I want this movie to succeed if only because it's a family friendly original, new, non-sequel/prequel/remake story. Chris Gore had similar criticism of how the movie needs 'rules' to govern the concpet. I think that is easy enough to overlook in favor of just enjoying a good wholesome original movie at a time when there's not a lot of that on offer.

a kids film where Dad isn't portrayed as a bumbling idiot and from yours and others sounds about a 3 to a 3.5 out of 5. If I had kids or my niece was older I'd take her to this. We need a return to storytelling, both for families and overall so I appreciate the work Krasinski and Reynolds have put into this.

"Calvin and Hobbs" author's son did a few panels of a sequel called "Hobbs and Bacon". Calvin had grown up and has a daughter named Bacon (after the explorer Sir Frances Bacon) who is just like Calvin was. She inherits Hobbs and so the hijinks resume, passed on to the next generation. Look it up! 😊

Stop with your BS fake news nonsense. Hobbes and Bacon IS NOT from Bill Watterson's son. It's a fan work by two brothers, Dan & Tom HAYERMAN, who are not in any way related to Watterson. FYI, the whole series starts with some anti-Trump dialogue. I'm not a Trump fan myself, but I find the TDS among the woke hilarious.

I did the same thing as you as a kid. My friend and I had a MASSIVE saga with our action figures that lasted at least 5 years of our childhood at least, if not longer. We never used the figures as the characters they where figures of, though. We always used them as stand-ins to represent out OCs/made up characters. That saga was a massive epic of good vs. evil that is to this day one of my fondest childhood memories. It also gave the world the gift that is "Pulp-O-Teen" brand Orange Juice, and its creator Pulpatine, an orange juice-themed Palpatine parody complete with his own "Death Orange" and the power to generate, control, and even transform into orange juice, among other unnatural abilities...

I went to see the movie yesterday, and I must say, I wasn't expecting it to be as much of a kids' movie as the trailer made it out to be. Unfortunately, this was one of its biggest downfalls. The film was very kid-friendly to the point where it became a little bit annoying. I was expecting something that wouldn't be so kid-friendly and would at least cater to a slightly older audience as well, but I was mistaken. One of the huge issues I had with the movie was its incredibly vague plot and story. The filmmakers didn't provide clear attention to certain plot points, making it hard to understand what was going on, especially concerning the parents, particularly hinting at least one of them being terminally ill from cancer, but they didn't address it (obviously because it's a kids movie). Important details were either glossed over or left unclear, leaving me puzzled and disengaged. Another perplexing aspect was the lead character's imaginary friend being a human, which didn't make much sense compared to everyone else's cartoon characters. This inconsistency made the story feel disjointed. While I appreciate the attempt at originality, these elements contributed to a confusing narrative. On a positive note, Ryan Reynolds' performance was a refreshing change from his usual roles. He felt different in this movie, and I’m glad he wasn't giving another Deadpool-like performance. I had a theory that his character was meant to symbolize someone significant to the protagonist, adding a layer of depth that was otherwise lacking. Overall, while the movie had potential and attempted to be original, it fell short due to its overly kid-friendly approach and vague storytelling. It wasn't a complete failure, but it left much to be desired.

When I was a little kid, I tried having an imaginary friend. I was super creative: "Sally" was actually my secret identical twin. She was basically just like me, except she was a prankster. Anytime the dog barked at nothing, or a door slammed too hard, I pretended it was Sally. Maybe a stuck sink unclogged itself at just that moment, and it was attributed to Blue, or; the toys were stacked precariously and finally fell over at that time, and the cause was made to be whats-his-name?

Its not the time period the movies takes place but the way its filmed or the pacing of it. Can't put my finger on it. I would say that another twist it had was that it ends up focusing on adults and their IFs and not so much about the kids. I though that was a pleasant surprise especially with how the very ending went. My girl left with tears in her eyes (good tears)

I feel like the video title is a little misleading. I was expecting coverage of the media reaction to the film, not a review of the film itself, BUT I also think summarizing the media reaction and relegating to a mere video title is both fitting for how little their hypocritical crying matters and because the movie is about family and goodness, so of course the media would object.

The critics' score is not the problem. Whether it's woke or not woke is not the problem. The problems are that the trailers look generically bland and the movie has a bloated budget of $110 million which, especially after Friday's numbers, it will struggle to make back. Videos like this make me worry that a lot of us here are forgetting to look at entertainment in terms of ACTUAL quality. Just because a film isn't actively trying to insult me doesn't make it good or worth my money by default -- it still needs to earn those.

Critics are not supposed to bash a movie because it goes against their woke agendas. They're supposed to give constructive arguments on how the movie could've been better, to give leeway for better movies to be made in the future. These are not "critics," at least not in the way they're supposed to be. These are sick people who use their profession as "critics" to make a piece of media look worse than it really is because it doesn't have wokeism in it. For that, they should get fired so actual critics can take the job and give out actually constructive criticism that will help people create better films.

It was a good movie. I thought it was going to be stupid cartoon humor and it had quite a bit of heart. The start of the movie is sad. The whole movie is about beings in your life that are there to support you but you forget about them.

Instead of slamming people for not liking it based on not sharing your political views (which is unprofessional as a movie reviewer. Shouldn’t ever be biased regardless what beliefs you have) - the marketing makes it seem extremely dated in writhing - the art design for the imaginary friends look uncanny and off which alot of people wont like - advertising is insinuating that it will drone on on scenes that dont have much purpose for the story but will leave out context or details that would of made the story more sound which, most people want the story to get to the point now, thats just the social climate we’re in. - the marketing also insinuates that the movie is going to be really slow, which kids just dont like being forced to sit through. Kids prefer having movies like that be played in the background while they do something else with their time. So its not going to be very popular in the theatre, but it may become popular later when it goes to dvd and streaming.

@ WDW Pro I've got 2 questions for you first one is. Is it worth seeing in theaters and and second for someone that's never seen? Movies like The Sixth Sense Is there a more accurate? Comparison person for like PG-13 movie or something.

Film Threat did a video review worth checking out. Chris Gore said it stole the concept from Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends but without the charm. Also it deals with some dark stuff ( parental death). See the review for yourself and judge

Well, in the case of Film Threat and the reviews from both of the guys, the main reason the film wasn't great was a lack of cohesive rules in concerns to the imaginary beings and Ryan still just playing himself as usual instead of stretching his acting talents to be someone else. As much as I like Ryan, he just doesn't know how to become a different character in his movies. Also, as Alan Ing pointed out from a comment, "IF" is just a poor version of the superior animated series, "Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends". Chris Gore also noted that most of the IF creatures do not match anything a child would come up with in their imagination.

Basicly the rewatchable part is when they play the Tina Turner song which is about 5 minutes long.I liked Lyle, lyle crocodile better than this and that movie was pretty boring also. The near 5 minutes great special effects scene will probably be featured on youtube sooner or later.I'm really surprised of this movie's reported budget. You're really wondering where the money went.I usually forgive alot for a movie that's emotional but it wasn't funny and it was about one third boring. They also really went overboard with the my God language.None of the Disney or Pixor movies script movies this way.
