Back in the US Army we had a saying.. The cutting pipe in half can work as a seccondary way of holding the motor. If you have some large threads that pull the motor foward to a spot on the frame that is welded in place. Large industrial motors will often use that type of mount

Yea torch works on plastic but it fades back pretty quick fr and just tip for welding if you go forward and back on bead and keep it consistent will make for a much nicer bead
