in possession of illegal substance. You should judge that person with the same judgement you’d have for someone of your own ethnicity or skin color. So in other words we fight against CRT by fighting against injustices in our personal circles (treating people equal and based on the content of their character) with people of different ethnicities, social groups, skin color etc which will in turn fight against it or turn these circumstances around on a much larger scale.

I thought this was a pretty good, well balanced presentation right up until you brought up that Margaret Sanger was a Eugenicist. Margaret Sanger, as a young public health nurse, spent her life trying to bring birth control to America, not abortion. In fact, she opposed abortion and sharply distinguished it from birth control. She believed that the latter was a fundamental right of women and the former was a shameful crime (Sanger, Margaret (1931). My Fight for Birth Control. Farrar & Rinehart.). If you got this wrong, which is easily verifiable, what else have you said that is questionable or just plain wrong?

Dr Turek I strongly disagree. There IS certain "behaviors" associated with ethnicities!!! Living among a diverse country like the U.S. and then living among other countries I MOST CERTAINLY see that being born in the U.S. DOESN'T make you a westerner. Just like a white person being born in China doesn't make that person behave like an eastern oriental person.
@benjohnson3349
@benjohnson3349 2 жыл бұрын
Based on your post, I believe you are someone who values logic and critical thinking. You are almost correct. Where you are born doesn’t give you a culture, it does give you ethnicity. Cultures and ethnicities are not the same thing although they are linked. Behaviors are associated with cultures and mores. People in a national or regional group (ethnicity) fashion a set of beliefs and traditions (culture and mores). Behaviors are the actions born from culture and are associated with ethnicities only to the extent that those are the behaviors the adults choose to act out and teach to the children. This means no behaviors people choose to act out are the result of their ethnicity. They are a result of the culture that the previous generation in that ethnicity chose to build or the result of the choice to break from that culture in some form. You can choose to change the culture you follow and therefore the behaviors resulting from it. It is an easy mistake to make because definitions, origins and hierarchies have been diluted to the point that it creates confusion.
