Thank you! I am not a great history student...

I suppose they didn't think mechanics have to be specifically credited. It looks like a lot of the focus went into world-building? Still a shame that they didn't take this opportunity to boost a game system they seem to like a lot. I'm glad I watched your review first! I should check out Blades in the Dark :)

I'll say for sure - the world building is spot on! And the changes they did make seem like they will work (but I'll want to try them out first).

Agree. It's weird, it costs nothing to give a tip of the hat and give due credit. In fact the opposite -- it creates some good will. :)

When I first heard about the rules for Candela Obscura, it struck me as, "oh! it feels like Call of Cthulu (setting) + Vampire the Masquerade (dice)".
@TheRPGBlender Жыл бұрын
Setting sure has some CoC vibes! While I enjoy the VtM system for what it is... I do think a light system like Blades in the Dark makes sense for them to be emulating (although I wish it had better horror mechanisms0

@@TheRPGBlender You're right in what you say though: they do Blades a disservice by not giving it credit. It makes the hobby grow as a whole when people are pointed to source material, and are made aware that there's so much more out there.

I had the same thought. I watched 15 minutes of another video on it and was just like, "This is a World of Darkness and Call of Cthullu rip off." I stopped watching after that.

The fact they call it their own system is the thing that bothers me.
@TheRPGBlender Жыл бұрын
Yes... They claim so many times they made this new system but in the end, it's a blades in the dark clone

Nice video as always. The system and setting seem... alright. Like nothing that I've heard here while absent-mindendly doing other things really sold me on it. I'm sure they will move a good number of copies regardless due to the brand, double so if they actually play the system themselves. In general, it's nice knowing that TTRPG shows are making systems since you can have a really neat synergy there and I hope they pay their devs well (since most of them are woefully underpaid for the incredible job they do).
