Thanks Jake. Great to see you apply your high standards to yourself , I'm guessing that's part of what makes you an Olympian! Great content, shows that we're all work in progress and should be open to development... some of us more than others!!

Thanks Jake! 🎉I’m getting back into the sport and will surely take a stab at video analysis. While this is 2yr old, it’s still relevant.

PLEASE do more content regarding self-coaching stuff...as an archer from Pakistan, I kinda rely on this content to progress? we don't have good coaches here, my city (Islamabad), has ONE shooting range, and the coach is an absolute knucklehead... if it weren't for your content and books, i'd have quit archery by now...

Barebow shooter here. Is this angle ↖️ in your video the best to analyze your own form? I've filmed myself from these angles ⬅️, ↙️, ⬆️ and ➡️. Have discovered tilting the bow at/after release, gripping the handle at release, lowering the bow too early, collapsing and plucking. Been shooting since Sept 2019 and got my own bow a year later. Went barebow after some months struggling with the (black box) sight 😡. Took it off and shot better without it after learning string walking from your videos 😊 I participated in the Norwegian national championship in April and managed to be 4th out of 14 skilled Barebow ladies 😁. Had covid the week before so my stamina got a hit.

Jake after your last video from Wednesday I videotaped myself from the back six arrows and then from The side six arrows and also took a picture of the results. To look to see if the string was touching my chest and it wasn’t. your videos are very helpful and it does give you a different look of what you’re actually doing. thank you so much. I thought you were being too critical on yourself compared to the average archer but it does give you great perspective. please keep up the good work I enjoy your videos and your instructions.

Well thanks Jake. Looks like there just happens to be three places that have particularly good angles to record from. Even one capable of capturing the disappointment on my face. Gonna zoom in on the draw hand, shoulder and elbow from that angle.

An idea for ease of tracing motion would be to use foam balls as in movie simulations, temporary tattoos, black tape or some sort of washable paint. It sure helps knowing what to critic! Thanks again professor!

Obviously I'm in no way as knowledgeable as you Jake but when trying to help someone make a change in form I always advise them to drop a few pounds in draw weight. What are your thoughts on that?

Ok… if that’s bad form and shooting we all suck! Seriously, though your critique was good. As I see it though you were shooting an unfamiliar set-up that you seemed to warm up to as you progressed. I wish my weaknesses were so minute. How would you consider your ability and insight to critique compound shooting form?

This is even more food for thought than I had expected - and my expectations were high at the outset. On the other hand, Jake, your form at it its worst its waaay better than mine at its best - and boyoboyoboy am I now aware how bad my best is!! (BTW, what video editing/analysing app do you use?)

I only use QuickTime. I don’t bother with fancy lines and measurements. I can see the faults just going frame by frame. You can pause the video and just use the arrow keys to go frame by frame.

Hmmm, the shot looking like a pluck when its actually a collapse could be something that explains why I've been having so many plucked releases when I'm tired, also having not shot for 2 months due to exams. Very helpful advise on using the background as references to check for motion, I need to do that asap as soon as I go out to the range next time. I usually just ask a friend to film me for a end or two, would probably need a tripod for that

I really love this type of content. The youtuber from "The Archery Academy" does some great content like this with footage others have sent him. Something that you didn't mention that I think is really important, how would each of these issues effect the arrow flight, groupings and scores? Would this give false readings when tuning the bow? (Obviously, yes, but how?). Thank you for all your videos.
