I hate kyber crystal bleeding. I hated it when they retconned it and I hate it now. They pulled the sci out of my fi. They had all the magic they needed with the force, and felt they needed more magic. I live by the old cannon and treat them as less stable synthetic crystals. Also, the lens was broken and there was no emitter between the crystal and the aperture. That lightsaber shouldn't work at all. If the power cell, emitter, or lens is broken the saber fails to ignite.

@@laparka1138 to add to this, it also reflects how they use the force on a fundamental level too, the jedi guided by the force to their crystals, having to give themselves to the will of the force while sith make their own using sith alchemy, forcing their own will upon the force to produce their crystals rather than this edgy garbage where they subject a crystal to cringe emo posts made by 14 year olds or whatever to get it to "bleed"
@patrickthomas21193 ай бұрын
I hate the bleeding lightsaber crap; I always preferred the explanation that the color came from the crystal they put in it and that sith used synthetic crystals (rather then going and searching for them) and because they are synthetic and not natural they just always came out red. That explains why lightsabers don't change colors depending on who is holding them. the 'bleeding effect' I always hated. And I believe that predates Disney.

Also the synth crystals even reinforces the whole Sith/Darkside being an easier path, the more tempting path to take, because you can get things without having to work for it.
@patrickthomas21193 ай бұрын
Exactly. It is the quicker and easier way to just make a crystal instead of having the patience and discipline to have to find one. Heroes have been a constant in every society. The closest comparison to the current trend is the movies of the 70s, where the gritty anti-hero was king. However, it motivated the likes of Stallone to create the everyman hero of Rocky (who shows that you can pull yourself out of the muck, even if just to show the world your own worth by rising to a personal challenge) and Lucas to create Star Wars, which was itself a throwback to the heroic shows and films of his youth. Andy giving his toys to Bonnie and Playing with them one last time before moving on with his life, and it didn't damage 2, it made Stinky Pete a better Villian, He was RIGHT about toys kids growing up and leaving them and his childhood behind, but it wasn't all doom and gloom like he made it out to be, its bittersweet. they were there for Andy's highs and lows and they got to watch the boy they looked after grow into a man who didn't need them anymore and gifted them to someone who did. it was so rounded and beautiful and then they completely fucked it up with 4 to the point I refuse to watch it.

However, Toy Story 1-3 and the various holiday-themed Toy Story short-films have such a deep-rooted nostalgia for me, and I could rewatch those films forever and never hate them. Idk why those films are the only Pixar films I can still tolerate as an adult, but they are some of the best "kids" films out there, imo. The third one always makes me cry like a little bitch too. Every time I rewatch it, I try to hold those tears back so I don't embarrass myself in front of other people, but it never works lmao (I'm also a 25yo man, for context). Not only didn't the lightsaber turning red make any sense, but also when it broke it looked like the crystal moved and cracked. Which from what I understand, probably should have led to the type of problems that can cause it to explode. I mean the reason they gave for Kylo Ren's lightsaber having the cross beams is that the crystal was cracked. Yet this broken lightsaber works perfectly fine.

Who's going to break it to Mauler that they did follow up on Mirror, Mirror several times in the 90s, and it got worse every time?

Remember that old Trek episode where the crazed green chick said to Spock about Kirk _"No. No. You mustn't stop me. ...he's my lover and I have to kill him."_ Thats Kennedy and her loon coven of Lucasfilm.

I think what bothers me, is how Mae conveniently fails to mention Sol killing her mother to Osha, until episode 8. She doesn't remember until everyone has an episode 7 flashback. She doesnt try to explain her actions when accused before 8. Its inconsistent with her character and the story.

Kids NEED good entertainment. We evidently have more and more shitty parenting , so what the hell are the kids gonna learn from if not entertainment?

I would love it, if in some future star wars product they reffered back to the Acolyte but make it out to be an in-universe fiction written by someone who knew little to nothing about the jedi but hated them and wrote a series of novels focused on them as the villains. The protagonists can roll their eyes at every commonplace misconception and lie peddled in the show, how the jedi are supposed to 'never draw their lighsabre without need' not kill and how they take children with or without consent of the parents. The whole " I'm going to tempt my female apprentice to the darkside with my sexy body and suggestive comments" just seems like something from a paperback adult 'romance ' series. In-universe it can fit as something written by someone who never even met a jedi. It definitely reads like it. Out of universe it was exactly the same or at least that is how the product ended up. In-universe they can scoff at the absurdities like "lesbian space witches" and poor writing like the stone building burning, space fires and the overflow of plot holes. The characters can point out how it indicates to them that the writer lacked general life experience, never traveled out of her star system and most likely never even met a jedi. Reduce the 'writers' and their work to what it is and give the writers what they asked for, to have their work included in-universe forever. Let it be as an expensive, unsuccessful fantasy fiction written by someone who had no understanding of the universe they wrote in, hated who they wrote about, hated who they wrote for and never bothered to do actual research. Don't let it die forgotten, crusify it's corpse as an example to other writers walking the same road to respect the material you work with regardless of how you personally feel about it.

In terms of the desecration of heroes... someone will supply them. It just won't be Disney, Marvel, or Star Wars. Whether it's Harry Potter, Vi from Arcane, or Luffy from One Piece, kids will still find heroes because someone is going to supply them and they're going to be rewarded for doing so. And I'm good with that. It's sad to see the heroes I grew up with torn down, but I'm not super concerned about the kids because there will always be heroes. They just won't be mine. And that's okay. Luffy, in fact, might be one of the best heroes for kids today. He's unapologetically good and driven and caring. He accomplishes great things by having dreams and sheer will, despite all obstacles, while also respecting others' dreams and ideas.

This is what I said about ant man 3. Taking almost half a billion dollars at the box office for an ant man movie should be a massive success. The overblown budget screws it 1:12:25

I have to hard disagree with this growing sentiment for lower budgets. Don’t get me wrong I understand why the crew has been saying it and get the base point of it but the issue is the writing and suggesting they have lower budgets just seems like curing the symptom not the disease. A good writer with a good budget could make a massive hit of a movie. (Also bear in mind when I say this I mean I don’t think they should be capped at 100 million the movies well exceeding 200-250 million could tone it down.

The discussion on the need for hero's and what people replace them with when they are all gone reminded me of the famous Nietzsche quote. “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. Yet his shadow still looms. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives; who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it? Put simply if we remove a need for someone or something to aspire to and put ourselves at the centre of our own morality we become God and can justify whatever horrific morality we create. Sound familiar?

Mogg or whatever his name is, feels like the kid who got picked on so the teacher gives them a "special job" like a prefect in secondry school in the uk. Someone who everyone else in school hates but theyre just a brown nose. For example:- Prefect: "stop doing that" Me as a 12 year old: "you have no power here"

Of course there is such a thing as a benevolent dictator. Rome had a few of them. DeGaulle was sort of that, though he wasn't really a dictator. There are people who do not want power because they themselves feel that they deserve it, they want power because they want to help make their country better. And once they achieved that, they will give up that power.

13:20 What are we supposed to make of Darth Plagueis, peering ominously around a corner, unexplained, barely visible? The same thing we concluded from Gollum in the first LOTR, peering ominously around a corner, unexplained, barely visible. "This is a character for season 2 and if you are familiar with the genre you know who he is." But we could ALSO conclude that Ms. Headland could have introduced him in a dozen other ways without copying LOTR.
