The whole point is that William is drawing attenton to a worthwhile cause by helping out in various ways, talking to the people who do the work, learning about how the system works and may be connecting people from various organisations who may be able to help each other. It is a tried and tested system that has worked for decades and the glue is the RF. Do you really have such an empty life that all you can do is criticise someone doing a worthwhile job? Get a life.

I don't know the royal figures... I'm italian, but it's clear to everyone that someone like the Prince of Wales can act as a vehicle to publicize these associations and to push people to come forward and help. Who more than him with his popularity and influence can be more effective in this? Everywhere famous people do it with humanitarian intentions. Even the late Diana was an advertising vehicle to educate and raise awareness among people about problems such as AIDS or against landmines... certainly no one expected her to personally remove landmines...
